Abstract

Jupriono Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya diglossiafbs@gmail.com   Abstrak Selama lebih dari 50 tahun, mengajar linguistik di Indonesia telah didominasi dengan paradigma deskriptif, yang hanya menekankan pada sistem linguistik atau bahkan tata bahasa saja. Paradigma deskriptif memang menempatkan bahasa sebagai objek yang otonom, netral, dan terisolasi dari masyarakat. Selanjutnya, apa karakteristik dari paradigma deskriptif dalam pengajaran bahasa? Bagaimana dampak terhadap bangunan mahasiswa karakter? Apa paradigma yang mampu untuk menangani kekurangan yang disebabkan oleh implementasi paradigma deskriptif? Jika linguistik paradigma kritis dianggap lebih baik, apa karakteristik? Bagaimana dampak pelaksanaan paradigma kritis dalam pengajaran bahasa terhadap karakter siswa? Pembahasan ini adalah pada pendekatan kualitatif-kritis. Desain diterapkan untuk mempelajari dampak dari paradigma deskriptif dan kritis dalam pengajaran bahasa terhadap karakter siswa adalah analisis wacana kritis (CDA). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pertama, paradigma deskriptif dalam pengajaran bahasa menumpulkan kesadaran siswa untuk masalah-masalah sosial; paradigma deskriptif hanya akan melahirkan siswa yang memiliki karakter tanggung jawab egois, apatis dan tidak ada masalah sosial, kedua, untuk membangun karakter mahasiswa yang peduli masyarakat dan memiliki kesadaran kritis, pengajaran bahasa harus memiliki paradigma kritis. Dengan paradigma kritis, kuliah linguistik akan mengangkat teks wacana aktual masalah sosial (ketidakadilan, ketimpangan, hubungan dominasi-subordinasi antara kelompok-kelompok, dll). kata kunci: pengajaran bahasa, paradigma deskriptif, paradigma kritis, analisis wacana kritis   Abstract For more than 50 years the linguistic teaching in Indonesia has been dominated with descriptive paradigm, which merely focuses on linguistic system or even only grammar. Descriptive paradigm indeed places language as an object which is autonomous, neutral, and isolated from society. Next, what are the characteristics of descriptive paradigm in linguistic teaching? How is the impact toward student character building? What paradigm which is capable to handle the lacks caused by descriptive paradigm implementation? If the critical paradigm linguistic is considered better, what are the characteristics? How is the impact of critical paradigm implementation in linguistic teaching toward student character? The discussion is on the qualitative-critical approach. The design applied to study the impact of descriptive and critical paradigm in linguistic teaching toward student character is critical discourse analysis (CDA). The results of this research are firstly, descriptive paradigm in linguistic teaching blunts student awareness to social problems; descriptive paradigm will only bear students which have character of selfish, apathetic and no responsibility to social problems, secondly, to build student character which cares of society and has critical awareness, linguistic teaching should have critical paradigm. With critical paradigm, linguistic lectures will lift up actual discourse texts of social problems (unfairness, lameness, relation of domination-subordination between groups, etc.). key words: linguistic teaching, descriptive paradigm, critical paradigm, critical discourse analysis

Jupriono[1] Soekarno Hs.[2] Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya diglossiafbs@gmail.com Abstrak Nilai-nilai etika Jawa direpresentasikan dalam novel karya Suparto Brata, Donyane Wong Culika (2004) adalah prinsip-prinsip menjaga dan memelihara keserasian sosial melalui toleransi, rasa hormat, malu, salut (sungkan), oleh ambisi menekan dan kepentingan pribadi. Representasi nilai-nilai etika Jawa dalam novel ini juga rusak oleh massa serta (bangsawan) priyayi, pejabat, orang-orang kerajaan. Melalui ilustrasi karakter dan perilaku karakter 'dalam novel ini, sebenarnya Suparto Brata protes dengan etika Jawa yang diklaim lebih terhormat karena dalam novel ini membuktikan bahwa massa serta priyayi melakukan urusan tipu dan cinta.kata kunci: sosiologi sastra, pendekatan moral-filosofis, etika jawa, harmoni    Abstract Javanese ethic values represented in the novel by Suparto Brata, Donyane Wong Culika (2004), are the principles of keeping and maintaining the social harmony through tolerance, respect, ashamed, salute (sungkan), by suppressing ambition and personal interest. The representation of Javanese ethic values in this novel is also broken by the masses as well as priyayi (aristocrat), officials, royal people. Abstract

Communication between students and thesis supervisor is a form of interpersonal communication inboth directions, because the communication is done by the students with the thesis supervisor, allowingeach party either students or thesis supervisor giving each response as feedback from the message.Feedback responses can be either verbal or non-verbal language . Effective communication betweenstudents and professors pembibing thesis, is expected to be helped to overcome obstacles or problemsthat occur in the preparation of the thesis. Formulation of the problem in this research is "How can theeffectiveness of inter- personal communication students and lecturers in the process of preparation of thethesis?". This study used a qualitative descriptive method by distributing questionnaires to a samplewithdrawal . Sample in this study was the student of the Department of Social Communication August 17,1945 Surabaya University class of 2011. Abstract

The method used in this study is a qualitative research method of case studies. The case studiesfocus intensively on a particular object with a case study. Qualitative research aims to explain thephenomenon with deeply through data collection. The sampling technique in this research is the snowballtechnique ( snowball ). Through qualitative approach, data obtained from the field drawn conclusionsare specific to the general. Objects in the study were students of University August 17 Fisip Surabaya arestill active are 25 people. Observations made during the first month . Data collection techniques used inthis research is through field research and library research. And data analysis techniques used in thisresearch through data reduction, data display, draw conclusions and verification. The results showedthat the site facebook is a social media platforms are quite good and efficient. Very good role in socialkomuniikasi ie as source of information about friends , communities, groups and data sharing. Then interms of the economic benefits are not good enough but still no progress. facebook but as acommunication medium between friends can also as a medium to promote businesses . in education isquite minimal benefits from the data that the author did little is agreed that education has an importantrole in facebook. then from the social and cultural , social development is significant but the impact thatcaused the not too big for our culture.Keywords: opinion, students, social communications, facebook.

Abstract

This film begins when Light Yagami finds a book that turned out to belong to a Shinigami (God ofDeath) named Ryuk (Ryuku). In the Death Note Ryuk owned, there are ways to use the Death Notewritten by him alone. Death Note is then used to realize his ideals is to create a clean new world of crime,with himself as a god, by writing the name of the perpetrator into Deathnote book, the offender will dieinstantly in 40 seconds in this study researchers with the theme or topic of fanaticism exist in a moviewith the title "the First Name Deathnote". Purpose of this research was to determine and analyze themeaning of the film, the message of social and moral student named Light Yagami and L in the filmDetective Deathnote The First Name. This research method is a method of semiotic analysis withqualitative descriptive research with interpretive paradigm. The object of research is a Light That aMurderer (KIRA) through symbols Deathnote message in the film The First Name. The results of thisstudy indicate bahwapemuda named Light Yagami Having high ideals to create a new world in whichthere is no crime, denggan using Light Deathnote book can kill all the people who are consideredunworthy of life in the world because of his criminal actions. The suggestion of this research for the filmobserver especially moviegoers are expected not to imitate him Light, which tends to have the ambition tobe the god of the world's poor, as well as showing the inability of the police in dealing with crime. Abstract

The Background of this research begins from the existence of a “Movement Record the City”. Movement which was initiated by Gresik Movie aimsto invite the Gresi community to participate in maintaining the sustainability of the city by recording anything that has artistic and historical value in the city of Gresik. Considering that many other things that continue to dissaper and change from the city of Gresik make the Gresik Movie community want to invite the public to preserve this beloved city. Before it’s too late and become the story, would that to answer the formulation issue in this study that was message contained in the documentary video “Movement Record the City” the work of Gresik Movie. A theory used n ths study s the theory of semiotics of the social codes of television John Fiske. Research method, the type of research used was qualitative descriptive study, the primary data source in the form of the original video “Movement Record the City” obtained from the Gresik movie youtube channel. The results showed that the meaning of the government Gresik more likely to use the ideology of capitalism, it is supported by the many of existing developments un the city of Gresik. But the government Gresik another thing about the ideology indeed Gresik cling to region, this is demonstrated by the many of development of the industrial sector and forget the religious development. The change in orientation of the community and the regional government of Gresik was criticalized and reminded of the way “the video was removed”. This disappearance represent the power of domination of business investors and industry players who are doing development in the industrial sector as well as bullying the religious culture of santri.Keyword: semiotic, ideology, culture

Abstract

Silent animation is an animation that was created without using sound recording, especially in dialogue. The greatest strength of silent animation is nonverbal communication which is all forms of gestures that are not words. This research attempts to examine Larva season 3  episode Garlic 1 and 2 by using the theory of nonverbal systems of kinesis and proxemics categories as a reference unit of analysis. This research aims to interpret the meanings of nonverbal messages by using the Gillian Rose visual methodology from site of self and site of production to find the meanings of nonverbal messages in Larva season 3 episode Garlic 1 and 2. The research uses a critical paradigm with a qualitative approach that focuses on scenes that are describing nonverbal messages in Larva visualization. The results had found that the meanings of nonverbal messages displayed in Larva season 3 episode Garlic 1 and 2 also reflected in recent life issues such as struggling, respecting others, earnest, and being patient. Keywords: Nonverbal Messages, Kinesis, Proxemics, Visual Methodology

Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pertama, paradigma deskriptif dalam pengajaran bahasa menumpulkan kesadaran siswa untuk masalah-masalah sosial; paradigma deskriptif hanya akan melahirkan siswa yang memiliki karakter tanggung jawab egois, apatis dan tidak ada masalah sosial, kedua, untuk membangun karakter mahasiswa yang peduli masyarakat dan memiliki kesadaran kritis, pengajaran bahasa harus memiliki paradigma kritis. Abstract

There are two tendencies in comparative literary study. First, in comparative literary study, both of literatures from two countries are compared for certain points (theme, stylistic, setting, characterization, etc). Second, comparative literary study raises literary critical appreciation from other discipline perspectives (psychology, sociology, philosophy, religion, anthropology, politic). In this article, both tendencies are applied at once. The focus of this paper is about the theme in novels Harimau Harimau Muchtar Lubis and Moby Dick Herman Melville. It uses existentialism philosophical approach and criticism literature. The finding of the research, if we compare them, the existentialism theme in Harimau Harimau and Moby Dick has similarities that human being has freedom to determine her/his choice in her/his life for the future. Yet, what choice that she/he takes, it has a risk that she/he must face with responsibility as a human being. The pursuits of the responsibility caused anxiety, frightened, suffering as what the characters face in these novels.
