Abstract

The general objective of the study is to determine relationship between parenting style and teenase delinquency. The study was conducted among senior high school children in Central Jakarta. There were 306 teenagers served as respondents of this study. Results of the study showed that internal reliability of teenage delinquency measurement was 0.9 which indicates that the tools was very good in assessing teenage delinquency. Finding showed is that family characteristics such as fathers educational attainments is negatively correlated to teenage delinquency, while family size is positively correlated to teenage delinquency.Parenting style which is indicated as otoritarian, permissive and democratize also correlated to teenage delinquency. Positive and significant relatinnship (Ą=0.05) was estabilished between permissive parenting style and teenage delinquency. On the other hnad, the democratize parenting style is negative and significantly (Ą=0.01) related to teenage delinquency. Therefore, parents were and encouraged to apply democratize parenting style to help reduce teenage delinquency among senior high school children.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to determine the relationship between family resources and mother's care with PEM status of underfive children. The research was conducted in Kelurahan Cikaret and Desa Rancamaya, Kecamatan Bogor Selatan, Kotamadya Bogor. Samples of the study was 105 PEM children aged 11-59 month whose mothers are primary caregiver. Data was analyzed by using Spearman’s rank test, t-test, and regression analysis. Result showed that there were 54,7 pertcent and 48,1 percent of moderate PEM children in Kelurahan Cikaret and Desa Rancamaya respectively, while severe PEM children were found in Kelurahan Cikaret (1,9%) and Desa Rancamaya (5,8%). Economic resources had significant correlation with mother's care. Non economic resources had significant correlation with mother' care especially sanitation practices, mother's knowledge and educational attainment. Positive correlation was also found between sanitation practices and PEM status (% BB/U). Mother's care were influence by mother's knowledge (a= 0,635), family’s asset (a= 0,362) and mother's educational attainment (a= 0,056). Mother’s care was not significantly related to PEM status of children.Keywords: mother’s care, malnutrition, family resources

Abstract

The study aims to determine relationship between mothering and nutritional status of under five children at Desa Rancamaya Kota Bogor. The samples of the study were children within the age range of 13 – 60 months. Thirty eight children and their mothers served as respondents of this study. The result of this study showed that average family income was Rp 100.708, with family sizes consist of 5 – 6 people. Duration of father’s education was 6,8 years while mother’s education was 6,2 years. It was found that most children suffered from low Protein Energy Malnutrition (78,9%) and severe PEM (10,5%). On the average mothers spent 5,7 hours/day, in-which 2,59 hours were allocated for playing and interacting with their children. The quality of mothering, either feeding practices (50,0%) or caring practices were (65,8%) categorized in moderate level. There was negative correlation between age of parents, age of children, and family size with quantity of mothering, while positive correlation was established between feeding practices with age of mothers. Significant and positive correlation was also established between feeding practices and nutritional status of the children. Therefore the study recommended to revitalize 'posyandu' in order to improve mother’s knowledge about nutrition especially feeding and caring practices and to empower the family as well.Keywords: mothering, nutritional status, children
