Abstract

The charm of Surabaya culinary has grown well and has become as highly appealing as the other cities. Restaurants with traditional and modern concept are now in high demand, one of them is Warung Apung Rahmawati. This restaurant has grown big and successful. However  Warung Apung Rahmawati isnt based on conceptualized branding. Therefore, the application of the concept of the interior of the WAR restaurant is very necessary to establish a brand image to the public. The concept taken is Punakawan. This concept was chosen to help reflect the main characteristic of Warung Apung Rahmawati restaurant. The character of Punakawan is applied visually into the elements of interior and decoration. The application of this new branding concept is not only meant to create a restaurant branding image towards the society, but also to create an interesting and comfortable atmosphere towards the consumers.

Abstract

The mass quantity of container materials usage as an alternative to housing and offices is increasingly popular in Indonesia, especially in East Java, Surabaya. As an innovation form for a new-build office by considering the concept, construction permits, and land. The concept of the M-Radio Surabaya office was considered interesting because it carries the concept of contemporary youth. So that the concept creates an interior that uses striking colors on the walls, and the application of unique furniture. This study aims to determine the effect of psychology of workers at the M-Radio Surabaya container station that reviewed based on the aspects of Well-Designed Space according to Sally Augustin, using descriptive qualitative methods. The results shows that the M-Radio office managed to pass almost all standards and gave positive influences on its workers.

Abstract

Mall is one of the most accessible recreational places for all because of the variety of entertainment options. However, the lack of facilities that are accessible to the elderly plus their weak physical conditions caused the limitation of activities that they can do in the mall. The interior design of senior entertainment center in the mall in Surabaya can be an alternative option for recreational, educational, and socialization activity between elders. The design method used is Stanford School thinking of design method that has been developed. The method consists understand, observe, resolving needs, prototype, test, story telling, and business model. The design raised the Old but Gold concept which provides facilities to accommodate seniors’ activities, such as activity space, games, and exercise rooms with the aim of increasing happiness, socialization, and support good health both in body as well as their spirit.

Abstract

Ciputra World Mall is one of the high-end malls in Surabaya that has enhanced Surabaya's reputation as the more modern and international class city that has 6 floors, integrated by horizontal & vertical circulation. Circulation is an element that regulates & connects different parts of shopping centers such as anchor stores, secondary anchors, landscaping and other facilities. Organizing circulation according to Peter Coleman was identified as a functional and qualitative circulation requirement. Qualitative circulation requirements are the second recommended planning consideration for mall design details. In general, qualitative circulation requirements gives a character to a place and helps the facilities easier to be remembered. Qualitative requirements is more about the consideration of the mall usage from the visitor's point of view and to make a difference between one mall to another (Coleman, 2006). This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method. This research aims to find out the application of qualitative circulation in the interior of Ciputra World Mall Surabaya. The results obtained from this research shows that "Ciputra World Mall" applies the qualitative circulation requirements according to the parameters.

Abstract

Nostalgic experience is one of the ways to attract visitors to choose the desired space. The nostalgia experience itself is the emergence of a "feeling" that has generated through various things around the individuals, as one of the triggers is the presence of interior elements in a space that can be captured by the Sensory inputs aspects consisting of visual, hearing, touch, taste, and smell (Hwang & Hyun, 2013). Marchegiani & Phau (2010) also said that the nostalgia itself was divided into 2 different points of view, ‘The way I was ’ nostalgia that means personal nostalgia, and ‘The Way it Was’ nostalgia that means historical nostalgia. This study shows how interior elements in a space can influence the emergence of nostalgic experiences that surrounds the visitors' emotional perceptions. The object used in this study is Zangrandi Ice Cream on Jl. Yos Sudarso Surabaya, which is one of the cultural heritage of Surabaya that has been established since 1930. This study uses qualitative and quantitative methods. The results from this study concludes that the interior elements of Zangrandi's outer area that has captured by visual sensory inputs became the most powerful trigger in giving nostalgia experiences, because in general, there has not been much change since it was found.

Abstract

Interior signage a small thing but is very influential to human activities, because without information about directions, often people can get lost and waste time just for wayfinding. Building Q is a new building in Petra Christian University which has been operating since 2017. There are already several interior signages in building Q, but they are still in complete and some have not been up to standards of good interior signage. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effevtiveness of interior signage in the Petra Christian University Q building and provide effective interior signage design solution for Petra Christian University. Data was obtained through observation, documentation, distributing questionnaires to building users and literature review. Data was analysis through descriptive qualitative method with 5 stages (exploration, define, ideate, visualitation, and evaluation) by paying attention to signage parameters. The proposed design solutions include: using university branding as the color to be used, using the shape of the Q building as the basis for the shape of the building’s Q interior, and changing the font to make it easier to read

Abstract

Abstract

Coffee is the third most consumed beverage in the world. According to International Coffee Organization, Indonesian coffee ranks fourth best in the world because of its various and special taste. In past times, coffee is just a beverage to complete your activity, such as reading newspaper, late night activities, watching TV,etc. Nowadays, coffee becomes a trend and used in art. However, there aren’t enough facilities to embrace the creative coffee community, especially in Surabaya. The purpose of this interior design is to provide an interactive and educative  Coffee Community Center interior to increase the sales and potential of local coffee. The design method used is Design Thinking which consist of understanding, observe, point of view, prototype, test and implementation. The design result is a Noesantara Coffee Community Center designed with the concept of “addicted to Noesantara”, which means to attract the visitor so that they become addicted to the place and interested to come back. Using a layout with mixed circulation, where the coffee gallery is used as the center to direct the visitors to another room, such as coffee shop, coffee bath and spa, workshop area, coffee roaster and tasting room, etc to increase the potential of Indonesian local coffee.

Abstract

In recent years, Indonesia has entered a new era in infrastructure, Industry 4.0. This new era brings Indonesia to a digital, connected lifestyle. This is the spark that lights the rising of unicorns such as “Go-Jek”, Tokopedia”, “Traveloka”, and “Bukalapak”. This new lifestyle also brings Indonesia to solve national problems through digital solutions. But in reality, the Indonesian youth is not trained and educated in an efficient enough environment. On this foundation, the designer proposes an Interior Design of a Digital Startup Exhibition and Training Center in Surabaya, a facility built to inspire and train digital startup activist to support the vision of Surabaya as a smarter city. The design use “/inspire” concept, a combination of “/n”, a code for “beginning” in programming language, and “inspire”, the hope and purpose in which this facility is built on.  The designed facilities include a receptionist for registration, café for refreshments, shop/service area to accommodate user’s needs, exhibition area to showcase digital startup’s community creations, co-working area for working, training room for programming education, seminar/workshop room for various activities, and office for employee. The designer hopes to create a facility that can sufficiently represent and inspire digital startup communities into an influential movement as a digital solution for Indonesia.

Abstract

Bojonegoro is a district from East Java which has a Geoparak tourism destination and a lot of local potentials that can be developed. However, there is no place for art culture, culinary, and agrotourism communities, also introduction to the local potential, which makes people only transit the city and not knowing about those local potentials in that city. The purpose of this design is to make a place for all the existing art, culinary, and agrotourism communities by designing a philosophic place as an innovation design to introduce the local potentials of Bojonegoro, and to attract local tourists and international tourists, also a place for education which makes use of natural resources as a local festival place which preserves culture. The method used in this design process is a design thinking development, HPI School of Design Thinking, by adding an implementation method to create innovation and excellence value in a design. The step of design thinking are Understanding, Observation, Point of View, Ideation, Prototype, Test, and Implementation. The result of this design is an art and cultural center of Bojonegoro with Monggo Pinarak concept which applies the legend, art and culture of Bojonegoro. This concept application is also used as a special expression for the visitors to come and apply the ambience through personal experience from the cultural elements.
