Abstract

Neonatal jaundice is one of the causes of neonatal death in Indonesia. Jaundice can be caused by the accumulation of unconjugated bilirubin, one of which is due to lack of breastfeeding in the first week of birth. This literature study aimed to determine the relationship between the frequency of breastfeeding and the incidence of neonatal jaundice. This literature study was conducted by determining the topic and formulating the PICOT. The criteria for articles reviewed by articles spanning the years 2016-2020 and using the Google Scholar database. The keywords used were “ASI” AND “Icterus neonatorum” or “Breastfeeding” AND “Jaundice”. Based on a review of 5 research articles, it was found that if breastfeeding was carried out with a frequency of 8-12 times per day, newborns could experience physiological neonatal jaundice. A review of 4 articles showed that there was a relationship between breastfeeding and neonatal jaundice and 1 article showed that there was no relationship between breastfeeding and neonatal jaundice. The more frequent breastfeeding, the lower the possibility of neonatal jaundice. This shows the role of midwives and breastfeeding counselors in providing IEC during pregnancy and breastfeeding, breastfeeding practices include the position of the breast attachment, implementation of IMD in newborns without complications, and breastfeeding immediately after the baby is born, all of which can support the frequency of breastfeeding and reduce the incidence of neonatal jaundice Keywords: Breastfeeding, Neonatal Jaundice

Abstract

Pregnancy is a physiological process, however, a normal pregnancy can develop into pathology. WHO estimates that 15% of pregnant women develop complications. Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication that can harm the mother and the baby. Gestational weight gain during pregnancy can result from overweight or pregnancy obesity, which is a risk factor of preeclampsia. The goal of this literature review is to determine the correlation between gestational weight gain and the risk of preeclampsia. This research methodology employed a Systematic Mapping Study, in which the article is selected based on the protocols and filters determined at the outset. The articles were investigated between 2016 and 2020 using the Google Scholar, PubMed, and DOAJ databases. The total population of 311 research articles and 7 sample articles describe the correlation between gestational weight gain and the risk of preeclampsia. 57% of 7 articles indicated that pregnant women had excessive weight gain, 71% of 7 articles indicated that women with preeclampsia have gestational weight gain and 43% of 7 articles indicated that there is a correlation between gestational weight gain and the risk of preeclampsia. Midwives are expected to improve the quality of antenatal care services to prevent preeclampsia by providing preeclampsia information and education, as well as screening for early detection.

Abstract

The global rate of teenage pregnancy is still high, at 41/1000 women. In Indonesia, approximately 7% of women aged 15 - 19 have given birth or are currently pregnant with their first child. It has impact on the low rate (48,8%) of exclusive breastfeeding among mothers aged under 20 years. That is possibly related to several factors. The purpose of this research was to determine the factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding of mothers aged under 20 years. This research used a traditional review design to conducted a literature review which the literature is scientific articles, both national and international, that are relevant to the research topic. The articles were found using the keywords ("exclusive breastfeeding" AND ("adolescent mother" OR "teenage mother") in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Selected articles based on the PEOS framework and research criteria, then compared and contrasted for analysis. From analysis was found that 3 articles mention the lack knowledge of mothers, two of which are in line with the low rate of exclusive breastfeeding. Ten articles showed about family support with mostly supporting exclusive breastfeeding. Two out of 3 articles explained the lack of support from health workers for mothers and the other one did not provide support for exclusive breastfeeding. The results indicated that maternal knowledge, family support, and health workers support were related to exclusive breastfeeding among mothers aged under 20 years. Knowledge and support from families and health workers to mothers aged under 20 years contribute importantly in influencing exclusive breastfeeding. AND (“adolescent mother” OR “teenage mother”)).

Abstract

Menstrual pain is a condition that bothers most women regardless of age, with the highest percentage being in their teens. Menstrual pain is categorized into mild, moderate, severe and very severe pain. Women who experience menstrual pain can interfere with their activities ranging from daily activities, school to work. One way to reduce menstrual pain non-pharmacologically is to use acupressure. This study aimed to determine the effect of acupressure on menstrual pain in adolescents. This was a literature Review with Systematic Mapping Study (Scoping Study) design. This study used journals published in the last 5 years. The ten journals used were obtained from the Google Schoolar, PubMed and Sciencedirect databases. The journals obtained had passed the selection based on the year of publication, the suitability of the title with keywords, the feasibility of the journal, the ability to access, duplication and inclusion criteria. The journal was then analyzed using the instrument of presenting the results of a literature review. The most widely used acupressure point was sanyinjiao (Sp 6) by pressing or massaging. The intensity of menstrual pain after being given acupressure was decreased, the average pain intensity decreased between before and after being given acupressure starting from a scale of 0.86 to 6.7. The results of the analysis of all journals show P value < a, which meant that there was a significant effect of giving acupressure on decreasing the intensity of menstrual pain in adolescents. Giving acupressure by pressing or massaging certain meridians can increase the levels of endorphins that are useful for reducing the intensity of menstrual pain in adolescents. Education about proper massage techniques will help reduce the level of pain that occurs during menstruation.
