Abstract

ABSTRACT One way to effort increase rice production is to expend the cultivation area of rice on saline soil, so it needs to test of some varieties in order the varieties can adaptation. This research aims to obtain varieties of rice (Oryza sativa L.) that can be adapted to saline soil. The research was conducted in the Desa Serdang, North Sumatera at ± 1 m altitude above sea level and 1.5 – 2 km from the beach. The research was carried out in May until October 2011. The design of the experiment was randomized block design with 18 varieties that carried out a preliminary test before, in order get 5 varieties that can adapted to saline soil. The results showed that 5 varieties can adapted to the saline soil is Banyuasin, Siakraya, Martapura, Dendang, and Margasari. Martapura was better than the other varieties on plant height, number of tillers, number of productive tillers, panicle length, wet weight of roots and grain productions parameter. Abstract

Sehat Bahrin Padang : The Growth and Production Response of Some Maize VarietiesThrough by N and P Application. Supervised by Ir. Mbue Kata Bangun, MP andDr. Ir. Lollie Agustina P. Putri, M.Si. The use of Central Composite Rotatable Design (CCRD) wasto determine the response surface produce at maize not yet a lot of checked, for that a research hadbeen conducted in UPT BBI Tanjung Selamat, Regency of Deli Serdang, Province of NorthSumatra at ± 25 m above sea level, in May 2012 - August 2012 using randomized block design oftwo factors, the factors are varieties (Bisma and SHS-4) and NP fertilize (NP dose prescribed ofCCRD). Parameters measured were: plant height, the number of leaf, the number of leaf above cob,flowering age, harvesting age, cob lenght, cob diameter, wight 100 seeds, production of dry seeds.The results showed that the varieties significantly different in maize height, the number of leafs,flowering age, wight 100 seeds and dry seeds production. Fertilize sigificantly affects flowering ageand harvesting age. Interaction factor significantly affects flowering age and the number of leafabove cob.Keyword : maize, N and P fertilizer, varieties

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the response in growth and yield of maize PRG C7 genotype,C7, and DK 979 variety under different methods of weed control. The research had been conductedat Balai Benih Induk Tanaman Palawija, Sunggal District, North Sumatera on November 2013-Maret 2014 by using a randomized block design non factorial with four treatments (maize PRG C7genotype sprayed with glyphosate, PGR C7 genotype with manual weeding, C7 variety withmanual weeding, and DK 979 variety with manual weeding) and four replications. The resultsshowed that different weed control methods provide no significant effect on the growth of cornPRG C7 genotype, C7 and DK 979 varieties, that production of maize DK 979 variety withmanually weeded significantly larger than C7 maize variety with manually weeded such parametershusks cob weight, unhusks cob weight and number of seeds percob, glyphosate aplication andmanual weeding to maize PRG C7 genotype hadn’t showed the difference to the growth andproduction.Keywords : genotype, variety, glyphosate tolerant, weed control, maize

Abstract

The research aimed to know the influence by the time of application and concentration of paclobutrazol to growth of Sunflower. The research was carried out in the gauze house, Agricultural Faculty of North Sumatera University from September 2013 to January 2014. This research used Split Plot Design with two factors. Main plot was time of application of paclobutrazol consist of three levels: 3 weeks after planting (WAP);4 WAP; 5 WAP. Sub plot was Paclobutrazol concentration consist of four levels are 0 ppm; 50 ppm; 100 ppm; 150 ppm. The parameters in this research were plant height, number of leaf, stem diameter and root length.The results showed that time of application of paclobutrazol has no effect significantly yet to all parameters. Paclobutrazol concentration give effect significantly to plant height and stem diameter on 6 WAP until 11 WAP. While interaction between time of application and concentration of paclobutrazol have no effect significantly yet to all parameters.Keywords: paclobutrazol, sunflower, time of application

Abstract

The objective of this research was to document and characterize phenotypically cassava genotypes. Using survey methodology, the sample of cassava genotypes were collected from three sub-districts of Serdang Bedagai Regency, i.e. Perbaungan, Serbajadi, and Dolok Masihul with three villages for each sub-district, i.e. Jambur Pulau, Suka Jadi, Lidah Tanah, Tanjung Harap, Kuala Bali, Karang Tengah, Dolok Manampang, Kota Tengah, and Kampung Mangga. This descriptor list aims at helping to standardize characterization data was taken from National Commision for Genetic Resources 2014 i.e; the ratio of lobe length to lobe width of of central leaf lobe, number of leaf lobe, petiole length, petiole color, plant height, distance between lef scar, color of upper stem, color of stem exterior, color of stem epidermis, diameter of cassava root, length of cassava root, number of cassava root/plant, average of cassava root weight, and cassava productivities. The result of research showed the specific characteristics of cassavas which have different lower and upper stem in case of color which were green, reddish green, grey, and amber; different colors of cassava root cortex which were rose/ white, yellow, and amber. The result obtained 7 genotypes of cassava that with various local name depend on the lecation i,e; Malaysia, Roti, Adira-1, Kalimantan (Banjar), Valencia, Lampung and Pulut.Keywords: Cassava, identification, inventarisation

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian vermikompos dan pupuk P terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman kedelai. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian USU (± 25 m dpl) pada Maret – Juni 2015 menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok faktorial 2 faktor yaitu pemberian vermikompos (0, 0,25, 0,5 dan 0,75 kg/polibag) dan pemberian pupuk P (0, 0,625, 1,25 dan 1,825 g/polibag). Parameter yang diamati antara lain tinggi tanaman (cm), diameter batang (mm), umur berbunga (hari), bobot basah akar (g), bobot kering akar (g), bobot basah tajuk (g), bobot kering tajuk (g), volume akar (ml), jumlah cabang produktif, jumlah polong per tanaman, jumlah polong berisi, bobot 100 biji kering (g) dan umur panen (hari). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian vermikompos dan pupuk P berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter kecuali umur panen (hari) dan bobot 100 biji kering. Interaksi antara vermikompos dan pupuk P berpengaruh nyata terhadap umur berbunga tanaman kedelai. Hasil yang terbaik diperoleh pada dosis vermikompos 0,75 kg/polibag dan pupuk P 0,625 g/polibag.Kata kunci : vermikompos, Pupuk P, kedelai

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapatkan individu terpilih pada generasi F5 kedelai berdasarkan karakter produksi tinggi hasil persilangan Detam-2 dengan Grobogan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Lahan Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan dengan ketinggian tempat ± 32 m diatas permukaan  laut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret sampai Juli 2018. Parameter yang diamati adalah umur berbunga, tinggi tanaman, jumlah cabang primer, umur panen, jumlah polong per tanaman, jumlah polong berisi per tanaman, jumlah biji per tanaman, bobot biji per tanaman dan bobot 100 biji. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat 23 sampel genotipe yang memiliki produksi tinggi. Seleksi pedigree yang dilakukan pada tanaman kedelai generasi F5 masing-masing famili terbaik dari hasil persilangan.
