Abstract

Rumah baca Tiara Veritas merupakan rumah baca yang yang menyediakan buku-buku cerita bagi masyakarat sekitar, khususnya anak- anak usia sekolah. Rumah baca ini memiliki kepedulian dalam mengembangkan minat baca anak-anak usia sekolah. Hampir setiap hari ada sekitar 20-30 anak-anak usia sekolah datang untuk membaca buku baik secara mandiri maupun dipandu oleh pengajar. Rumah baca Tiara Veritas bersinergi dengan kampus Universitas Pelita Harapan untuk mengembangkan rumah baca tersebut yang berlokasi di daerah Kecamatan Cikande, Kabupaten Serang sekitar 40 KM dari kampus UPH Karawaci. Rumah baca yang ideal seharusnya memiliki tempat yang nyaman untuk anak-anak membaca dan beranekaragam buku cerita. Namun kenyataan yang dihadapi Rumah baca Tiara Veritas adalah kurangnya buku-buku bacaan anak-anak yang beranekaragam, dan tempat rumah baca yang kurang memadai untuk anak-anak usia belajar melakukan kegiatan membaca. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang merupakan bagian dari program MBKM, maka pengembangan rumah baca Tiara Veritas dapat berjalan. Adapun hasil yang diperoleh adalah perbaikan rumah baca yang memadai untuk anak-anak usia belajar melakukan kegiatan membaca dan pemberian buku-buku cerita yang beraneka ragam. Keberlanjutan dari kegiatan inipun akan diadakan pengembangan kegiatan dari rumah baca yang semakin mendatangkan dampak yang lebih besar bagi masyarakat sekitar.Kata kunci: pengembangan minat baca, rumah baca, tiara veritas, MBKM.

Abstract

Magic as one significant theme in the Acts of the Apostles is not yet significantly exposed. In the Greco-Roman era, magic had become a part of people’s lives from the lowest to the highest status, such as the Roman Emperor. The confrontation between magic which is likely amazing, with the joyful gospel is essential to be examined. The gospel's victory over magic is prominent for Christians and Church ministry because the power of the gospel that overcomes magic is the anchor of Christianity. This article will employ the literature research method within the qualitative research category. The most extended episode of the magical passage, Acts 8: 4-25, will be examined to figure out the distinctive feature between magic and the gospel and how the gospel overcome magic and the gospel is then widely spread throughout the region of Samaria and even to the end of the world. The literal translation and the text variant will be the first part of the examination. The following study is to demonstrate the structure. The next part is the exegesis to figure out the meaning of the text within the relevant context, including the distinction between magic and Christianity. The last part is the Implications within the contemporary era for Christians and Church ministry and conclusion.

Abstract

Magic is an important topic in the New Testament but compared to other topics of discussion in New Testament Studies, the significance of the theme of magic has been unjustly undermined as indicated by David E. Aune. From the all eight occurrences of magic in the New Testament, four are found in the Acts of the Apostles. Therefore, the Acts of the Apostles is the most significant source to understand magic in the New Testament. The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the significant of magic in the Greco-Roman era as the historical context to understand magic in the Acts of the Apostles. Since Christianity flourished in the Greco-Roman era, the understanding of magic in the Greco-Roman era is significant to understand its confrontation with Christianity in the Acts of the Apostles. This article will analyze mainly the first source of magic in the Greek magical papyri, the definition of magic, its principles, and its spell related to the Acts of the Apostles, and the relation between magic and religion in Greco-Roman Era. The judgment on magic will then be provided in the end of this article as the foundation to further study of the Acts of the Apostles.

Abstract

The development of activities carried out at the Tiara Veritas Cikandem reading house is a continuation of the development of the reading house which has undergone renovations both in terms of buildings and available reading books. The development of this activity aims to develop interest in reading for children of learning age; cultivate reading literacy in the environment around the Tiara Veritas Cikande reading house; and obtain parental support in the reading development of children of learning age. The methods used include: guided and independent reading training for children of learning age, training for parents on how to read the correct story to children; and training for local residents who are still illiterate. The objects in the development of Tiara Veritas Cikande reading house activities are children of learning age (PAUD and SD) around 30-40 children, parents of children of learning age, and local residents. The place of implementation is the Tiara Veritas Cikande reading house. The results obtained are the enthusiasm of children of learning age who always come to read at the Tiara Veritas Cikande reading house and the support of parents who strongly support the existence of the Tiara Veritas Cikande reading house.

Abstract

One of the social services carried out by Tiara Veritas Cikande reading house is to provide opportunities for children located in the Cikande sub-district, Serang district about 40 KM from campus of Universitas Pelita Harapan, Karawaci Tangerang, to read early childhood story books. There are about 20-30 children who come to play in this reading house every day just to see pictures from story books. The main problem experienced by reading houses is the lack of teaching staff and special staff for reading houses so that children do activities independently and without structured direction. Then, the owner of the foundation tried to find interesting reading methods for early childhood through collaboration with students and lecturers from the campus of Universitas Pelita Harapan. Finally, through community service activities which are part of the MBKM program, an interesting reading method is applied to early childhood. Early childhood teachers are guided by teachers in listening to stories. The results obtained are more interesting reading activities that can run through the storytelling method. The continuation of this activity is in the form of reading activities through the storytelling method on a regular basis to increase the number of visitors and provide meaning for children when reading while providing a positive impact for some of the surrounding community who are still illiterate.

Abstract

Disaster Preparedness School (SSB) is an effort to build school preparedness against disasters in order to raise awareness of all elements in the education sector both individually and collectively in schools and the school environment before, during, and after a disaster occurs. The training was conducted at Widuri PAUD located in Kubang Welut Village, Ciwandan Sub-District, Cilegon City. Method of training is simulations. Simulations in disaster management can measure and improve one's readiness in facing of disasters. In this training needed the support of principals, teachers, staff, and all parties in the school and active participation of all students. There are two stages in this exercise and simulations. First, to learn about the threat of danger, to find out whether schools are safe from the threat of earthquake disasters. According to the circumstances and location of each school, students must learn, pay attention to the situation and location of the school guide by the teacher. Second, disaster simulation training, to increase knowledge about ways to do early warning and rescue when a disaster occurs. Simulation exercises is to shape attitudes, togetherness, cohesiveness, and mutual help. In this exercise the teacher, the staff, parents are guided to increase the awareness and develop skills of students in rescuing in the moment of disaster. In order for the simulation to succeed well, this exercise needs to be planned, prepared, carried out, and evaluated repeatedly.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Sekolah Siaga Bencana (SSB) merupakan upaya membangun kesiapsiagaan sekolah terhadap bencana dalam rangka menggugah kesadaran seluruh unsur-unsur dalam bidang pendidikan baik individu maupun kolektif di sekolah dan lingkungan sekolah baik itu sebelum, saat, maupun setelah bencana terjadi. Kegiatan pelatihan siaga bencana pada anak-anak ini dilakukan di PAUD Widuri yang berlokasi di Kelurahan Kubang Welut, Kecamatan Ciwandan, Kota Cilegon. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan adalah dengan simulasi. Simulasi di dalam manajemen bencana dapat mengukur dan meningkatkan kesiapan seseorang dalam menghadapi bencana. Dalam pelatihan ini diperlukan dukungan kepala sekolah, guru, staf, dan semua pihak di lingkungan sekolah dan partisipasi aktif siswa. Ada dua tahap dalam latihan dan simulasi ini. Pertama, menyampaikan materi kepada para guru tentang ancaman bahaya, untuk mengetahui apakah sekolah aman dari ancaman bahaya bencana gempa bumi. Sesuai keadaan dan lokasi sekolah, siswa/i agar dapat belajar, memperhatikan keadaan dan lokasi sekolah dengan bimbingan para guru. Kedua, latihan simulasi menghadapi bencana: untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang cara-cara melakukan peringatan dini dan penyelamatan ketika terjadi bencana. Latihan simulasi bertujuan untuk membentuk sikap, kebersamaan, kekompakan dan saling tolong menolong. Dalam latihan ini dibimbing oleh guru, staf, dan orang tua untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan siswa dalam melakukan penyelamatan bila terjadi bencana. Agar latihan simulai dapat berhasil dengan baik, maka latihan perlu direncanakan, dipersiapkan, dilaksanakan, dan dievaluasi secara berulang-ulang.

Abstract

In order to foster the capability of literacy in the community, Kindergarten Al-Amin, Ciputat has received books from Rebung Cendani Foundation These books have not been used maximally to increase students' literacy. Therefore, this Community Service will provide training and assistance to parents of the students on how to read story books to their children at home. Assistance was provided by Al-Amin teachers with the direction of community services facilitators for three months. Parents and teachers will practice the reading in accordance with the steps that have been explained. The mentoring training activities went smoothly. Through this mentoring training parents become anthusiastic in implementing reading activities at home with their children, reading activities also help parents keep children away from gadgets, and parents gain knowledge about reading fun stories. Suggestions from this mentoring training activity can foster a reading habit among Kindergarten Al-Amin. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Dalam rangka program menumbuhkan minat baca di masyarakat, TK Al-Amin, Ciputat mendapatkan bantuan buku-buku dari Yayasan Rebung Cendani. Buku-buku tersebut belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal untuk meningkatkan literasi para murid. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan PkM ini memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan kepada orang tua murid mengenai bagaimana membaca buku cerita kepada anak-anaknya di rumah. Pendampingan diberikan oleh guru-guru TK Al-Amin dengan arahan fasilitator PkM selama tiga bulan. Dalam proses pendampingan orang tua dan guru melakukan latihan membaca sesuai dengan langkah-langkah yang sudah dijelaskan. Kegiatan pelatihan pendampingan berjalan dengan baik. Melalui pelatihan pendampingan ini orang tua menjadi antusias didalam menerapkan kegiatan membaca di rumah dengan anak masing-masing, kegiatan membaca juga membantu orang tua menjauhkan anak dari gadget, dan orang tua memperoleh pengetahuan mengenai membaca cerita yang menyenangkan. Saran dari kegiatan pelatihan pendampingan ini dapat menumbuhkan kebiasaan membaca dikalangan TK Al-Amin.

Abstract

Magic is a significant theme in The Acts of the Apostle but is undermined by scholars. The significance of this theme is obvious in the so-called five episodes or passage of magic. Thus, how does Christian understand of magic particularly in the Acts of the Apostles is also prominent. This article aimed to re-examine all five episodes of magic in The Acts of the Apostles that Christian may have a more comprehensive understanding of magic and able to conquer the reality of magic which is still very relevant in our contemporary ministry in Indonesia. The method of this article was literature study. By the study it was concluded that the magic in Acts is best understood to further its apologetical purpose, because the passages clearly demonstrate evil as the reality behind magic, thus the confrontation between God’s power and magic is inevitable for it is between God and evil.

Abstract

Just as magic was undermined in the Acts of the Apostles, its spread throughout the whole region of the Greco-Roman Region was also undermined. Although the magic episode occurred six times in the Acts of the Apostles, the demonstration of the geographical aspect of magic in the Acts of the Apostles was undermined. The prominent question regarding the presence of magic in the Greco-Roman reigns is how serious was magic during the Greco-Roman Era for Christianity so that the gospel could be proclaimed to the end of the world? This article will demonstrate the seriousness of magic to impede the spread of the gospel is obvious when analyzing the geographical spread of magic. The aim of this article is to demonstrate the magical context of each Roman city where magic was there. Moreover, this article also demonstrates the significance of the geographical aspect of magic for the spread of the Gospel. This geographical aspect will be argued within the context of the apologetic purpose of the Acts of the Apostles and the spread of the gospel to the end of the world to fulfill Jesus’ command to his disciples. This research will employ a literature method. The analysis will analyze the city of Samaria, the island of Cyprus, the strategic city of Ephesus, Philippi, and Malta. Application regarding the proclamation of the gospel for our contemporary world will be provided in the section of discussion and result before the conclusion.

Abstract

Supremacy of Christ in Col. 1:15-20 is essential to Christian faith. Many attempts have been made to examine this passage and mostly from the theological point of view. The aim of this article is to reexamine this passage and propose an analysis from the perspective of Christian education (with the implications) by firstly exegeting the passage in Colossian’s context. The exegesis begins with providing the translation form the Greek text, proposing the structure followed by demonstrating the critical issue in each section of the structure, and finally summarizing the principles. The next step is to demonstrate the analysis from the perspective of Christian education on every section in the structure, followed by the significance of this passage in Christian education.
