Abstract

Mental Hygiene is a branch of psychology that talks about the treatment of human mental health. One of the scientists who focuses on this field is Zakiah Daradjat. He succeeded in reformulating his mental hygiene concept so that it has its own characteristics. Not only speaking in theory, but he has also applied his concept in fostering community mental health in his home clinic and also formal educational institutions through the foundation he founded, namely the Islamic Foundation Ruhama. In his thesis, he is interested in researching the problems of adolescents in Indonesia. This is because adolescence is a transitional age from children to adults who need more attention in dealing with life problems. Formal education institutions become one of the mediators to play a big role in dealing with their problems. This research is interesting because the mental hygiene of zakiah daradjat is able to be a solution in dealing with adolescent problems that are applied through his formal education. This is grounded research by making the main research objects of Islamic Junior High School and Islamic Vocational High School Ruhama, South Tangerang. Data collection by interview and studying the curriculum in both schools. After conducting the research, it was found that the application of Zakiah Daradjat's mental hygiene concepts at the two high school institutions was successful and exemplary. This success is driven by three factors. First, there are mental hygiene values of zakiah daradjat which are in line with Pancasila. Second, attractive and innovative application methods. Third, holistic and integrative application techniques in the three education centers.

Abstract

As the ultimate goal of every living soul, happiness has its own place in the hearts of the seekers and in the thoughts of the researchers. Being an elusive term to be discussed for its subjective meaning, happiness utilizes many disciplines of knowledge to be defined and understood fully. The idea of this study was to elaborate on the concept so the researchers might compile it in such a systematic way as to permit anyone to gain knowledge from it and lead them to attain true happiness. For this purpose, there should be prominent figures to obtain from them their ideas on the related concept. They are Martin Seligman and Avicenna; both are, no doubt, exemplary figures and exact credible persons for this study about happiness. This work attempts to analyze and compare their ideas on happiness. Each of them has their own unique concept of happiness since both come from very different backgrounds of study and worldviews. The results show that since Seligman brings his agenda in secular scientific positive psychology, as he stated. While Seligman stops in the temporary world, Avicenna on the other hand, does not. This is because Avicenna based his notion of happiness on a philosophical-religious approach. He emphasized that it is only through the knowledge of true reality i.e. God, one may then achieve absolute and true happiness, although, the conception he conducted was less applicative.

Abstract

Muslims nowadays face at least two unfortunate realities in accordance with medicinal treatment. The first reality is to take any medicines available at pharmacies without any idea of the lawful-status of these medicines; halâl or harâm. Despite of the well-known brands and merits, there are quite serious contra-indications found within those medicines.  The second reality is the Islamic -which are so called by alternative- medicines which, recently popular, yet mis-produced by some individuals to gain more profits. The outcome of this action made the price of these alternative medicines even higher. Thus, it is needed to find a solution  that could overcome these conditions.  That is the vision of reality and truth as a Muslim (Islamic worldview) toward healing as the problem solving. The characteristics of this Islamic worldview in accordance to this matter is the awareness as Muslim about the lawful status of medicines available,  a consciousness as a producers of these medicines to help others based on Islamic spirit as well as to socialize  ath-Thîb an-Nabawiy and finally the ultimate understanding that it is Allah SWT who gives health (asy-syifâ`)since He is ‘Asy-Syâfî’.

Abstract

Indonesia has long made Pancasila an ideal as well as a way of life for the nation and state. But in fact, the phenomenon that has emerged among the community is actually the opposite, it can even be said it moves away from the spirit of Pancasila itself. This problem arises because of a mistake in understanding the concept of civilized, thus causing a loss of adab in the Indonesian people and nation. This research is a library research, using descriptive method. The results of the study found that the concept of adab Naqib al-Attas comes from the Islamic worldview, which means discipline of the spirit, mind, and soul. According to him, the three foundations of this civilized building must receive serious guidance through the ta'dib process. The goal is to produce attitudes and behaviours that reflect justice and wisdom, where someone is able to put things in their place. For this reason, the values of Pancasila, especially the civilized concept as ideals as well as a view of life for the nation and state, which conditions are Islamic values must be understood based on the Islamic worldview, in the context of realizing a just and civilized society.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the nature of the relationship between religion and science applied by UNIDA Gontor, especially the policy in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. This is done, at least for two reasons. First, UNIDA Gontor is the only higher education institution in the country that continues to carry out normal activities in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Second, UNIDA Gontor is an Islamic educational institution based on Islamic boarding schools. As library research, this paper uses a descriptive method. The results can be concluded that there are at least four patterns in building the relationship between religion and science: conflict, independence, dialogue, and integration. UNIDA Gontor uses an Integration model with the Islamization of knowledge in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. This is because UNIDA Gontor applies ihktiar al-diniyyah and al-ilmiyyah at the same time preventing the spread of Covid-19 infection. The two pledges were integrated within the framework of an Islamic worldview, thus, giving rise to three forms of strategic policies, namely; First, form a Covid-19 task force; second, involve elements of the government and IKPM Gontor; and the third, self-isolation. By consistently implementing these efforts, the entire academic community and students in the UNIDA Gontor environment can avoid and function normally even in the midst of the Covid-19 virus infection

Abstract

The term "sect" is familiar to all religious communities. This term is known not only in Islam but also in Christianity, namely Advent (Seventh-day Adventist Church). A church that keeps the Sabbath day holy was pioneered by a woman named Ellen G. White. Its doctrine and teachings are believed to be a vision from God in conflict with his prophecies, because the prophecies taught contradict the doctrine of the Catholic papacy. This research is library research (library research), using several methods including descriptive methods and critical analysis methods. This study found that Ellen G. White's prophecy is a vision from God according to Adventists. But not so with Catholics, they are aggressively looking for evidence and accusing Ellen White of being a false prophet. His claims about visions begin with great experiences in childhood. Conjecture after conjecture emerged from various sects, including the Catholic Church. Some scientists claim that his vision was a mistake because of the suffering he experienced. Finally, this research can contribute to further discussion, so that it can be used to explore the importance of understanding the prophecies of Allah's messengers to stay away from wrong thinking.

Abstract

This paper attempts to discuss the discourse related to secularism. Secularismis an ideology that is understood as a process of separation between religion and theworld. The existence of this ideology can eliminate (nihilism) the traditional value ofthe concept of God in human life. When examined more deeply, history appears thatsecularism can cause several problems that affect the confusion in human life. This canbe seen from the social, economic and political fields. First, in social life, it gives riseto a social theory related to social life, namely Marxism, a theory that teaches humanawareness how to socialize which affects a very materialist economic attitude. Thesecond is in the economic field, so that in the process it gives rise to capitalism, whichis one of the incarnations of secularization in the economy. Third, in politics there is aseparation between religion and state. From this impact affects human life. The role ofWestern thinkers has also influenced the emergence of secularism in human life. Withthe development of secularism in people’s lives, it also affects religious attitudes inlife. In this study, secularism greatly affects people’s life, especially in modern timeslike today. Abstract

Polygyny is one of the objects to reform Islamic family law in modern Muslim countries. In addition to meeting the demands of the times, the renewal of polygyny regulations also aims to improve the position and protect women's rights. Most modern Muslim countries have renewed polygyny regulations by limiting and prohibiting polygyny accompanied by criminalization. This study utilizes a comparative descriptive method to compare the polygynous requirements in Indonesia, Morocco, Tunisia, Somalia, Turkey, and Pakistan from the perspective of the philosophy of Islamic law. The research findings show that the categorization of polygyny regulations in modern Muslim countries consists of: absolute prohibition of polygyny, permissibility with strict conditions, permissibility with weak conditions, obligation to seek court permission, and criminalization of polygyny. There are two main elements required for polygyny in modern Muslim countries: an internal element in the form of the condition of husband and wife and an external component in the form of the role of the court institution in granting polygyny permits. Thus, the philosophical basis of these differences is mostly caused by the diversity of Madhabs in each country that aimed to maintain their people’s prosperity and to renew Islamic family law which brings a contemporary spirit especially the embodiment of equality and increase in the position of women
