Abstract

Abstract. The experiment aimed to find effect of cassava peel (manihot utilisima) which fermented on performance of local sheep male. The research was conducted at Jl. Bunga Rinte, Simpang Selayang, Medan, in October - December 2017 using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The experiment used 20 of local sheep male weaning with initial body weight of 10.18 ± 1kg. The treatment provided is P0 (Fermented Cassava peel 0%), P1 (Fermented Cassava peel 20%), P2 (Fermented Cassava peel 40%), and P3 (Fermented Cassava peel 60%). The observed of parameters are feed comsumption, average daily gain, feed vonversion (FCR) and income over feed cost (IOFC). The result of this research indicated that utilization of cassava peel (Manihot utiliima)fermented on performance of local sheep with the average consumption of sheep feed (g/head/day) are: 330.01; 364.99; 391.76; and 402.92, average daily gain (g/head/day): 52.86; 71.88; 84.36; and 101.80 and ration conversion: 6.42; 5.17; 4.78; dan 4.04. The conclusion of this research is the higher use of fermented cassava peel the better also the effect on improve of body weight, feed consumption and conversion of local males feed. The highest IOFC value is found in P3 with an average of Rp.276.656,01 during the research.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of extracts of garlic (Allium sativum L.) and ginger (Zingiber officinale) on the growth of broiler chickens infected with E. coli. The design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment consisted of P0A = control without infection, P0B = control + E. coli infection, P1 = E. coli infection + 0.05% tetracycline antibiotics, P2 = E. coli infection + 1% garlic (Allium sativum L.) extract , P3 = E. coli infection + 1% ginger (Zingiber officinale) extract and P4 = E. coli infection + garlic (Allium sativum L) extract and 1% ginger (Zingiber officinale). The results showed that the administration of garlic and ginger extract had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the decrease in the number of Escherichia coli bacteria in broiler chicken feces. The combination of extracts of garlic (Allium sativum L.) and red ginger (Zingiber officinale) has the most effective effect compared to garlic and ginger extract alone. It was concluded that the administration of extracts of garlic and ginger could be used as Escherichia coli control in broiler chickens.

Abstract

Abstrak. This study aims to determine the provision of gambir solution (Uncaria gambir Roxb) to the number of E. coli colonies in broiler chickens. The research method used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments consists of P0A= Control without infection; P0B = (0%), P1=(2%), P2 = (4%), P3 = (6%), P4 = Tetracycline antibiotics (0.05%). The results showed addition of gambir solution (Uncaria gambir Roxb) gave significant effect (P<0,05) to amount of E. coli colony in broiler chicken.    E. coli colonies total in the treatment phase given average for treatment P0A, P0B, P1, P2, P3, P4, sequentially 6.97, 7.80, 6.88, 6.69, 6.34, 6.91 (CFU Log / g). Addition dose with 2-6% of gambir solution effectively reduced the number of    E. coli colonies in broiler chickens. The addition dose of gambir solution 2% was able to compensate tetracycline antibiotics to controlling E. coli in broiler chickens.

Abstract

Abstract. The Utilization of Planting White Oyster Mushroom Media Wastes (Pleurotus ostreatus) fermented by Starbio on Local Sheep male Performances. White osyter mushroom media waste is one of agricultural waste can be utilized sheep. The research have been conducting for 3 month ago. The purpose of this research is to find  out and learn the influence of the use of white osyter mushroom media waste in fermentation with starbio performances on male local sheep. This study used 20 male local sheep. The method used was a complete randomized design which consist of four treatments and five replications. The treatment consists of 4 types with utilization of planting white oyster mushroom media wastes different P0, P1, P2, and P3 are 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% respectively. The result of this reseacrh showed that P0, P1, P2, and P3 treatment were significanly differences (P≤0,01) in feed consumption, average daily gain but had no significanly (P≥0,05) in feed convertion ration ration. Based on this research can be concluded that the utilization of media wastes planted white oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) fermented by Starbio on 10% level increase feed consumption, average daily gain and income over feed cost local sheep male.

Abstract

This study aims to test the reliability or accuracy of various types of tape measure and develop models measuring tape and body weight estimation formula based on the size of the heart girth at horse. This research was conducted in Humbang Hasundutan district, North Tapanuli  district, Karo district, and Samosir district in May-July 2017. The tape measure used is the measuring tape Agrotech, Animeter and Rondo, then use a formula Schoorl and Smith as a comparison, and using a simple correlation analysis in testing research data. Estimating body weight in the horse that is closest to using a measuring tape based on the regression formula that has been obtained from this study. The result showed that the estimation of body weight for horse using measuring tape Agrotech, Animeter and Rondo obtained deviation 13,22% for male horse and 9,21% for female horse. It is concluded that estimation weight closest to horse is using a regression formula, that for male horse Y = -665,72+6,14X with deviation 0,43% and for female horse Y = -707,97+6,34X with deviation 0,28%.
