Abstract

Abstrak:PT. Sinar Sosro Banyuasin-Sumatera Selatan adalah salah satu industri pembuatan minuman siap saji yang banyak menggunakan energy panas dalam proses produksinya. Salah satu peralatan pada pabrik tersebut yang menggunakan energi panas adalah ketel uap. Alat ini harus selalu siap dalam menjalankan fungsinya sebagai penghasil uap yang seterusnya digunakan untuk keperluan produksi. Efisiensi ketel uap ini selalu berubah-ubah sesuai dengan beban operasinya, efisiensi yang berubah-ubah terjadi karena banyaknya panas yang hilang dari hasil pembakaran, maka dari itu untuk dapat mengurangi terjadinya energi panas yang tidak efisien perlu dilakukan peningkatan performa dari suatu ketel uap dengan cara memantau setiap unit ketel uap agar dapat beroperasi dengan baik dan menurunkan kerugian kalor nya. Maka perlu dilakukan pengevaluasian prestasi kerja terhadap efisiensi pada ketel uap. Perhitungan efisiensi dilakukan dengan menvariasikan kapasitas uap yang dihasilkan ketel uap dimulai dari 2,20 ton/jam, 2,40 ton/jam, 2,60 ton/jam, dan 3,10 ton/jam dengan menghitung kerugian-kerugian kalor nya. Dimana kapasitas uap yang dihasilkan ketel uap tersebut berbanding lurus dengan bahan bakar yang dikonsumsi ketel uap, semakin tinggi kapasitas uap yang dihasilkan ketel uap maka konsumsi bahan bakar semakin meningkat. Kesimpulan yang didapat bahwa efisiensi tertinggi adalah sebesar 87,03%. pada kapasitas uap 2,20 ton/jam Kata kunci: Kapasitas Uap, Kerugian Kalor, EfisiensiAbstract:PT. Sinar Sosro Banyuasin-South Sumatra is one of industry manufacture of beverages that use a lot of heat energy in the production process. One of the equipment at the plant which uses thermal energy is the boiler. This tool must always be ready to perform its function as a producer of steam so used for production purposes. The efficiency of the boiler is constantly changing in accordance with its operating expenses, the efficiency of the change occurred because of the heat lost from the combustion, and therefore to be able to reduce the occurrence of inefficient heat energy necessary to improve the performance of a boiler in a way monitor each unit of the boiler in order to operate properly and lowering its heat loss. It is necessary to work towards the achievement of evaluating the efficiency of the boiler. Efficiency calculations performed with the capacity to vary the generated steam boiler starts from 2.20 tons / hour, 2.40 tons / hour, 2.60 tons / hour, and 3.10 tons / hour to calculate its heat losses. Where the capacity of the boiler steam generated is directly proportional to fuel consumed boiler, the higher the capacity of the steam produced steam boiler fuel consumption is increasing. Abstract

Energi panas dari briket yang merupakan salah satu bentuk energi alternatif yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk keperluan industri besar dan industri rumah tangga salah satunya digunakan untuk mengeringkan hasil perikanan dan hasil pertanian. Alat pengering yang menggunakan briket sebagai bahan bakar pada proses pengeringan meningkatkan kualitas produk yang dikeringkan karena tidak tergantung pada cuaca. Prosesnya sangat sederhana yaitu dengan meletakkan produk di alat pengering dan briket batubara berfungsi sebagai sumber panas untuk mengeringkan produk. Penelitian menghasilkan laju pengeringan rata – rata yaitu sebesar 1,9235 gram/menit dan mendapatkan pengurangan kadar air terbesar yaitu mencapai 70% serta  efisiensi pengeringan rata – rata yaitu 1,3255%.

Abstract

Cassava skin waste is waste originating from cassava plants from tapioca flour factories or cassava processed product factories. Indonesia is one of the biggest countries that produces cassava. The number of cassava processing industries in Indonesia is large so that a positive correlation can be drawn that the high amount of cassava processed will produce more cassava skin waste. Based on the results of tests conducted, the higher the composition of the Each cassava can produce 10-15% of cassava skin waste. Cassava skin waste is directly removed, can cause buildup that results in environmental damage. Cassava skin waste is obtained from local farmers, where on average each cassava produces 10-15% of waste. In general, this waste is not used and just thrown away. This research was conducted with the main ingredients of cassava peel waste and adhesive made from used paper. The composition of the mixture of cassava peel and used paper varies, where the percentage by weight of the adhesive starts from 7.0% to 10% with an increase in the composition every 0.5%. Then the biobriquette carbonization process was carried out at a temperature of 400 ° C. The biobriquette characterization was carried out based on ASTM standards to analyze water and ash, volatile matter and heating value. The results of the analysis on the composition of the lowest cassava bark had the highest heating value of 5888 cal / gr with the lowest water, ash and volatile matter content.

Abstract

This study presents a case study investigation on failure analysis of drill pipe during the drilling operation and to establish a general understanding of fatigue failure with experiments and several tests. Drill pipe load comprises tensile, compression, bending, hydrostatic pressure and vibration, which causes damage due to fatigue failure to the drill pipe. The method involves subjecting a 2 in length and nominal diameter 3.25 in connection NC50 19.5 ppf drill pipe to predetermined caused failure by experimental tests and analysis. Mechanical examination such as tensile test and hardness test, and metallurgical examination such as spectrometry, fractography, SEM and EDX testing are conducted. The result shows that the cause of failure on the thread drill pipe was due to fatigue failure. It showed by the presence of microcracks, which accumulated from the load in the drill pipe. In addition, propagation of the crack at critical depth resulting in failure during drilling operations.

Abstract

Cassava peel waste in large quantities can harm the environment. Cassava peel waste can be used as a renewable energy feedstock since it is environmentally friendly biomass converted into bio briquettes for use as an alternative fuel. The advantage of cassava peel can positively impact the environment while also adding value to the cassava peel. Cassava bio briquettes produced with water hyacinth and banana leaf stem were compared in this study. Temperatures of 300°C, 350°C, 400°C, 450°C, and 500°C are used to discover the best conditions for briquettes, with a carbonization time of 45 minutes. Bio briquettes can be made from water hyacinth and banana leaf stalks, according to the analysis. The best results were achieved at 400°C carbonization temperature, with a calorific value of 5461 Cal/g for water hyacinth adhesives and 5265 Cal/g for banana leaf stalk adhesives.

Abstract

Efforts to preserve the environment and natural resources, currently the machining process is directed to apply environmentally friendly machining. One of them is by using cutting fluid from vegetable oil. Vegetable oil as a substitute for mineral oil which is known to be non-renewable, non-biodegradable, carcinogenic, has an impact on health and the environment. This service activity aims to increase knowledge to machine tools for small industrial partners in applying environmentally friendly cutting fluids. The partner workshop is a Tris welding and lathe workshop located in the Kelurahan Kebun Bunga, Palembang. The implementation is carried out in one day with a limited number consisting of partner leaders and employees, other invited participants, and students. Based on the activities carried out, participants' understanding of the material presented increased by 84.4% and specifically material about environmentally friendly cutting fluids achieved the success of 88.9%. Partner workshops are very supportive of the activities carried out and want sustainable activities so that they have an effect on increasing their business.

Abstract

The use of glasswool or Superbtek insulation material in a fish dryer is one way to reduce the heat coming out of the fish dryer, so that the heat temperature utilized for the fish drying process will be maximized. These two insulation materials will be compared which one is better able to reduce heat. This fish dryer will be made with certain dimensions as needed, this tool design measures: 100 cm long, 50 cm wide, and 50 cm high for the outer wall, and 90 cm long, 40 cm wide, 40 cm high for the inner side wall. The height of the tool frame legs is 70 cm. Glasswool and Superbtex materials are affixed to the outside wall. The two insulation materials will be analyzed how much they affect the heat on the wall of the dryer, aiming to get the best insulation material between the two for the drying rate. With the experimental method, it was found that using Superbtex insulation material; the temperature inside the dryer was 94.200C and the temperature of the outer wall was 45.680C, the average drying rate was 4.306 gr/min, with the use of Glassswool insulation, the temperature of the inside wall of the dryer was 83.50C and the temperature of the outside wall of the dryer was 47.580C, the average drying rate was 3.489 gr/min. So superbtex insulation material is better to use than glasswool insulation material.

Abstract

Penerapan modul TEC terus dikembangkan karena modul ini memiliki keunggulan tersendiri. Keunggulan modul TEC ini antara lain hemat energi dan ramah lingkungan. Keunggulan lain dari modul TEC adalah tahan lama, kompak, ringan, dan mudah pengoperasiannya. Penelitian ini memanfaatkan modul TEC untuk mendinginkan sebuah kotak pendingin. Ukuran kotak pendingin yang digunakan adalah 38 cm x 52 cm x 35 cm. Fluida pendingin yang digunakan adalah udara dan air. Pengambilan data pengujian dilakukan dengan memakai sebuah mikrokontroler Arduino Mega 2560. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  temperatur rata-rata kotak pendingin dengan media pendingin udara, air, dan udara-air adalah 23,36 , 24,50 , dan 22,76 .
