Abstract

This study aims to forecast the polyesterusage for the upcoming 12 months and to findout the suitable method of imported rawmaterial inventory control in PT Apparel OneIndonesia by comparing and analyzing theimplementation of JIT concept and EOQmethod as well as to determine the safetystock and reorder point in inventoryprocurement of the company. The data usedin this study are secondary data of importedraw material procurement system, the costsassociated with raw materials inventory2015-2016 and other relevant data. Polyesteris observed since it is imported fabric rawmaterial which mostly used in the company. The polyester usage predicted by regressionis continuously increases per month. Theforecasting result can be accepted becausethe tracking signal value is not more than ± 4.Whereas, EOQ method is more suitable to beused by the company since the inventory costis lower than the cost applying JIT concept. Itis possible to save 13% or 9,512,693.3 IDR.Moreover, by applying EOQ method, it alsodetermines the reorder point (ROP) andsafety stock inventory to guarantee thesmoothness of production activities. Thecompany can purchase raw materials whenthe quantity of inventory is amounted to375.547 yards (ROP), while the safety stockof polyester fabric is 43,006 yards.

Abstract

Obviously listening improves speaking skills. Polytechnic graduates are to have business transaction skills. Meanwhile, the time allotment for English class sessions is limited. Therefore, the teachers are to promote students’ autonomous learning through listening. This study investigates how the students major in commerce at an Indonesian polytechnic complete listening tasks and attitudes toward the acquisition of listening skills. Training on how to complete the listening activities through shadowing was carried out with 43 students. A questionnaire was distributed to find out the students’ views on the suggested listening activities and their opinions to improve them. The study found students’ preferences in practicing listening; most employed 1 or 2 or 3 steps. Most include initial listening, reading, and one of the types of shadowing - silent shadowing with reading or synchronized shadowing or prosody shadowing. None of the students was interested in doing silent shadowing. They admitted that their listening most improved their pronunciation and enriched vocabulary. They expected more lecturer engagement in controlling their listening activity. By better understanding the students’ needs and opinions, strategies to encourage autonomous learning can be improved

Abstract

This study entitled “The Influence of The Marketing Mix on The Export Sales Volumes of TextileProduct at PT. Primatexco Indonesia”, aimed to analyze the influence of the marketing mix onthe export sales volumes. This study used secondary data taken from PT. Primatexco Indonesia, per month in 2004 through 2014.The analysis method that is used in this research is using normality test, classical assumptiontest (which includes heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity, autocorrelation), multiple linearregression analysis, T-test, F-test, and R2(coefficient of determination).Based on the simultaneous test, the results proved that independent variables that is product, place, promotion, and price simultaneously had a significant influence on the export salesvolumes with the calculated value of F values = 167.475 and sig = 0,000 < 5% this meansindependent variables product, place, promotion, and price simultaneously significant influenceon the dependent variable (export sales volume). In other words, the independent variables areable to explain the amount of the dependent variable.Based on partial analysis, the results proved that the three independent variables that is product, place, and price significantly influenced on the export sales volumes. On product variable tcount value of 13.887 was > t table 2.29 which means that Ho was rejected and Ha wasaccepted. While the promotion variable did not have any influence significantly on the exportsales volumes, because t count value -1.609 was < t table, so Ho was accepted and Ha wasrejected. The results of multiple linear regression test shows that all independents variables that isproduct, place, and price had a positive influence on the export sales. The greatest positiveinfluence on export sales volumes was product variable (X1), it is shown from the regressioncoefficient of 8.976, followed by price variable (X4) with a regression coefficient of 1.451E-5,followed by place variable (X2) with a regression coefficient of 2.383E-6. While the promotionvariable (X3) with coefficient regression of -6.210E-10, it means that promotion variable doesnot have any positive influence on the export sales volumes. Keywords: Product, Place, Promotion, Price, Export Sales Volumes, Textile Products

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to analyze the influence of container crane productivity (X1)and ship call frequency (X2) on the number of containers handled (Y) at Terminal PetikemasSemarang branch PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia III. The tool of analysis which was used wasMultiple Regression with Classic Assumption Test. This research used secondary data obtainedfrom TPKS such as monthly report the achievement of performance, monthly report of ship calland monthly report of stevedoring production within period of 6.5 years (January 2009 – June2015).The Result of the Multiple Regression Analysis was Log Y = 4.923991 + 0.525387 log XI+ 0.423276 log X2 + e. This equation showed that all regression coefficients were positive. Itmeans that if container crane productivity and ship call frequency was increased, the number ofthe containers handled would increase too.β1= 0.525, it means that if there is increase in container crane productivity by 10%, it will increase the cargo handling performance by 5.25%. Next, β= 0.423, it explains that if there is an increase in ship call frequency by 10%, it willincrease the cargo handling performance by 4.23%. The result of Coefficient of Determination ofTest shows that container crane productivity and ship call frequency give the proportion orpercentage of the total variation in the number of containers handled for about 94,8%. While, FTestshows that container crane productivity and ship call frequency influenced simultaneouslyon the number of containers handled. Furthermore, container crane productivity influencedpositively on the number of containers handled. Then the other X variable, ship call frequencyinfluenced positively on the number of containers handled.2Key words: Container Crane, Ship Call, Cargo Handling and Port.

Abstract

The concept of employee engagement (EE) is one of the benchmarks in determining employee job satisfaction (JS) which is currently trending and continues to grow in the business world. Engagement is not just a matter of feeling but must be combined with action. Companies that implement employee engagement (EE) will increase productivity which leads to company progress. However, it is not easy for a company to implement employee engagement (EE). The concept of employee engagement (EE) is offered to bridge the insignificance gap. The direction of this research aims to determine the effect of self efficacy (SE) and work life balance (WLB) mediated by employee engagement (EE). Sampling in this study involved 208 employees. The results of the questionnaires distributed obtained a total of 203 respondents with data that could be processed as many as 192. The sample adequacy in this study was 105 so that it was declared fulfilled. Sampling was done with saturated sample technique. The analytical tool in this study uses a Structural Equation Model (SEM) which is processed with AMOS software. The results of the analysis show that self efficacy (SE) and work life balance (WLB) indirectly affect job satisfaction (JS). The contribution of research to fill the body of knowledge through attribution theory by raising the variables of SE, WLB, EE, to JS while managerial implications by building employee training and development, holding gathering activities, and providing adequate facilities for employees. Keywords: self efficacy, work life balance, employee engagement, job satisfaction
