Abstract

Phenol compound in Piper betle leaves has several pharmacology activities such as antibacteria, antifungi and antioxidant. The pharmacology activities of a herbal drug are influenced by the phytochemistry content, so in order to do a quality determination that provides phytochemistry profile and consistent pharmacology activities, a standardization is required. Fingerprint is the main standard to perform quality control for herbal drug. TLC-spectrophotodensitometry was used as the method in order to provide fingerprint profile of phenol compound. In this experiment, Piper betle leaves samples were extracted by reflux method using ethanol 96% as the solvent. Identification of phenol compound was done using TLC-spectrophotodensitometry with Silica gel 60 F254 as the stationary phase, toluena: ethyl acetate (93:7 v/v) as the mobile phase, FeCl3 and Folin-Ciocalteau as the reagent. The fingerprint profile of phenol compund was shown in Rf value 0,19; 0,42; and 0,62. Positive results of phenol compound are black spot on FeCl3 colour test and dark blue spot  on Folin-Ciocalteau colour test. Maximum wavelength of phenol compound was 283 nm.

Abstract

A study of pharmaceutical anamneses relevance by pharmacist compared to doctors’ diagnose in 5 pharmacies in Gianyar had been done. The study was descriptive retrospective using 400 prescriptions that come into pharmacies during three months periods, from April to June 2009. The aims of this study was to figure out the relevance between pharmaceutical anamneses that had been done by the pharmacist compared to doctors’ diagnose based on clinical symptoms of disease and medical terminology, and also to know the length of time which was needed to do pharmaceutical anamneses on single prescription. From 400 prescriptions that were used in this study, 80.75% showed the relevance between pharmaceutical anamneses compared to doctors’ diagnose and 19.25% showed the irrelevance according to clinical symptom of disesases. Meanwhile, according to medical terminology that had been used, the relevance level between the pharmaceutical anamneses by pharmacist compared to doctors’ diagnose are22% and 78% showed the irrelevance. The average time used by pharmacist to do pharmaceutical anamnese of single prescription was 6.49 seconds.

Abstract

A Research of the utilization of spectrum shift in confirmation test for barbiturate using TLC-Spectrophotodensitometry has been done. Analyte was analyzed using two mobile phases, that are TD (chloroform: acetone = 80 : 20) and TE (ethyl acetate: methanol: ammonia = 85 : 15 : 5) with Al-TLC Silica 60 GF254 plate as the stationary phase. Afterwards, plate was sprayed with HCl or KOH. The analyzed parameters were hRfc, normal UV-spectrum pattern and its shift. The correlation of spectrum or the shift of UV-spectrum for barbiturate compounds was determined with Wincats program. The analysis of barbiturates which based on hRfc in error window (±7) for TD system and in error window (±11) for TE, still produced hit factor 8-25 compounds. The confirmation test for barbiturates based on hRfc and r ? 0,95, produced hit factor 1-2 compounds. Barbiturate compounds showed spectrum shift in alkali solution, while in acid solution did not happen. However, all four analytes contained identical spectrum shift, therefore the data of these spectrum shift can not be utilized for confirmation test of barbiturate compounds.

Abstract

The level of drug knowledge and drug abuse among senior high school students in Denpasar City has been assessed between January to Mei 2010. A simple random sampling method was used to select the students. Under 90% confidence level was obtained 273 students, who involved in this study. The students were asked to answer the questionnaire to find out their knowledge of drug abuse effects. They also followed a urine screen test using rapid EMIT-test for the amphetamine, methamphetamine, opiate, cocaine, cannabis, and benzodiazepine. More than 95% of students had a not qualified level knowledge of drug abuse effects. We found out a positive correlation between the interest of the students to access drug information online or mass media to their knowledge. Based on screen test result of urine sample has shown that the abuse level on senior high school’s students in Denpasar City was estimated 0.73% benzodiazepine class abuse.
