Abstract

AbstractThe article provides information about the implementation of cooperative learning: three-step interview among students STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo (STKIP-MB) and the improvement of their speaking skill on descriptive text through the use of this technnique. Participants were 15 students of the first year students at English Department. The method of this research was classroom action research (CAR) which consisted of planning, actioning, observing and reflecting. Data of the research were analyzed by using two methods of data analysis namely quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. Quantitative data analyses were used to measure and interpret the data from the task and speaking test, while data which had taken from observation, field note and interview were analyzed by using qualitative data analysis. The research results showed that there was a significant increase of students’ speaking skill on descriptive text over the cycles test. The student’s score rose gradually, it was started at 46.48 in pre-cycle test and being increased 68.17 in the first cycle test. Then, it rocketed at around 75.88 in the second cycle. The improvement of students speaking skill influenced by two factors remained as internal factor and external factor. The internal factors proposed by students’ motivation and their anxiety, whereas external factors concerned with the teaching material and the classroom management. Keywords: Speaking, Descriptive Text, Three-step Interview

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat saat ini adalah belum bisa memanfaatkan internet sebagai sarana promosi produk lokal khususnya media sosial. Masyarakat Indonesia khususnya desa aburan batang tebo masih menggunakan metode lama atau offline serta kurang nya keingintahuan mereka untuk mencari informasi dan cenderung pasrah dengan keadaan. Selain itu, kemasan produk makanan atau kerajinan tangan didesa tersebut kurang menarik dan kurang memiliki nilai jual.Berangkat dari permasalahan inilah kami pelaksanakan pengabdian masyarakat yang berjudul pelatihan pemasaran produk lokal secara online kepada masyarakat desa aburan batang tebo kecamatan tebo tengah.Tujuan dari kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan pemasaran secara online ini adalah bentuk pengabdian masyarakat dalam bermitra dengan desa aburan guna meningkatkan penjualan produk mereka melalui pemasaran online.Pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat ini dalam bentuk pelatihan pemasaran produk dengan memanfaatkan media sosial dan marketplace.Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di desa aburan batang tebo,kecamatan Tebo tengah Kabupaten Tebo.sasaran nya adalah masyarakat desa aburan yang berasal dari seluruh lapisan masyarakat tanpa membedakan gender atau usia.Materi yang kami sampaikan meliputi pemasaran produk lokal secara online melalui media social dan juga memanfaatkan marketplace sebagai salah satu media promosi serta pendampingan design produk.kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama 2 hari dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 45 orang. Metode yang digunakan alah ceramah dan pembagian materi dalam bentuk hardcopy. Gadget dan wifi adalah media yang digunakan dalam menunjang pelaksanaan kegiatan ini.Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya keterampilan dan pengetahuan peserta serta mereka dapat membuat dan memanfaatkan seluruh akun social media untuk mempromosikan produk serta membuat akun di marketplace yang telah meereka tentukan dan juga para peserta bisa mendesign kemasan produk sesuia dengan keinginan mereka tentu saja dengan design yang menarik dan memiliki nilai jual.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze the impact of social media on the student’s academic achievement. The survey research method was used. Subjects were drawn from the second year students of Elementary Teacher Education Department in STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo The researcher adopted Kendall’s coefficient of concordance and factor analysis as analytical tools for the study. A survey design provides a quantitative description of the population that is sampled through the data collection process (Frankel and Wallen, 1995). The study also employed the questionnaire as the data collection instrument for the study. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data collected. The descriptive analysis tools in the SPSS were employed to develop tables and frequencies which were constructively analyzed. The result revealed that majority of respondents used whatsapp and facebook to find new friends and application for communication. Furthermore, majority of respondents experienced negative effects such as late submission of assignment, less study time and poor academic achievement due to the heavy participation on social media networks. Therefore, there were cases where others experienced improvement in their reading skill as a result of participation on social media networks. Also respondents shared ideas, discussed and shared examination among them on social media network. The study recommended the strict enforcement of STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo rule on electronic devices usage in campus, promotion of social media usage for academic purpose and counseling for addicted students

Abstract

Listening skill is considered as a major factor of language learning and teaching since it is plays an important role in communication process. However, some media to improve student’s listening skill such as audio, visual, and audio-visual had been developed since past view decades, many students and the teachers do not pay enough attention to its importance media in their classes. In this article, the researchers review some important issues concerning the use of audio-visual media namely movie to provide a starting point for developing listening skill. It starts through a brief discussion of definition listening, analyzing some problems in listening comprehension, pursued by reviewing recommended film category and the structure of movie, tips to learn English through a movies, and discussion the relationships between watching movie and listening skills. The research result from the review of literature indicated that movie is the suitable media to help teacher explain the material thoroughly and concretely. Watching movie as media in teaching and learning process allows the students to understand the language in a form of natural contexts, since they can analyze the use of the language and make connections between words and images.

Abstract

This Research is descriptive quantitative method. The subjects of the research are twenty five students of second grade at SMPN 4 Muara Bungo who are detected as having constraint in writing of descriptive text. This research is aimed to find out Second grade difficulties in writing of descriptive text and the cause. They are second grade especially VII.2. The test and questionnaire were used as the instruments of this research. The test was used to obtain the data about the Second grade difficulties in writing of descriptive text. Furthermore, the questionnaire ware used to obtain the data about the causes of the second grade difficulties in writing of descriptive text. The finding showed that the students find constraint in all point of scoring, the highest percentage is 87% of students have constraint in grammar, the second percentage are 80% of students have constraint in vocabulary and 70% of students have constraint in content, the third percentage is 69% of students have constraint in organizing, and the last percentage is 68% of students have constraint in mechanism. Whereas, the factors causing the Second Grade difficulties in writing mastery of descriptive text are learners’ background (81%), teaching technique (71%), and the learners’ environment (78%). Based on the data finding in this research, some suggestions are given to English teacher that the teacher should emphasize to solve the students’ constraint and also he should learn better to apply the techniques of teaching writing skill. Some suggestions are given to students learn more enterprising about English, especially about writing from descriptive text, pay attention to the teacher well when learning, and if anyone does not understand then ask the teacher.

Abstract

This research aimed to see the students’ perception in practicing speaking English using the English Domino game. It was conducted using qualitative research with a case study approach. Fifteen students of the English Department at a private university in Muara Bungo were chosen by using purposive sampling. Furthermore, this research used interviews related to their experience and motivation in speaking English with the domino games to collect the data. The results indicated that the students’ motivation in practicing speaking in English increased by using the English domino games. Most of the students felt relaxed and confident to speak while playing English Domino. They were also excited and motivated to take their turns in telling the connected story. This kind of game can be an alternative for teaching English, particularly speaking in a non-English speaking country.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui implementasi entrepreneurship dalam masalah  media  pembelajaran di sekolah. Tujuan dari penulisan yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan nilai, sikap serta semangat entrepeneurship dalam pendidkan dan mendeskripsikan implementasi media pembelajaran berbasis entrepreneur. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian studi literatur. Hasil dan Pembahasan penelitian yaitu bahwa Pendidikan kewirausahaan atau entrepreneurship dapat dimaknai sebagai pendidikan calon pengusaha agar memiliki keberanian, kemandirian, serta keterampilan sehingga meminimalkan kegagalan dalam usaha dan juga bukan mendidik seseorang untuk menjadi pedagang. Kesimpulan penelitian bahwa pendidikan entrepreneur memberikan kontribusi berupa sebuah alat atau sumber pendidikan yang mengarahkan dan membekali peserta didik untuk bisa lebih cepat dalam merespon perubahan dan memahami kebutuhan sosial ekonomi masyarakat.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian untuk membahas mengenai hakikat, tujuan serta materi pendidikan entrepreneuership disekolah. Adapun tujuan dari penulisan ini adalah untuk membahas tentang hakikat entrepeneurship di sekolah, tujuan entrepeneurship di sekolah dan penerapan materi entrepreneurship disekolah. Metode penelitian mengunakan Studi Literatur. Adapun hasil dari pembahasan hakikat, tujuan dan materi pembelajaran enterpreunership di sekolah yaitu sekolah bagian integral dari sektor ekonomi yang ikut mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi nasional, sehingga perlu dikembangkan kuantitas dan kualitasnya. Kualitas sekolah akan merefleksikan kualitas tenga kerja Indonesia yang perlu dibangun untuk meningkatkan keunggulan kompetitif sumber daya manusia Indonesia. Tantangan yang ada pada saat ini yang berhubungan dengan pendidikan antara lain meningkatkan kuantitas dan kualitas pendidikan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan lokal dan nasional serta mampu bersaing secara global, serta menghasilkan SDM kreatif. Kesimpulannya adalah pada kelas kewirausahaan ini diharapkan lebih efektif dalam penanaman jiwa wirausaha dan penanaman kemandirian para calon lulusan SMU/SMK sehingga para siswa nantinya lebih mandiri/professional dalam segala situasi berusaha.Perlu adanya kesiapan dari para guru dalam pelaksanaan kurikulum kelas kewirausahaan serta sarana dan prasarana nya
