Abstract

Survey volume of daily traffic for the planning and supervision of pavement road manually requires effort, time and cost is not cheap. Besides that, accuracy, and speed in getting the data are not timely, especially as real-time data. This study aims to get an intelligent survey model that will function to get daily traffic volume data automatically and in real-time, as well as its processing. The methodology used is to model the survey process by utilizing smart devices, microcontrollers, sensors, and the internet of things, as well as cloud and client-server programming. The survey process model can be divided into two parts, namely part one whose task is to collect vehicle data and part two to collect the axle load of each vehicle, then the data will be sent through an access point to the cloud, cloud data is taken from the access point at the data processing center on the server computer to done processing. The model generating information volume data traffic at speeds up to 67.4 Mbps, to accurately the data 98%, and the real-time and the results of data processing can be used as surveillance of pavement age.

Abstract

Pavement maintenance for the road network in Surabaya does not yet have a scientific basis such as monitoring and evaluation. This study illustrates the possibility of applying a Decision Support System (DSS) in pavement maintenance management to evaluate the asphalt pavement surface conditions. Common types of Asphalt Concrete pressures include (Asphalt hemorrhage, various pavement cracking modes, pot holes, longitudinal and transverse deformations) with various conditions of severity and intensity included in the system database, mathematical models for calculating severity and levels for each type of distress as well entered. This software was developed in the Microsoft Visual Basic environment using a logic programming process. The pavement condition rating (PCR) of the road section will be determined by the system. The system suggests necessary maintenance actions based on an estimated increase in pavement age and on the cost of alternative treatments. This system is examined in evaluating the asphalt pavement surface conditions of the freeway to Juanda International Airport. Traditional visual inspection and manual calculation procedures have also been carried out. The sidewalk surface is divided into sections, and the sidewalk condition is visually visible Evaluated and assessed using specially designed forms, ranking is in the range (26-93)% representing "very bad to very good" conditions for the road section based on the ranking index provided . Data is entered into the decision support system software developed. The results are very much in accordance with the results of software development. It was concluded that the Decision Support System developed, can help planners, or policy makers to support decision making in the maintenance of pavement.

Abstract

The quality of online learning in institutions of higher education has become a growing concern in recent years. While some studies have focused on faculty and administrator perceptions, there is a lack of research conducted on students' perceptions of the quality of online education. This study uses qualitative methods to investigate students' perceptions from two universities and one community college regarding the quality of online education based on their own online learning experiences.Interviews and observations were conducted with three students. Various documents are collected, digitally, and printed. Positive and negative experiences of students are examined. Factors contributing to the experiences were also identified. The findings of this study reveal that flexibility, cost-effectiveness, availability of electronic research, easy connection to the Internet, and a well-designed classroom interface are positive experiences for students. Student negative experiences are caused by delayed feedback from the instructor, lack of technical support from the instructor, lack of self-regulation and self-motivation, a sense of isolation, monotonous teaching methods, and poorly designed course content. These findings can be used by instructors to understand students' perceptions about online learning, and ultimately improve their online learning practices.
