Abstract

The use of technology during the current pandemic facilitates the process of online teaching and learning activities. One of the digital applications that can support learning English is Khan Academy. Khan Academy offers educational videos and exercises in various contents. The application helps educators and students to meet the educational challenges faced in the current pandemic conditions. The use of Khan Academy has been implemented in many developing countries including Indonesia. The purpose of this Community Service activity is to find out the effect of using the Khan Academy application on learning English and inculcating good values in students. In the activity, the writers focus one to see the development of children character building and increase motivation to learn English. It was held at TBM Sanggar Baca Jendela Dunia Ciputat. The descriptive qualitative was applied to explore the results. It has two aspects of outcomes: using digital applications, children are expected to achieve reinforcement to improve English language skills, and children at Sanggar Baca Jendela Dunia are expected to obtain the positive development of character buildings which are enthusiasm, independence, and thoroughness in the English learning process. The use of this application is expected to have a lot of positive impacts for students to support academic and non- academic achievements, as well as in daily activities.

Abstract

This study aims to find out students’ responses through the use of Edpuzzleas an application in achieving listening comprehension. As a foreign language in Indonesia, sometimes students will face some obstacles and difficulties in learning the English language; the obstacles that must be faced by the first-year students, where else there are some skills to learn at the same time which will worsen their learning process as it will be hard to be understood with low competence in the first place. The use of Edpuzzle here is expected to help to get through the initial problem related to the achievement of listening comprehension. Edpuzzle is a platform that helps teachers invite students to have fun learning using videos. These videos can be edited and adjusted to the goal of the teachers in the class activity on a particular subject; they can be cut, recorded new voice, and add some more questions if it is needed. In this study, the participants are first-year students in English Literature of the University of Pamulang (UNPAM) with 54 students in the subject of listening. The data were collected by using a questionnaire and the discussion in the e-learning forum of UNPAM in listening subjects. The results of the study revealed that the students were interested in learning the English language of the subject listening using Edpuzzle as it lifts their consciousness so that they can overwhelmingly enjoy the process of learning. They also found out that the subject listening is becoming entertaining to learn and can be a fun learning too even with the task that is difficult for them, alongside their thought that learning English using Edpuzzle can help them improve their listening comprehension in a fun way possible.

Abstract

Salah satu institusi pendidikan di Indonesia yang menerapkan sistem pembelajaran jarak jauh pada saat pandemi COVID-19 adalah Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Jam’iyyatul Khair di Tangerang Selatan. Faktanya, staf pengajar di Madrasah ini mengalami kesulitan dalam memaksimalkan pembelajaran online. Kendala tersebut disebabkan oleh rendahnya minat siswa dalam membaca materi sebelum mengerjakan tugas sehingga berdampak pada hasil belajar siswa. Sebagai solusinya, tim Pengabdian Masyarakat (PkM) Universitas Pamulang mengadakan workshop tentang literasi digital dan dimensi literasi lainnya seperti budaya dan pendidikan karakter. Kegiatan PKM ini tidak dipungut biaya dan disampaikan langsung oleh dosen dan mahasiswa. Aplikasi Edpuzzle dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan literasi media digital sebagai sarana pendukung pembelajaran jarak jauh. Hal ini dirancang agar suasana belajar menjadi lebih menarik dan hidup, sehingga kemampuan literasi digital siswa akan meningkat seiring dengan pendidikan karakter yang baik. Dengan menelaah kuesioner – pertanyaan yang mencakup literasi digital hingga Edpuzzle – yang dibagikan kepada peserta sebelum dan sesudah lokakarya, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Edpuzzle merupakan alternatif baru dan menyenangkan dalam pembelajaran jarak jauh bagi pendidik dan siswa.

Abstract

Di periode endemi saat ini, banyak para wirausahawan memulai untuk membuka usaha mereka yang diawali dengan usaha rumahan, tetapi kebanyakan dari mereka tidak begitu paham mengenai istilah-istilah dalam bahasa Inggris yang sering digunakan dalam kewiraushaan dan strategi yang harus mereka terapkan Tujuan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) untuk mensosialisasikan istilah-istilah dalam bahasa Inggris dalam kewirausahaan dan strategi bagaimana memulai usaha dan mengembangkan usaha. Metode dalam menjabarkan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan mendeskripsikan hasil kuesioner para peserta,secara eksplisit. Instrumen yang digunakan penulis adalah wawancara sebelum kegiatan sosialisasi dan kuesioner yang didistribusikan setelah kegiatan sosialisai. Sasaran kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini ditargetkan kepada anggota lembaga DIALEKTIKA sebanyak 30 peserta yang memiliki keanekaragaman latar belakang. Hasil kegiatan PkM menunjukan bahwa istilah jargon COD menempati posisi teratas dengan presentase 23% dari jumlah responden. Ini menunjukkan bahwa istilah COD sangat populer di berbagai macam bidang usaha yang diminati peserta. Selain itu, manfaat sosialisasi terkait istilah-istilah kewirausaahaan yaitu dapat membuka kesempatan untuk membuat bisnis.Kata  kunci:  Istilah-istilah bahasa Inggris, kewirausahaan, strategi
