Abstract

The aim of research was to test the stability of the sunscreen 2-ethyl hexyl p-methoxycinnamate (EHPMS) in bentonite pillared Ti4+. The stability was determined by comparing with the sunscreen 2-ethyl hexyl p-methoxycinnamate without bentonite terpilar Ti4+ using TLC and IR spectrophotometer. The results of stability test showed that the EHPMS more stable in bentonite pillared Ti4+ matrix.4+. Abstract

A flavanone namely 5-hydroxy-7-methoxy flavanone (pinostrobin) had been isolated from dichloromethane extract of the leaves of the Pteriss vittata. It was gained as a pale yellow needles, m.p. 96-97 oC. The molecular structure of isolate was identified by spectroscopic methods, including UV, IR, and EIMS.A flavanone namely 5-hydroxy-7-methoxy flavanone (pinostrobin) had been isolated from dichloromethane extract of the leaves of the Pteriss vittata. Abstract

This research is purposed to know adsorption capability of pillaring bentonite in regenerating the waste cooking oil. Pillaritation was carried out using aluminium, while the quality of waste cooking oil yielded from regeneration was observed based on the colour, acid number, water conten, and peroxide number. The results of research showed that the bentonite pillared by AlCl3.6H2O 0.3 M and NaOH 0.5 M gave the maximal characteristics, namely acid number (0.2549%), peroxide number (5.626413 meq), water content (776 ppm) and color brightness (L3.5). It can be concluded that the pillaring bentonite could improve the quality of waste cooking oil and suitable with the quality requirements of SNI 01-3741-2002. 3.6H2O 0.3 M and NaOH 0.5 M gave the maximal characteristics, namely acid number (0.2549%), peroxide number (5.626413 meq), water content (776 ppm) and color brightness (L3.5). Abstract

The aim of research was to study the chemical kinetic of esterification of ester derivided from cinnamic acid, namely octyl-p-methoxy cinnamate. It was synthesized from ethyl-p-methoxy cinnamate isolated from kencur tuber and n-octanol. Results showed that esterification of octyl-p-methoxy cinnamate proceeded through first order reaction and its activation energy was 1530 Joule/ mol.
