Abstract

The research was conducted in mountain rain forest of Sibolangit, Deli Serdang, Northen Sumatera. The objectives of this research are to know litter fall productivity, decomposition and litterfall nutrients. Litterfall is the fallen leaves, twigs, flowers and fruits to forest-floor, which one of the input of nutrients to anorganic sril. This input is one of the nutrients cycling to forest ecosystem and the other form atmosfer and a lot of animals. Based on available data on 20 traps, litterfall productivity 5,91 gr/m2/week or 3073,2 kg/ha/year in high topography. Litterfall productivity 4,92gr/m2/week or 2558,4 kg/ha/year in low topography. Litterfall decomposition (lossed of weight) about 25,48% in 30 days ( 1 month ) for meranti ( Shorea sp ) and leaves of Ficus sp had lossed of weight about 8,09% in 30 days ( 1 month ). Ration C/N (Carbon-Nitrogen) litterfall and soil moisture made differrent litterfall decomposition (lossed of weight)   Keywords : Productivity, Decomposition, Litterfall, Productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the learning outcomes of students who were taught usingcooperative learning model Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model on Conventional viralmaterial in class X SMA Negeri 1 Ujungpadang Learning Year 2016/2017. The population in this studywere all students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Ujungpadang Learning Year 2015/2016 consisting of 4classes with the number of students as many as 150 people. The sampling method were taken bypurposive sampling (trailer accidentally) the X4 class numbering 37 students as NHT classes and classX1 class of 40 students as conventional. This type of research is an experimental research. The testresults of pretest before being given a different treatment, which is the average value of the pretestNHT class was 38.37 with a standard deviation of 8.84 and average value of pretest Conventionalclass was 37.56 with a standard deviation of 8,31. In the pretest data testing showed that bothclasses of normally distributed data in the two classes and homogeneous. Then after a giventreatment, namely through a different learning model obtained postests with an average yield ofNHT class was 77.20 with a standard deviation of 8.17 and the average yield is 72.5 Conventionalclass with a standard devias 9.81. From the data processing postest found that t = 2.51 and table =1.995 at the level of α = 0.05 so thitung >ttable (2.51 > 0.1995), then H0 is accepted that there is realdifference in statistics on the learning outcomes of students taught using NHT model onConventional viral material in class X SMA Negeri 1 Ujungpadang learning Year 2016/2017.Keywords: NHT, Conventional, Learning Achievement, Virus

Abstract

General biology teaching materials are learning resources used by first batch students of all majors at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Unimed. General Biology teaching materials based on current investigations, namely to respond to the industrial revolution 4.0 must be in accordance with the BSNP. This General Biology teaching material was validated by 2 lecturers who are in charge of the General Biology course. Dissemination to see the effectiveness of General Biology teaching materials through trials. The step was taken through a small group of 10 students who took the General Biology lecture, the result of which was to get an A grade of 80% and a B grade of 20%. The large group test of 43 biology students class of 2020 by giving a test, the results of which were 77% A, 21% B, and 2% C, means that the expected learning indicators have been achieved. General Biology teaching materials are distributed to General Biology lecturers. General Biology teaching materials are appropriate based on the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of student biology learning using mnemonic method on protista material in grade X SMA Budi Murni 3 Medan School Year 2017/2018. The population of this study were all students of grade X SMA Budi Murni 3 Medan which amounted to 67 students consisting of two classes namely X A and X B. Sampling in this study was done randomly (random sampling) that is class X A consisting of 32 students. This research is a pre-experiment research. Instruments used to collect data are objective tests in multiple choice that have been tested to try validity, reliability, difficulty and distinguishing power. The instrument used is 25 questions. From the data analysis, students recalled in classical manner that is 70,5%. Based on the results of the data, the effectiveness can be illustrated with individual students' recollections of 15 students having R ≥ 70 (46.87%), 11 students having 60 <R <70 (34.37%) and 6 students having R <60 (18 , 75%). The effectiveness of treatment is not met where t count is greater than ttable that is 15,33> 1,6955 so H1 accepted where there is difference siginfikan between result of posttest and retest. So it can be concluded that the use of methods of mnemonics in protista material in grade X SMA Budi Murni 3 Medan Year Learning 2017/2018 is not effective.Keywords: Mnemonics, Effectiveness, Memory

Abstract

Pengembangan bahan ajar biologi umum untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar/buku teks yang ber-ISBN sehingga dapat digunakan di kalangan yang luas. Menyusun sebuah buku teks pelajaran harus disesuaikan dengan undang-undang yang berlaku, diantaranya syarat penulisan buku teks pelajaran yang telah ditetapkan oleh Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan (BSNP). Pengembangan bahan ajar adalah proses penyempurnaan berdasarkan analisis data uji coba. Aspek yang diungkap untuk melakukan revisi meliputi: (1) ketepatan isi materi dari ahli isi, (2) ketepatan  rancangan bahan ajar dari ahli media pembelajaran, (3) hasil uji coba sasaran yang terdiri dari uji coba perorangan, uji coba kelompok kecil, serta uji coba kelompok besar. Bahan ajar biologi umum yang dipakai pada tahun pembelajaran 2018/2019 masih ada kekurangan, karena proses pembuatannya belum mengikuti acuan dari BNSP. Angket dan bahan ajar divalidasi oleh ahli yang berkompeten di bidangnya. Hasil validasi kemudian digunakan untuk merevisi bahan ajar, dilanjutkan uji coba ke mahasiswa biologi. Hasilnya uji coba ke mahasiswa direvisi kembali sampai sesuai dengan acuan BNSP. Hasil analisis angket kemudian diinterpretasi dengan persentase kriteria kelayakan. Setelah hasilnya layak kemudian bahan ajar dijadikan buku/bahan ajar biologi umum teks yang ber-ISBN.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the differences in student learning outcomes using model Inquiry Training with Conventional learning in the subject matter of the virus in class X SMA Negeri 1 Lubukpakam. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research. The sample in this study is the Experiment Class I (X4) and Class Experiment II (X3) each as many as 41 students. The results showed differences in learning outcomes of students taught using learning model Inquiry Training with conventional learning. Based on the average value of student learning outcomes in the classroom Inquiry Training at 84.15 with a standard deviation of 7.51, while the average value of the conventional classroom student learning outcomes at 80.24 with a standard deviation of 8.02. The big difference in learning outcomes can be proved by testing the hypothesis by using t-test and the level of confidence where  tcount> ttable namely 2.277 > 1.664, which means in this study H0 while receiving Ha so it can be concluded that there is a difference in student learning outcomes significantly after being taught to use Training Inquiry learning model with conventional learning in the subject matter of the virus in class X SMA Negeri 1 Lubukpakam year study 2016/2017.Keywords: Model Inquiry Training, Learning Conventional and Virus.

Abstract

This research aims to know the student’s learning difficulty on the material of Human Excretion System from cognitive aspects and indicator aspects and factors causing students learning difficulties on the Human Excretion System on class XI IPA SMA Swasta Teladan Medan Academic Year 2017/2018. The population of this research is all students of class XI IPA which amounts to 118 students. The sample was taken by purposive sampling which amounts to 45 students. The instruments used to obtain data were tested student learning outcomes in the material of the Human Excretion System and learning difficulties questionnaire. The results of the research showed that students were categorized as incomplete. The percentage of student learning difficulties in cognitive aspect for C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6 is 40,11% (medium), 37,82% (low), 41,69% (medium), 53,39% (medium), 49,15% (medium), dan 60,45% (high). The percentage of student learning difficulties based on the learning indicators is mentioned the meaning of the excretion system and its organs in the amount of 37,29% (low), identify the structure and function of the kidney in the amount of 35,59% (low), describe the structure of the nephron and explain the process of human urine formation in the amount of 42,91% (medium), identify the structure and function of the liver in the amount of 42,94% (medium), identify the structure and function of the lung in the amount of 47,46% (medium), identify the structure and function of the skin in the amount of 48,31% (medium), and determine abnormalities or diseases in human excretory organs in the amount of 55,37% (medium). Difficulties in the indicators of structure and function of the kidney and the process of formation of urine are categorized as inhibitory. Indicators of the understanding of the excretion system and its organs, the structure and function of the lung, the structure and function of the liver, abnormalities in the human excretory system, and the learning system in the material of the human excretory system are quite inhibiting categories. While indicators of the structure and function of the skin are categorized as not inhibiting.

Abstract

This research aims to develop audiovisual-based learning media on the topic of the immune system in class XI of SMA Negeri 12 Medan during the academic year 2021/2022. The method used in this study is research and development. The research subjects consist of Subject Matter Experts, Learning Media Experts, Biology Subject Teachers, and students of class XI MIA at SMA Negeri 12 Medan. Data collection was conducted through instruments such as expert validation assessment sheets, teacher assessments, and student responses. The development of learning media was carried out using the 4D instructional development model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate). Each stage of this model underwent revisions to produce high-quality audiovisual learning media products. The results of the study showed that the assessment by subject matter experts obtained a percentage of 100% (Highly Suitable), the assessment by learning media experts obtained a percentage of 82.81% (Suitable), and the assessment by the biology subject teacher obtained a percentage of 100% (Very Good). The students' feedback and responses to the learning media also obtained a percentage of 81.66% (Very Good). The results of the comprehension test on the learning media for the students, based on the pretest scores, showed an average of 49.75 (Low), while the posttest results showed an average of 76.96 (High). Thus, it can be concluded that the audiovisual learning media on the topic of the immune system meet the criteria of being "Highly Suitable" and fulfill the requirements in the biology learning process.
