Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan dasar penamaan kue jajanan pasar di Pasar Lempuyangan Kota Yogyakarta. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan metode simak, yaitu metode yang digunakan dengan cara peneliti menyimak penggunaan bahasa (Mahsun, 2005: 242). Selanjutnya digunakan teknik catat dan teknik simak bebas libat cakap. Ketika menerapkan teknik simak bebas libat cakap, peneliti berperan sebagai pengamat penggunaan bahasa oleh informannya (Mahsun, 2005: 92). Selain itu, teknik wawancara juga digunakan. Data yang sudah diklasifikasikan dianalisis dengan metode padan translasional. Kemudian hasil analisis data disajikan dengan metode formal, yaitu penyajian kaidah penggunaan bahasa dengan hal-hal yang mudah dilihat, seperti tabel, diagram, bagan, gambar, dan grafik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya tiga jenis dasar penamaan, yaitu (i) penamaan berdasarkan satu dasar, (ii) penamaan berdasarkan dua dasar, dan (iii) penamaan berdasarkan tiga dasar. Ketiga jenis tersebut dikategorikan berdasarkan referennya.This research describes the basis for the naming of the traditional snacks at Pasar Lempuyangan, Yogyakarta City. The data were collected using the listening method, which is the method used by the researcher listening to the use of language (Mahsun, 2005: 242). Furthermore, the note-taking technique and the engaging-free listening technique were used proficiently. When applying the proficient free listening technique, the researcher acts as an observer of the use of language by the informant (Mahsun, 2005: 92). Apart from that, interviewing techniques were also used. The classified data were analyzed using the translational equivalent method. Then the results of data analysis are presented with a formal method, namely presenting the rules for using language with things that are easy to see, such as tables, diagrams, charts, pictures, and graphics. The results showed that there were three basic types of naming, namely (i) naming based on one basis, (ii) naming based on two bases, and (iii) naming based on three bases. The three types are categorized based on their references.
