Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain the level of biochar on the growth and production of king grass and the best planting distance on the growth and production of king grass and the interaction between the levels of biochar and the regulation of growth and production of king grass. The study was conducted in the experimental area of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Timor, Sasi Village, South Bikomi District, North Central Timor Regency. The research lasted for 48 days or during 1 production period. Each production period lasts for 48 HST. The method used in this study is an experimental method, using a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial pattern of 3x3. The factors tested were the first factor in the biochar level and the second factor was the spacing and each combination of experiments was repeated 3 times. The variables observed in this study were plant height, number of tillers, number of leaves, leaf fresh weight and leaf dry weight. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance (Anova) according to the design used. Data analysis using SAS software version 9.1. The results showed that there was an interaction between the treatment of biochar doses and spacing to plant height growth of king grass, but for other variables there was no interaction. It was concluded that the level of biochar in increasing the growth of king grass varies, for plant height and number of tillers without using biochar can still grow optimally while for increasing the number of leaves at the level of use of 250 g / planting hole. Level 500 g / planting hole is effective in increasing the dry weight and fresh weight of king grass leaves. The best spacing on growth and production of king grass varies for plant height and the number of tillers the best spacing is 20 cm while for the most number of leaves increasing at a spacing of 40 cm. Plant spacing of 60 cm is effective in increasing the dry weight and fresh weight of king grass leaves as well as the interaction between biochar levels and plant spacing on plant height while on other variables there is no interaction.

Abstract

This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Timor, Sasi, North Central Timor Regency. The research will last for 1 production period (45 HST), from the end of March to the beginning of June 2019. The purpose of this study is to analyze the value of growth and production of Pennisetum purpureum treated with frequency of time watering liquid tofu waste. This research is an experimental study using a randomized design Complete (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications so that there are 16 units of the experimental unit. The treatments tested consisted of: R0 = Without watering tofu waste, R1 = Frequency of watering once every 2 days, R2 = Frequency of watering once every 4 days, R3 = Frequency of watering once every 6 days. The variables observed in this study were plant height, stem diameter, leaf fresh weight and leaf dry weight. The results showed that giving treatment of the frequency of time of watering the liquid tofu waste, had a significant effect on the fresh weight of leaves produced but did not differ on plant height of stem diameter and dry weight produced. It could be concluded that liquid tofu waste with good watering time frequency was found in the treatment R1 which is 2 days, liquid tofu waste has the ability to improve soil texture and can stimulate the growth of Pennisetum purpureum in this case the growth of plant height, stem diameter, leaf fresh weight, and leaf dry weight.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the chemical quality of wafers using gamal flour (Gliricidia sepium) and lamtoro flour (Leucaena leucocephala) with different levels as small ruminant feed. This research was carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Timor in May to June 2019. Making wafers was carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture, while the analysis of feed quality was carried out at the Feed Chemistry Laboratory of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Undana Kupang. The variables measured in this study were crude protein content, crude fat content, crude fiber content, dry matter, organic matter and BETN. The materials used in this study were gamal flour, lamtoro flour, rice bran, corn flour, mineral mix, starch flour, water. The method used is a Completely Randomized Design with the following treatment: R1 = Gamal Flour 20% + Lamtoro Flour 60% + Rice Bran + Corn Corn 8% + Mineral mix 2%, R2 = Gamal Flour 40% + Lamtoro Flour 40% + Bran Rice 10% + Corn Flour 8% + Mineral mix 2%, R3 = Gamal Flour 60% + Lamtoro Flour 20% + Rice bran 10% + Corn Flour 8% + Mineral mix 2, R4 = 80% Gamal Flour + Lamtoro Flour 0% + Rice Bran 10% + Corn Flour 8% + Mineral mix 2%. The results showed that there was a significant effect (P <0.01) on the chemical quality (dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber and BETN) wafers for small ruminants made with comparison of different gamal flour and lamtoro flour . It was concluded that the comparison of the levels of gamal flour and lamtoro flour in making wafers for small ruminant animals had different impacts on the quality of the chemical produced, but in general a ratio of 40% gamal flour and 40% lamtoro flour (R2) had the highest effect on the parameters of Quality Parameters Dry Ingredients, Organic Ingredients, Crude Protein and Crude Fiber.
