Abstract

English is interested by the young learners. They are fun when learning English. It is proved by many young learners follows our free courses in a village. It is located in Sarogodung Village, Sipirok, South tapanuli, North Sumatera. They do not receive English in their formal education. That is the reason of writer gave free courses for them. The aims of this article is to tell that the using appropriate method in learning English be key point approach for the young learners. English can be lovely subject for them. The method used in this article is Reenactment. It is a model reacted from the story. It can be as overt simulation. It used to suggest the young learners’ motivation in learning English. The method of the article is descriptive analysis. The sample is young learners consists of 25 people. They come from 7 up to 10 years old. The writer used interview, observation and test to get the data. The result of the article was the young learner enthusiast, full spirit, enjoy in learning English. They do not felt that English is bored. It depends on the suitable method and strategies in teaching and learning the English. Key word: Reenactment, young leaner, teaching method

Abstract

Microteaching is a teacher training technique in learning teaching skills. It employs real teaching situation for developing skills and helps to get deeper knowledge regarding the art of teaching with the significant reduction in the teaching complexities with respect to number of students in a class, scope of content, and timeframe, etc. Most of the pre-service teacher education programs widely use microteaching, and it is a proven method to attain gross improvement in the instructional experiences. Effective student teaching should be the prime quality of a teacher. The objective of this article is to analyze students’ teaching strategies used in micro teaching performances. The Population was English departments’ students from sixth semester class. Descriptive Qualitative is used in analyzed the data. Besides, the writer used observation checklist and video documentation of students’ micro teaching performance for collecting the data in gathering information on students’ teaching strategies. The writer found there were two types of teaching strategies used; direct instruction strategy and indirect instruction strategy. In direct instruction strategy, English students always used memory, cognitive and compensation strategies. Otherwise, metacognitive, affective and social strategies founds in terms of indirect strategy used by the students in micro teaching performance. Furthermore, the application of teaching strategies in teaching and learning process will help the teacher to convey information about teaching material to the students and to increase the learning outcomes. Keywords : Teaching Strategies, Micro Teaching Performance, direct instruction and indirect instruction strategies

Abstract

Technology of podcasting becomes a popular teaching media in education nowadays. It gives the students opportunity to study anytime and anywhere. It is flexible, dynamics and powerful to improve students listening comprehension. It gives new challenge in the context of language learning especially listening that as first skill of language acquisition. This was a classroom action research study. It aims at identifying the listening improvement of third semester students of Informatics Management at AMIK Mitra Gama academic year 2019/2020 by using podcasts. The participants were 24 students(3 MMI class). Finding of this study showed that utilizing podcast can improve not only student’s listening comprehension achievement (66.96% in fisrt cycle to 68,29% in second cycle) but also student’s participation (46,67% in cycle 1 to 56,67% in cycle 2). In sum, podcasts can be an attractive media in teaching listening at AMIK Mitra Gama.

Abstract

Covid 19 disease has brought the new atmosphere for teaching and learning process. Where the real activity for lectures and students was very limited to do face-to-face activity. It is the fact that education and other side of world activity forced now. Learning from Home (LFH) as the one of alternative instructed by stakeholder to carry out the teaching and learning even though they are not in the classroom. This study present how the blended learning will be applied in academic writing Subject. This study is a case study design where the writer describes and evaluates blended learning in Academic Writing subject learning process to deliver the materials based on syllabus, writing practice by doing task, assignment submission and grading, students concern with the teachers’ elaboration and Foreign Language action and students evaluation. The participants will allow in this study are 13 students of ffifth semester students of English Education Program, Mandailing Natal Islamic State Collage. The data is collected through observation and short interview analysis. The result of this study shows that the students appreciated and benefited from the blended learning used in Academic Writing Subject. It help motivated the students to became independent learners and increase their ability in writing paragraph, essay, undergraduate proposal or thesis and so on.
