Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to improve science learning outcomes of students through Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in students Grades V SDN 46 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2013/2014. This study was conducted in December 2013 by the number of 25 students, 15 male students and 10 female students. This study design is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Parameters are measured, student learning outcomes, student activities, and teacher activities. While the research instrument used was a sheet items and observation of student activity sheets and teachers' activities. The observation of the first cycle was a good teacher showed activity (percentage 71.43%) and in accordance with the plan, for the second meeting of the teacher's activities are categorized either (roughly 78.57%). For the second cycle teachers increased activity observed with very good category (percentage 92.86%) and in accordance with the plan, for the activity of the second meeting of the second cycle teachers also increased with very good category (percentage of 96.42%). While the observation of student activities are already well on the first meeting (percentage 71.43%), the activity of the second meeting of students categorized as good (roughly 85.71%). For the second cycle students increased activity observed with very good category (percentage 89.29%) and student activity also increased with the category very well at the last meeting (percentage 92.86%). Based on the analysis of data from the study, the average elementary student score before applying CTL is 59.2 then increased to 72.64 in the first cycle and increased again to 81.12 in the second cycle. It can be concluded that with the implementation of CTL can improve student learning outcomes IPA in students Grades V SDN 46 Pekanbaru.Key words : Approach Science Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), Science _Student Learning Outcomes
