Abstract

Abstract

This study had two aims, first was to determine the index of diversity, evenness, richness and dominance of gastropods species in the mangrove ecosystem, to assess the important value index of mangroves in the mangrove ecosystem, and the second one to understand the association of gastropods and mangrove in the mangrove ecosystem in Payum Beach, Merauke Regency. This research was conducted in September-October2021. This research using method of transect with a 100 m lenght of transect size. The research location devided into two station that are distinguished by the mangrove ecosystem to see the associated mollusc species. There were 8 species of gastropods that were analyzed including: Terebralia palustris, Terebralia semistriata, Telescopium telescopium, Cassidula angulifera, Cerithidea obstusa, Littorina intermedia, Littorina pallencens, and Littorina scabra. The diversity index (H’) of gastropods is 1,9370 so it is categorized as moderate, meanwhile the richness index (R) is 0,86 and the dominance (C) 0,16 both of these categorized as low, whilst inversely proportional to the evenness index (E) which shows the number 0,93 which means high evenness so that the community is stable. Furthermore, there are 3 types of mangroves namely Bruguirea cylindrica, Lumnitzera racemosa, dan Aegialitis annulata. Nonetheless, the relationship between the abundance of individuals of gastropods and the presence of mangroves at the research sites at station I and station II tended to be weak.

Abstract

Littorinidae is family of gastropods which found abundantly distributed from roots till the edge of mangroves leafs. The aims of research were to find out the abundance, length-weight relationship, distribution patterns and conditions factors of Littorina intermedia which is associated with mangrove ecosystems in Payum beach. This study conducted in three months start in June until August 2020 in the Mangrove Forest Ecosystem of Payum Merauke Beach. Line transect methods with purposive sampling are using to collected all the samples. There are three stations in this location. The results found in Stasion I tnd., respectively.   Both length and weight in the three stations separated into 4 categorize. The higest categories in St. I and St. II belong to category length between 0,96-1,70 cm approximately 638 ind and 84 ind. Reverse with that in St. III belong to category III (1,71-2,45 cm) with 15 ind. Furthermore, for weight analysis dominate with category I with 0,00-0,59 gram which is found in all station.  For lenght and weight analysis using Regreation showed Allometric Negative where the growth of length is faster than body weight. Morever the distribution pattern in all sampling site showed in clumped pattern. The condition factor of species L. intermedia, ranges from 0.31 to 26.45 with an average of 1.15. Key Words: Merauke; Weight-Length Relationship; Distribution; Gastropod; Littorina

Abstract

Carp (Cyprinus carpio) is a freshwater fish that is commonly cultivated because carp are large and tame when cultivated. In addition, carp can be bred and have a beautiful colours, moreover tend to famous among local people as a consumption fish, which is also can be used as ornamental fish. Carp can be cultivated in lowland waters to highland areas. In fish farmingm it is important to pay attention to good and clean water quality. Carp can be kept in earthen ponds, rushwater ponds, cages and also tarpaulin ponds. Carp rearing in tarpaulin ponds is usually carried out on narrow land and limited water ability. In there circumstances, it is necesarry to provide water that can support the life of carp to provide good quality of water is to do water recirculation. Resirculation technique is a water recycling technique that has been used. This technique basically performs physical, chemical and biological methods, but which is more environmentally friendly with physical and biological methods, for that in this activity physical and biological methods will be carried out using water filters from sand and aquatic plants. As a result, participants understand how good and correct cultivation techniques are, obtain information bioecology of carp, hatchery techniques, spawning techniques, resirculation techniques including threaten by various diseases and others causes in cultivation carp business. Furthermore, participants also gain more knowledge about what materials and proper equipment they should using and urgently needed to build a cultivation business on limited land and low water flow

Abstract

The wealth of fisheries resources of Merauke Regency is indeed very abundant. This is evidenced by the location of the fishing ground for fishermen who only catch from the beach, one of which is located in Payum Beach. This study aims to determine the composition of fish and shrimp catches during the wet season. Drift gillnet was used as a fishing gear during this study to collect the data. A Total of 13 species were captured, such as Mugil dussumieri and Megalops cyprinoides were the most dominant species during this period. However, based on the number, Penaeid shrimp such as Penaeus sp. and Penaeus semisulcatus are found to be very abundant during the wet season.

Abstract

Mayo Swamp is located in Jaya Makmur Village Kurik 4 Kurik District, Regency of Merauke, South Papua Province. It has the potential of aquatic plant which is never exposed and never been studied before. This study aims to identify the species, community structure, and important valur index. The method used in this research is purposive sampling methods, through this method the quadrant 5 x 5m placed in 3 research station, and the total of quadrant was 25 quadrants. Sampling and Analysis held for three months start in August until October 2021. The results show that 4 spesies of aquatic plants successfully identified there are Nephrolepis sp., Stenochlaena palustris (Lemidi), Typha angustifolia (Lidi Air), Nelumbo nucifera (Lotus). Community structure of aquatic plants in mayo Swamps consist of diversity index (H’) the highest is 1,31 and lowest is 0,11 and categorized in low diversity. Eveness index (E) in stasiun I is the highest (0,18), meanwhile in station II and III is 0,3 and cetagorized as low. Furthermore, for Dominance Index (D) the highest goes to station II with 0,75 wand the lowest in station III with 0,29 and it can be concluded that the dominance indez of aquatic plaants in Mayo Swamp Waters in low. Along with that Important Value Index (IVI) was in the same category and species with the higher number of IVI is Stenochlaena palustris (Lemidi) with 95,483.
