Abstract

Breeding value is one of on the selection program parameters which can be used to evaluate to improve genetic quality of cattle. BPTU-HPT Denpasar is goverment institution responsible in conserving bali cattle. This study was conducted to find out breeding value of birth weight, weaning weight and yearling weight calves in that institution. Data used in this study was secondary data collected from year 2012 to 2015. This study was carried out from July 14th to August 25th 2017. From those data, breeding value estimation of birth weight, weaning weight and yearling weight were collected. Calculation method used base on performance test by Hardjosubroto (1994). The results showed that breeding value of those parameter observed vary from upper and bellow average of the population year 2012 to 2015. The highest breeding value estimation of birth weight breeding ob tained was 0.46 kg (bulls number 0105.15 and 0110.15) on male calves, while as on female calves was 1.40 kg (cow number 0204.15) in 2015. Secondary parameter weaning weight was 9.94 kg (bull number 0137.13) on male calves and 9.90 kg (cow number 0233.13) on female calves in 2013. The last parameter calculated, yearling weight the highest breeding value estimation of male and female calves were 6.99 kg (bull number 0101.14) and 5.30 kg (cow number 0204.14) in 2014. Those calves which were have high breeding values, will be suggested to be replacement for culled cattle. Keywords : bali cattle, body weight, breeding value

Abstract

The activity was aimed to determine variation body size and body weight of bali calves in Balai Pembibitan Ternak Unggul dan Hijauan Pakan Ternak Denpasar. BPTU-HPT Denpasar was one of the implementation of the Job Training Students of Faculty Animal Husbandry, Udayana University 2016. The object of this activity was bali calf 8 age months. Variable were includes the bali calf width at the body weight, chest circumference, body length, and height shoulder. The method used the direct internship and analyze of data recording from BPTU-HPT Denpasar. Data descriptive method by using simple statistical analysis to calculate the average of body size and body weight as well as the coefficient of variability. The results showed that average of body weight, chest circumference, body length, and height are respectively 89.4 kg; 105.9 cm; 78.8 cm; and 84.7 cm. The variation in body size length body and shoulder height above 10% while in chest circumference below 10%. Keywords: Diversity, Body Size, Body Weight, Recording, Bali Cattle Calf Males

Abstract

The study aimed was to find out the physical composition of bali ducks female carcasses given fermented papaya leafs in the ration has been held in Kediri, Tabanan, during 3 months.  Data obtained was analyzed using Randomized Completely Design (RCD) were treated with three treatments and five replications with 45 bali ducks female were used in this study.  The treated including is P0 (commercial ration as a control), P1 (commercial ration + 5% fermented papaya leafs) and P2 (commercial ration + 10% fermented papaya leafs). The variables observed were: the carcass weight, meat weight, skin including subcutaneous fat weight, bone weight, carcass percentage, meat percentage, bone percentage, and skin including subcutaneous fat percentage. The results showed that carcass weight and meat weight of bali ducks female in P1 treatment significantly (P<0.05) higher then P0 treatment, but the treatment of P2 non significantly (P>0.05) higher then P0 treatment and non significantly (P>0.05) lower then P1 treatment. Bone weight, skin including subcutaneous fat weight, bone percentage, and skin including subcutaneous fat percentage in P1 and P2 treatment non significantly (P>0.05) lower then P0 treatment, while carcass percentage and meat percentage in P1 and P2 treatment non significantly (P>0.05) higher then P0 treatment.
