Abstract

Preharvest Technology of Information systems in Deli Serdang regency was done manually, resulting in ineffective and inefficient information storage and processing systems. More than that, the information seekers-and decision-makers also have difficult in obtaining the data they need. Therefore it is necessary for  futher develope the information system. Web-based information system is considered to be a solution in order to acces information faster, systematic cally and easy to use. For that a designed based on information system in the management of Preharvest Technology in Deli Serdang regency was developed. Preharvest Technology Information System was designed using PHP programming language, MySQL database and the system development Lifecycle (SDLC) method. Abstract

One of the components which determines the post-harvest handling technology is the use of post-harvest equipment, such as a flat burr mill type bean grinder. This study was aimed at examining the coffee bean grinder flat burr mill type using red rice with three level of smoothness, i. e: level 1, level 2 and level 3. Parameters observed were: equipment effective capacity, percentage of lose material, smoothness of milled red rice and carbohydrate content.The results showed that the effective capacity at smoothness 1 was 8.13 kg/h, smoothness 2 was 13.88 kg/h and smoothness 3 was 18.558 kg/h. percentage of material lost at smoothness 1 was 1.034 %, at level 2 was 0.234 % and level 3 was 0.151 %. The size of red rice milled for all level was 50 mesh. The carbohydrate content of red rice at level 1 was 79.4975 % , at level 2 was 78.5546 % and at level 3 was   78.0174 % . Abstract

Roughness of canal give effect to the speed of the water flow in it, which in the next, will affect to the efficiency and size of canal. Factors that affect to the canal roughness values ​​are wet surface canal constituent materials; The physical properties of the soil in canal; Irregularity of the canal; Vegetation growing in canal and scouring and deposition factor in canal. Research results indicated that scouring occured in canal which effect to the irregularities in the canal, so that solidify soil and material loading in canal surface were  needed. At the tertiary canal one manning roughness value was 0.0462 and chezy was 13.78; at the tertiary canal two manning roughness value was 0.0387 and  chezy was 15.98 and at the tertiary canal three manning roughness values was 0.0574 and chezy was 11.38. Abstract

The processing of grains that contained starch into foodstuffs (chip) is an interesting thing to be known, one of the process is material’s pressing. The purpose of this research was to design, build, test and analyze the economic value of grains’ chip molder. The parameters observed were effective capacity, percentage of damaged material, organoleptic’s test and economic analysis. Based on this research, it was summarized that the effective capacity of the equipment was 2.82 kg/hour and the damaged material’s percentage was 8.07%. The color was categorized as 2 (white), the thickness was categorized as 1 (thin) and the flavor was categorized as 2 (medium). Economic analysis was as follows: basic costs for the first to the fifth year was Rp. 4,286.8/kg, Rp. 3,968.21/kg, Rp. 3,862.16/kg, Rp. 3,809.22/kg and Rp. 3,777.53/kg respectively. Break even point (BEP) for the first to the fifth year was 289.78 kg/year, 156.22 kg/year, 111.77 kg/year, 89.57 kg/year and 76.29 kg/year respectively. Internal rate of return (IRR) was 45.72%. Abstract

Pitchers that are made of clay loam and burnt with high temperature have ability to autoregulate soil irrigation which is an efficient technique among other system of irrigation. The Important physical characteristics of pitcher are hydraulic conductivity and porosity. This research was one of preliminary study in making regulation of pitcher physical characteristics using sanding methode. This research was performed using non factorial randomized block design. Parameters analyzed were porosity, hydraulic conductivity, water seepage volume and soil surface wetting distance. The result showed the sanding methode had no significant effect on porosity, hydraulic conductivity, water seepage volume and soil surface wetting distance. Abstract

Indonesia has many sources of renewable energy. One of them is biomass. This research was carried out to try some fuel from biomass to be used in agricultural polymer waste equipment. Biomass which used in this research were candlenut shell, coconut shell, and wood. Parameters used were equipment effective capacity, the percentage of polypropylene plastic residue, the percentage of fuel residue, oil volume, melting point, and the melting time. The results were: equipment effective capacity for candlenut shell fuel, coconut shell fuel, and wood fuel were 0 ml/hour, 62,22 ml/hour, and 77,66 ml/hour respectively. The percentage of plastic residue generated for candlenut shell, coconut shell, and wood fuel were 53.33%, 22.67%, and 20% respectively. The percentage of residue fuel for candlenut shell fuel, coconut shell fuel, and wood fuel were 35.67%, 16.87%, and 16% respectively. The volume of oil produced for candlenut shell fuel, coconut shell fuel, and wood fuel were 0 ml, 93.33 ml, and 110 ml respectively. The melting point obtained from the burning of fuel wood and coconut shell was 250 0C and the candlenut shell fuel was 175 0C. Melting time resulted in fuel of candlenut shell, coconut shell, and wood were 3.1 hours, 1.5 hours, and 1.44 hours respectively. Keywords : Biomass fuel, Plastic waste, and Pyrolysis.

Abstract

The pulley diameter of grain’s chip molder is needed to care. The pulley diameter will affect product quality. Pulley diameter were tested to know the quality of grain’s chip produced. Research had been conducted at agricultural engineering laboratory, Agricultural faculty USU in April –August 2014 using factorial randomized block design with one factor i.e 2,5, 3,5, and 4,5 inch. Parameters observed were organoleptic test (color), yield, process capacity, uniformity of the thickness and parcentage of damage product. The results showed that the pulley diameter had no effect on the organoleptic test (color), yield and uniformity of the thickness; had significant effect on process capacity and had highly significant on parcentage of damage product. Abstract

One way to increase agricultural output in by agricultural intensification. One example of agricultural intensification is the use of appropriate processing resources. This study was aimed to assess the comparative efficiency of production costs and field capacity of processing time and processing resources of land use. Parameters measured were effective field capacity, the efficiency of tractors, fuel consumption, and economic analysis/processing fee. The results showed that the processing resources and processing time on wetland soil had significant effect on the effective field capacity and energy efficiency of the engine. Effective field capacity in the processing of land by human power in the morning was 0.056Ha/h and in the afternoon was 0.081Ha/h. Effective field capacity on the ground with the processing power of the engine in the morning was 0.787Ha/h and in the afternoon was 1,148Ha/h. The efficiency of the tractor in the morning was 61.357% with a fuel consumption was 1,041liters/hour. The efficiency of tractors in the afternoon was 89.492% with a fuel consumption was 1,338liters/hour. Processing costs for manpower resources in the morning and with afternoon was 2.000.000Rp/Ha and for the source of mechanical power in the morning was 882.300Rp/Ha and in the afternoon was 881.400 Rp/Ha. Abstract

The increase of production and quality of palm oil and palm kernel oil is strongly influenced by the production of fresh fruit bunches. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase the production of fresh fruit bunches. Pabatu estate is one of business unit of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV that has head office in Medan, North Sumatera and engaged in the business of oil palm plantation and processing. The Study was aimed to analyze factors that influence the cost application in achieving production target, such as maintenance, premi harvest, security, and transportation. The factors were analized by Analythical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The results showed that maintenance cost was in first priority with the quality value of 0,4255. Security cost wast in the second priority with quality value of 0,2739. Harvest premi cost was in the third priority with quality value of 0,1613, and transportation cost was in the fourth priority with quality value of 0,1391, so that PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Unit Pabatu should pay attention to maintenance cost in achieving production target Keywords: Analythical Hierarchy Process, Crude palm oil, Palm kernel oil, Fresh fruit bunch, Production system.

Abstract

Field eficiency and production cost in this research was to get information on rice field tillage using two-wheels tractor, to calculate effective field capacity and field efficiency, fuel consumption and production cost of tillage using some rice field tillage tools. This research used non-factorial completely random design with treatment of plow types (P) consisted of three types i.e: (P1= Singkal plow, P2= Rotary plow I, P3= Rotary plow II). The parameters were field capacity, fuel consumption, tractor efficiency, and economic analysis.The results showed that the treatments of rice field tillage gave significant effect on effective field capacity, efficiency and fuel consumption. The highest effective field capacity of all the rice field tillage was on field 1 and field 3. The highest tillage efficiency was on field 2. The highest fuel consumption was on field 3.
