Abstract

Raja’s banana fibers have the best tensile endurance between the others. The characteristic, could be used making rope that can be used for binding, pulling, trapping, tethering, hanging and others in accordance with the rope usefulness. The research was aimed to know the endurance of Raja’s banana fiber rope with and without NaOH solution on the rope tensile test. Results of the research indicated that the two, three and four twists with and without NaOH 5% during two hour gave the different results of tensile strength, strain, deformation, elasticity and flexing. The highest result of tensile strength was on the three twist condition (with treatment) i.e. 515,92×105 Nm-2. The highest result of strain was on the three twist condition (with treatment) i.e. 1,98. The highest result of deformation was on the three twist condition (with treatment) i.e. 0,099 m. The highest result of elasticity was on the four twist condition (with treatment) i.e. 318,47×105 Nm-2. And the highest result of flexing was on the four twist condition (with treatment) i.e. 64%. Key words: Raja’s banana stems fiber, rope, twisting, NaOH, tensile test.

Abstract

In Power plant Irrigation water ,one of the component of the turbines is the blade. This study was aimed to examine the number of blades on water mill power generation in Medan Krio Irrigation. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 8, 10, and 12 blades respectively. Parameters observed were flow  rate power, voltage, rpm generator rotation. The result showed that the mean flow rate were 0,040 m blade /s at the 8 blades; 0,047 /s at the 10 blade and 0,048 /s at the 12 blade. The mean electric power was 161.180 Watt at the 8 blades; 175.120 Watt at the 10 blade; and  181.380 Watt at the 12 blade . Electric voltage mean was 7.418 volts at the  8 blade;  7.582 volts at the 10 blade of; 8.242 volts and at the 12 blade. Mean of the water miil rpm was at the  64.618 rpm at the 8 blade;  was 66.190 rpm at the 10 blade; was 67.480 rpm at the 12 blade. The mean generator Rpm  1332.744 rpm at the  blade; 1369.605 rpm at the 10 blade and 1391.781 rpm at the 12 blade Keywords: water mill, Irrigation, Blade, Electrical Power

Abstract

The production process that includes pre-harvest until postharvest requires the support of various effective facilities and infrastructure, development equipments and agricultural machinery is among the way of increasing agricultural production. To support this we need a mechanical onion peeler driven by electricity. The study was conducted by literature study and observation on the onion peeler, and then to design the coupling components of the  mechanical onion peeler. The effective capacity of the tool was 14.15 kg / hr. The value of the effective capacity of the tool is larger than the onion peeler driven by human power. Basic costs to be incurred in peeling onions with this tool was Rp. 751,904/kg in the 1st year, Rp.647,531/kg in the 2nd year, Rp. 624,771/kg in the 3rd year, Rp. 613,441/kg in the 4th year, and Rp. 606,609/kg in the 5th year. This tool will reach the break even point when the value has peeling corn amounted to 8624,85 kg/year. Net present value of these tools with an interest rate of 6% Rp. 14.553.501,5 whichmeant that the business was feasible to run. The internalrate of return was 40,93%.   Keywords: design equpments, mechanical peeler, onion.

Abstract

The dependence of people consume rice is not followed by the increase of rice production. Therefore on, alternative foodstuffs is needed such as cassava which can be processed into gaplek, and cassava flour. This research was done in Agriculture Engineering Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, and Food Science and Technology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture in Oktober 2014 until March 2015 using non factorial completely design with tray holes diameter of (D1) 3 mm, (D2) 5 mm, and (D3) 7 mm. The parameters analysed were processing capacity, moisture content, yield, and brightness level. The results, showed that, the best drying cassava is produced by (D2) 5 mm. Keywords : Cassava, Dryer, Tray holes
