Abstract

This study describes feeding habit and strategy of scalloped perchlet (Ambassis nalua) according to ontogenetic shift and seasonal period. The fish samples were collected monthly from December 2010 to November 2011 in Segara Me-nyan Lagoon, West Java. Trammel net and gill net was used to catch the fish sample. We analyzed stomach contents of 380 individuals. Food items of the scalloped perchlet were composed of four categories, namely microcrustaceans, polychaetes, amphipods, and gastropods. According to ontogenetic shift and seasonal period, microcrustaceans used as main food by scalloped perchlet. Conversely, niche breadth of food influenced by ontogenetic shift and seasonal period, whereas percentage of stomach fullness significantly affected by seasonal period. Feeding strategy of the scalloped perchlet was mixed strategies (specialization-generalization). Information about of the diet of the scalloped perchlet shows dependence on estuarine ecosystems that provide of food resources. AbstrakPenelitian ini menggambarkan kebiasaan dan strategi pola makanan ikan seriding berdasarkan perubahan ontogenetik dan musim.Contoh ikan dikoleksi setiap bulan dari Desember 2010 hingga November 2011 di Segara Menyan, Jawa Barat. Penangkapan ikan menggunakan jaring berlapis dan jaring insang. Pengamatan isi saluran pencernaan dilakukan terhadap 380 ekor ikan seriding. Menu makanan terdiri atas empat kategori, yaitu mikrokrustase, polikaeta, amfipoda, dan gastropoda. Berdasarkan perubahan ontogenetik dan musim, ikan seriding menunjukkan menu makanan utama yang sama yaitu mikrokrustase. Kondisi yang berbeda terlihat pada luas relung makanan yang dipengaruhi oleh perubahan ontogenetik dan musim, sementara persentase kepenuhan lambung yang secara nyata dipengaruhi oleh perubahan musim. Strategi pola makanan ikan seriding adalah strategi gabungan (spesialis-generalis). Informasi mengenai menu makanan ikan seriding menunjukkan ketergantungannya terhadap ekosistem estuari yang menjamin ketersediaan makanan.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate reproduction of silver sillago (Sillago sihama). Samples were collected from April to December 2003 from fish caught by fishermen using beach seine, gill net, and trap net in Mayangan Waters. Analysis was done to estimate gonad maturity, gonado somatic index, fecundity, and oocyte diameter. Silver sillago was 554 individual consisted of 252 male and 302 female fish varied 65-234 mm in total body length. Sex ratio was around 1:1.19 (“chi-square” analysis a=0.05). First maturity gonad of male and female fish was 129-234 mm. According to gonad maturity stage and gonado somatic index, fish was estimated to spawn from April to December with a peak one during December. Fecundity was 26,400-283,500 eggs and oocyte diameter was 10-809 ^m. Based on oocyte distribution, the fish was estimated a partial spawner. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis beberapa aspek reproduksi ikan rejung (Sillago sihama). Pengambilan ikan contoh dilakukan pada bulan April sampai Desember 2003. Ikan contoh diperoleh dari hasil tangkapan nelayan dengan menggunakan pukat pantai, jaring rampus, dan jaring kantong di perairan Mayangan. Analisis dilakukan terhadap kematangan gonad, indeks kematangan gonad, fekunditas, dan diameter telur. Ikan rejung yang diperoleh selama penelitian berjumlah 554 ekor yang terdiri atas 252 ekor ikan jantan dan 302 ekor ikan betina dengan kisaran panjang total 65-234 mm. Nisbah kelamin selama penelitian diperoleh 1:1,19 (uji “chi-square” pada taraf nyata 0,05). Ikan rejung jantan dan betina pertama kali matang gonad pada selang panjang 129-144 mm. Berdasarkan nilai tingkat kematangan gonad dan indeks kematangan gonad, diduga ikan rejung memijah pada bulan April sampai Desember dengan puncak pemijahan pada bulan Desember. Fekunditas ikan rejung berkisar 26.400-283.500 butir telur, dan diameter telur berkisar 10-809 ^m. Berdasarkan distribusi telur, ikan rejung diduga termasuk tipe pemijah bertahap.

Abstract

Rabbitfish (Siganus canaliculatus) is a dominant catch of beach seine in seagrass beds at Lonthoir Strait, Banda Ar-chipelago.The aims of this research were to investigate the length frequencies, length-weight relationships, and growth of rabbitfish in this area. This research was carried out from July to December 2009 using beach seine in three locations of seagrass area of Lonthoir Strait. Data analyzed using FiSAT program. The results showed that the length of rabbitfish ranged from 44 to 300 mm TL. From the length and weight data of males and females, the following population parameters were estimated: W=0.017L149 (r = 0.88) and W=0.012L156 (r = 0.89), L„ (mm) = 307.13, W„ (g) = 84.74 and 92.40, K = 0.50 and 0.52. The growth models of males and females rabbitfish described by equation: Lt=307.13[e' 0 50(t+0.i72)] and Lt=307.13[e'a52(t+0165)], while growth model base on weight described by equation: Wt=84.74[e' o.5o(t+o.i72)] and Wt=92.40[e'a52(t+0165)]. This study concluded that the population of rabbitfish in this area mostly juveniles and consisted of one cohort. AbstrakIkan beronang (Siganus canaliculatus) termasuk salah satu hasil tangkapan dominan dari nelayan jaring pantai di padang lamun Selat Lonthoir, Kepulauan Banda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap distribusi ukuran panjang, hubungan panjang-bobot, dan pertumbuhannya. Pengamatan terhadap hasil tangkapan ikan beronang di tiga lokasi telah dilakukan sejak bulan Juli hingga Desember 2009 dengan menggunakan jaring pantai. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak FiSAT. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan kisaran panjang total ikan beronang yang tertangkap adalah 44-300 mm. Model hubungan panjang-bobot yang diperoleh untuk ikan beronang jantan adalah W=0,017L1,49 (r = 0,88) dan betina W=0,012L1,56 (r = 0,89). Panjang teoritis (L„) sebesar 307,13 mm, bobot teoritis jantan (W„) 84,74 g dan betina 92,40 g dengan nilai koefisien pertumbuhan (K) sebesar 0,50 dan 0,52. Pertumbuhan ikan beronang jantan dan betina di Selat Lonthoir dapat diestimasi dengan rumus Lt=307,13[e'0,50(t+0,172)] dan Lt=307,13[e'0,52(t+0,165)]. Model pertumbuhan ikan beronang berdasarkan bobot (W„) dapat diduga dengan rumus Wt=84,74[e'0,50(t+0,172)] untuk jantan dan betina Wt=92,40[e'0,52(t+0,165)]. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar ikan beronang yang hidup di padang lamun Selat Lonthoir berukuran juwana dan umumnya dijumpai dalam satu kelompok umur.

Abstract

This study was carried out from July to December 2009 in three locations of seagrass area at Lonthoir Strait, Banda Archipelago, Moluccas. The aim of study is to analyze seagrass condition and spatial distribution of the rabbitfish Siganus canaliculatus. The result shows that the species density of the seagrass at three stations ranged from 7.48 to 235.50 ind. m-2 with the highest species density is Cymodocea rotundata at station 1 and 2, and Thalassia hemprichii at station 3. The highest abundance of the fish was found at station 1 and the lowest one was at station 2. According the Kruskal-Wallis test, abundance of male and female rabbitfishes were not statistically different at among stations (H = 0.17, P = 0.66 and H = 0.83, P = 0.92). The correspondence analysis shows that there were two groups of habitat of the rabbitfishes in research station. The first group is station 1 and the second one is station 2 and 3.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate gonad maturity of long tonguesole (Cynoglossus lingua). Samples were collected from August 2005 to Januari 2006 from fish caught by fishermen using gill net and trap net in Ujung Pangkah waters. Analysis was done to estimate gonad maturity, gonado-somatic index, fecundity, and oocyte diameter. Long tonguesole was 202 individual consisted of 94 male and 108 female fish varied 65-325 mm in total body length. Sex ratio was around 1:1.4. First maturity gonad of male and female fish was 94-122 mm. According to gonad maturity stage and gonadosomatic index, fish was estimated to spawn from August to January with a peak one during December. Fecundity was 360-35926 eggs and oocyte diameter was 0.08-0.63 mm. Based on oocyte distribution, the fish was estimated a partial spawner.
