Abstract

The production of corn and rice produced by farmers in East Java has the potential to cause agricultural waste, therefore corn cobs are waste that requires special processing in order to be used optimally. Agricultural waste corn cobs and rice straw can be converted into gas fuel (Syngas). The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of gasification seen from the temperature distribution and composition of combustible gases such as CO, H2 and CH4. The downdraft gasifier type is used and applies the AR and E.R ratio to the temperature. For the pyrolysis and oxidation regions, the intake air varies (ARpir-oxi) 80%; 70%; and 0% at 14.5 air intake; 19.3; and 24.1 Nm3/hour from E.R 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5. Air intake in the adjust area using a valve. Temperature measurement using the type K thermocouple. The results show that the maximum temperature using ARpir-oks = 80%, the drying zone temperature is 187°C, the pyrolysis zone is 488°C, the oxidation zone is 895°C and the reduction zone is 585°C. Meanwhile, the highest production of CO gas is 20.50% and H2 gas is 14.55% using an ER of 0.4. Meanwhile, CH4 decreased for all ER values using ARpir-oks = 80%.

Abstract

Product quality of a production process can not be separated from several other factors, including the planning and machining processes, which take place during the machining process there is interaction between the chisel work with the workpiece, the workpiece is cut off and the chisel work experience friction. As a result of this friction chisel wear out. Tool wear will be enlarged to a certain extent so that the cutting tool can not be used anymore. The length of time to reach the wear limit is defined as the tool life. Data on tool life is greatly needed in the planning process of machining a product. This study aims to determine the price constants (CT) and exponent (n) Taylor tool life equation in Turning Process with carbide Sculpture and Objects Work St 42, St 60 and Iron Castings and to determine the relationship between the input variables and the response variable from the observed process .The method used to determine the constants and exponents Equation Age Sculpture Taylor is a statistical method, while the statistical method is selected Linear regression analysis method to the calculation method of least squares or Least Squares Method. The study was conducted by observing the cutting conditions, where the cutting speed is varied the cutting speed ; v (m / min) selected three levels of cutting speed (v) is v1 = 37.68 m / min, v2 = 36.11 m / min, v3 = 34.54 m / min. Motion feeding also varied; f (mm / output) while eating the selected motion refers to the ability of the chisel is used and specification capabilities of the machine, the greater the speed selected eat, f1 = 0.25 mm / r and; f2 = 0.30 mm / r. Depth of Cut ; A (mm) made constant. Depth of cut selected; a = 1 mm.Getting research results, for the material St. 42 with f = 0.25 mm / put in can be CT = 65.92, n = 0.1737 are for f = 0.3 mm / put in can be CT = 72.4, n = 0.217. For Material St.60 with f = 0.25 mm / put in can CT = 57.5 n = 0.1482 are for f = 0.3 mm / put in can be CT = 47.68 n = 0.107. For material Iron Castings with f = 0.25 mm can be CT = 45.6 n = 0.107 are for f = 0.3 mm can be CT = 44.175 n = 0,103. The increase in cutting speed (v) is proportional to the occurrence of edge wear (VB). And at the same pace of growth will increase the wear edge is proportional to the time of cutting. The addition of the cutting speed and depth of cut motion meal will still result in the increase of the chisel edge wear so that tool life will decrease. Abstract

Biogas is a compound formed from the decomposition of organic substances in anaerobic condition, the main constituent of biogas is methane and carbon dioxide, biogas can be used as fuel or otto cycle engine with diesel. In this study, the use of biogas from the landfill Cahaya Kencana then to gasoline motor generator sets using this type with a capacity 1kVA four steps that have been previously modified in order to be able to use biogas, but no purification process before being used as fuel. This study aims to determine the purification process biogas to be used as fuel biogas, conversion techniques on gasoline motor generator set in order to use biogas, gain settings on the carburetor and faucet pipes that optimum flow generator sets can be well lit, and the last to know Performance generator sets that have been modified to use biogas.The study was conducted by first making biogas purification devices and modifications to the intake manifold insulator and then test generator sets generator sets that have been modified, test levels and the CO2 content without purification, and the final Performance test generator with power loading.Purification levels of carbon dioxide in the biogas use in the activation CaCO3, then modifications made to the generator set that perforate the insulator and then embed napple ¼ inch and spliced using hoses and given tap ¼ inch, biogas purification flowed through the device then accommodated using plastic bags before being drained towards the generator set. The results of research that the levels of carbon dioxide in the biogas without purification ie 21614 ppm, and biogas through a purification process that is 9103 ppm. While opening the tap biogas for ½ the power load of zero to a light load (350W), while the full biogas faucet openings at medium load (650W) to full load (~ 80% of the capacity of the generator). Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the influence of composition of mass fraction between filler and matrix to mechanical strength of composite material utilizing fibers fiber (arenga pinnata) as filler with polyester resin matrix, composition of fiber fraction mass and polyester resin is 30%:70%, 40%: 60% and 50%: 50% with fiber angle orientation: 0; 0; 0; 0, using the Hand Lay Up making composite methode. Impact test is done with ASTM D5942-96 standard and Tensile Testing is done with ASTM D638-03 standard. Impact test results show that all composition of mass fraction have value Energy impact above Energy impact Cover Body Motorcycle Brand X used as comparative material, 50%: 50% mass fraction composition yield the highest impact energy value equal to 198,75 Joule / cm2. Tensile Test showed the composition of mass fraction 50%: 50% yield value of tensile strength equal to 27,09 MPa is the value of tensile strength most closely to value of tensile strength of comparative material of 30,24 MPa, Tensile Test also shows all composition of mass fraction have the percentage of length increase above the percentage of comparative material, the composition of 50%: 50% mass fraction yields the highest percentage of 4.02%. This research concludes that fiber composite material (arenga pinnata) with 50%: 50% mass fraction composition is feasible to be used as an alternative material Cover Body Motorcycles.

Abstract

Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi telah mendorong manusia untuk menciptakan teknologi yang semakin maju. Diantara teknologi tersebut adalah pengembangan mesin kendaraan dengan sistem bahan bakar injeksi (EFI), mesin dengan sistem ini mensyaratkan penggunaan bahan bakar tanpa timbal (pertamax plus), namun kenyataannya bahan bakar dengan jenis pertamax plus sangat sulit untuk ditemukan khususnya untuk daerah perkampungan, sehingga kebanyakan masyarakat masih menggunakan bahan bakar bensin (premium). Penggunaan bahan bakar premium ini menghasilkan gas buang yang berbahaya yaitu karbon monoksida (CO) dan hidro karbon (HC) yang dihasilkan dari proses pembakaran.Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut maka dilakukan penelitian terhadap sepeda motor sistem EFI empat langkah 150 cc dengan menggunakan bahan bakar premium pada putaran 2000, 2500 dan 3000 rpm. Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui emisi gas buang dan temperatur oli pada sepeda motor sistem EFI.Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan premium pada sepeda motor sistem EFI menghasilkan CO tertinggi dengan nilai 3,04%, HC tertinggi dengan nilai 63 ppm dan temperatur oli mesin tertinggi pada 86 0C. Dengan demikian penggunaan premium pada sepeda motor sistem EFI dinyatakan aman untuk digunakan.

Abstract

The study focused on analyzing the failure of the sun gear section of the swing drive excavator, where there has been a failure in operation. The gears are predominantly damaged in certain areas while other areas appear to have minimal failure. To answer the cause of failure of the gear, 3 stages of testing are carried out, namely; macro observation, chemical composition test and hardness test and loading simulation. The results of this test are that failure occurs due to case crushing caused by residual stresses under the surface of the gears, the detached surface and pinnion conditions exposed to the soft parts become more vulnerable so that scoring occurs causing macrowelding.

Abstract

Student dormitory is one of the facilities provided as a means of support for the students in their studies in Universities. Because many students who come from outside the region where the study was held. Dormitory students have an important role in supporting the successful development in the field of education as well as business opportunities to boost the economy of the people who live around educational institutions. However on the other side where the hostel will generate waste, among others, feces and urine, organic and inorganic garbage and domestic waste which if not managed properly could potentially cause health problems, and aesthetics. The problems that have been faced by managers and occupants of a student dormitory in the Kelurahan Sungai Besar, Kecamatan Banjarbaru Selatan, Banjarbaru City is the lack of knowledge of how the processing waste human manure, organic waste and domestic waste water so it does not pollute the surrounding environment and at the same time converting the processed organic waste into a resource new energy, namely biogas and compost.Digester technology applications will generate a set of tools Human waste processing manure, organic waste and domestic waste. This technology is the processing of organic material anaerobic digester technology in the form of organic waste that the waste that comes out of the digester safely discharged into the environment. Aside from being a waste treatment plant, the solution can also produce biogas to biogas formed later expected to be utilized as a fuel substitute for LPG and fuel Generator Set (Genset) as a substitute fuel (gasoline) in addition produce a byproduct of compost were also no less economic value. Inside the digester hydrolysis and fermentation process occurs, phase Acetogenesis and methanogenesis phase of organic waste into biogas and its byproducts are composted. The process takes 20-30 days. Wastewater digester output of the reactor is no longer harmful to humans, the environment and other living organisms that are not harmful to the environment if disposed of.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the working risk of preventive maintenance Single Point Mooring and to determine the existing risk control on preventive maintenance activities Single Point Mooring in PT. Pertamina RU-V Balikpapan. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with observasional approach. The method used is case study on PT. Pertamina RU-V Balikpapan. Data obtained through observation, interview, and documentation. The validity of data is done by membercheck method, and data analysis using semi quantitative risk assesment with AS/NZS 4360 Standard. The results showed (1) the percentage of working risk of Single Point Mooring preventive maintenance activity using risk assesment method shows 29,41% low risk, 64,70% medium risk, and 5,88% high risk. (2) 6 risk controls methods are elimination, substitution, engineering control, isolation, administration control and personal protective equipment. The dominant control method used is the metod of personal protective equipment and administration control. The prevention of occupational injuries addressed to the environment of machines, work equipment, and especially human factors

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui alasan fraktur yang terjadi pada drive pinion gear unit motor swing Excavator Caterpillar 349 d. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan beberapa tahapan yaitu pengamatan visual dan pengamatan makro, pengujian komposisi struktur logam, dan pemodelan load and latch menggunakan Autodesk Inventor 2014 sebelum mendapatkan hasil akhir. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa ada kurangnya presisi antara pinion drive dan planetary gear karena pin planet yang tidak dapat berfungsi sebagai pemegang planetary gear sehingga rotasi planet rentan terhadap tabrakan sebagai pemicu yang mengakibatkan cacat. Pada proses analisis tegangan menggunakan software autodesk inventor 2014 versi mahasiswa, hasil analisis nilai von misses adalah 9,798 Mpa jauh lebih kecil dari batas elastisitas material 790 MPa sehingga faktor pembebanan tidak menyebabkan sebuah kesalahan. This research is purpose to knowing the reason of the fracture that happen in drive pinion gear of the swing motor unit Excavator Caterpillar 349 d. In this research is doing  by several stage it is visual observation and macro observation, testing of metal structure composition, and load and latch modeling using Autodesk Inventor 2014 before getting the final result. The results obtained from this study are that there is a lack of precision between drive pinion gear and planetary gear due to planetary pins that cannot function as planetary gear holders so that planetary rotations are prone to hilarious triggering collisions resulting in defects. In the process of stress analysis using the student version of autodesk inventor 2014 software, the results of the analysis of the value of von misses is 9.798 Mpa are much smaller than the limit of material elasticity of 790 MPa so that the loading factor does not cause a fault.

Abstract

The role of steel in the industrial world today is very important, especially in terms of making components related to violence such as gears, fly wheel, axe, and so forth.This steel has a high hardness for components that require hardness, to uletan and resistance to friction. get hardness and resistance to steel hence need heat treatment process using Quenching process. The material of this research is S45C carbon steel with specimen number 1 for hardness test before treatment and after treatment with rockwell test, this process is done in Central Laboratory of FMIPA UM, unfortunate. In this process heat treatment is carried out at temperatures of 800⁰C and 900⁰C with water and oil cooling medium, from the results of comparative analysis on S45C steel before and after the treatment obtained increased hardness. This can be seen from the test analysis in which 93 kgf of hardness n is for the untreated specimens. At a temperature of 800⁰C with a water cooling medium at a crude value of 94.6 kgf, and on oil cooling medium at a hardness value of 92.5 kgf. At a temperature of 900⁰C with a water cooling medium at a hardness value of 93.5 kgf and on the oil cooling medium at a value of 93 kgf. Can be concluded from all the cooling media is the highest media water with value of violence 94.6 kgf.Keywords: S45C Steel, Quenching, Cooling
