Abstract

This study aims to explain the meaning of idioms using stomach as part of the body represent a particular purpose, and together produce meanings related to emotions. Balinese Language (BL) has several idioms based on the word basang ‘stomach’. The data source is oral speech from daily conversation, Observation and note taking technique were applied in this study to collect data. The collected data was analyzed through semantic views resulting that Balinese language Idioms is a tangible manifestation of the close relationship between language and culture.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Japan has a lot of loanwords, not only from China but also from English or other countries to enrich their language. The word harassment compounded with other words or phrases form new meaning refers to the feeling of uncomfortable or unconvenient of something. The word harassment coumpounded in Japanese seems to have trivilisation in meaning, this phenomenon related to high sensitivity and strict value in Japanese society.Keyword: loanword, Japanese, harassment

Abstract

abstractTraditional Japanese society was a patrilineal society that had attitudes for men to preserve the family as a successor.  The eldest son is always expected to be responsible for ancestor worship, wisely manage family inheritance to maintain the sustainability of the family. This system, Ie system, is a system that regulates all of the family members. Not only regarding how to behave toward family members but also the rules to choose the head of the family who will rule the whole of the family.

Abstract

This research is titled “Idiom in Tobe! Senbazuru Novel by Teshima Yuusuke and the equivalent of the meaning in Balinese language”. The aim of this research are understanding the meaning of Japanese idiom and these equivalent meaning in Balinese. This research used the classification of idiom based on part of speech theory by Yutaka (1990), meaning theory by Muneo (1992), and description of meaning idiom relations by Momiyama (in Sutedi, 2008:160). The results of this research are the 33 idiom in Tobe! Senbazuru Novel by Teshima Yuusuke of which 32 idiom formed by verb, 1 idiom formed by adjective, and noun of idiom not founded. Based on meaning, it is divided into : 1) idiom that show feeling and emotion, 2) idiom that show body, character, and attitude, 3) idiom that show conduct, movement, and action, 4) idiom that show condition, grade, and value, 5) idiom that show society, culture, and life. Description of the relation between meaning in idiom are metaphor, metonymy, and synecdoche. Idiom in Tobe! Senbazuru Novel by Yuusuke (2015), based on idiom of formation is dominantly formed by verb. Japanese language idiom can be paired with more than one idiom in Balinese language because the way of disclosure of idiom is different, but the meaning has the same purpose.

Abstract

This research is entitled “Gijougo in Great Teacher Onizuka Comic by Toru Fujisawa”. This research discuss about using and meaning of Gijougo in Great Teacher Onizuka Comic. The main theory used in the analysis  were Morfology Theory by Tsujimura (1999), Syntax Theory by Chaer (2009), and Semantic Theory by Pateda (2001). The analysis in this paper shows that in all 26 datas, there are 18 kind of gijougo in Great Teacher Onizuka Comic. From all that data, gijougo is mostly used as a verb in a sentence and not every grammatical process changes the gijougo meaning, but some gijougo’s meaning are changed too.

Abstract

The title of this research is “Mama Tomo in Happiness, a Novel by Natsuo Kirino”. This research aims to analyze the characteristics, group formation, and stratification system of mama tomo group. The methods used are descriptive analysis method and informal method. The theories used in analyzed are sociology literature theory by Wellek and Warren (2016), group characteristics theory by Baron and Kerr (2003), social exchange theory by Blau (in Ritzer and Goodman, 2004), and social stratification theory by Horton and Hunt (1984). Based on the analysis result of the group characteristics, there were three norms found to be applied in the group such as, 1) emphasizing the “wa” or the harmony of group; 2) trying to be an ideal figure of ryousaikenbo; and 3) using the honne and tatemae properly. From the group size, mama tomo group is a small group which has a structure. The structure consists of 1) Ibuki’s mom is the leader; 2) Megu’s mom is Ibuki’s mom’s assistant; 3) Mako’s mom, Arisa, and Miu’s mom are ordinary member. Mama tomo group formation is divided into two factors, that are 1) something in common with another member in group; and 2) obtained benefits of group. The stratification in mama tomo group is determined by three factors, 1) residence; 2) husband’s work; and 3) child’s school. Two social classes, upper class and middle class also found in mama tomo group. The impacts of the stratification system in mama tomo group are 1) happiness; 2) ethnocentrism of social class; and 3) lifestyle.

Abstract

This study aims to know how Community Roles that are played by the women during World War II, in the anime entitled Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni by Sunao Katabuchi. The analysis was done by using the Gender Analysis Frameworks by Caroline Moser (1993). The data were collected by watching the anime and applied the note taking technique. The qualitative analysis of the data shows that women character in the anime was very active in their community. They join the organization namely Dai Nippon Fujinkai and all the activities in their neigbourhood. Those activities show their community roles.

Abstract

The title of this research is “Metaphor in Evergreen Album by Motohiro Hata”. This research aims to analyze the category, the meaning and the function of metaphor in Evergreen Album by Motohiro Hata. The theories that are used for analyzing arestylistics by Al-MA’ruf (2009) and metaphor by Knowless & Moon  (2006). The results of this research shows there are four metaphor identified in Evergreen CD 1: 1) personification; 2) simile; 3)metomyny; 4) synesthesia. In addition to it, the metaphor are functioned as follow : 1) to describe one’s feeling; 2) to show up impression whitin the lyrics; 3) to intensify the meaning.

Abstract

The title of this thesis is "Use of Setsuzokushi Tonikaku, Tokorode, and Jyaa found in the Novel Norwei No Mori by Haruki Murakami.” focuses on studying the structure and meaning of Setsuzokushi Tonikaku, Tokorode, and Jyaa. The theories which use are Sunagawa et al (1998), Makino and Tsutsui (1994), and semantic theory according to Pateda (2001), and syntactic theory according to Verhaar (2012). This research was analyzed by using agih method and divide technique, the presentation about results of analysis used informal method. The results of this analysis are Setsuzokushi tonikaku, tokorode, jyaa connected with the first sentence and the second sentence, connected with Godan Doushi, Ichidan Doushi, Henkaku Doushi, Meishi, and Keiyoushi. The most found structure are Godan Doushi and Meishi, while in terms of its meaning the most found is the context of the situation for change the topic of conversation.

Abstract

This study entitled “Stylistics Found in Kaneko Misuzu’s Poem Kyonen no Kyou” focused on identifying and understanding kinds and functions of language style found in this literary work. Stylistic theory proposed by Al-Ma’ruf (2009) and rhetoric theory proposed by Seto (2002) were applied. As a result, it was identified that Kyonen no Kyou poem is expressed by the author clearly and in detail by using characteristic style and diction related to children. The language style is functioned to emphasize respect, to raise certain meaning and context, and to concretize speech.
