Abstract

Sunday, November 29, 2020, the Prosperous Justice Party (Partai Keadilan Sejahtera abbreviated as PKS) held their Fifth National Conference in Bandung and launched its new logo, march and hymn. The logo change is a value transformation proclaimed by PKS, which can be categorized as a company rebranding. This study used a qualitative approach with Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis. The authors tried to study and describe the meaning of the new PKS logo, and how the logo changes as part of the PKS rebranding. The research found that rebranding wise, this change is an evolutionary change, and the changes of the basic shapes and brand color from the dominant black-yellow colored box to the Orange-White colored circle and its meaning constitutes the most significant change, though philosophically, the party values remain maintained. The results concluded that the meaning represented in the PKS new visual logo was changing the image of the party from a more religious and formal one to a more neutral, youthful, fresh and dynamic. As part of the PKS's corporate rebranding, changing the logo is PKS strategy to attract new constituent, especially millennials. PKS has evolved its logo into a more modern, adaptive and organic design.

Abstract

Tempo publications between 23-30 November 2020, raised the issue of corruption in the export of lobster seeds (Bahasa: Benur). Tempo tried to present the figure of  Edhy Prabowo on several covers by using a variety of intriguing visual illustrations, surreal depiction and signs. There is an effort to frame the figure of Edhy Prabowo in the case of fry export, visually as well as textually in the article contents . This study uses a qualitative approach with framing analysis method. The Gamson-Modigliani framing analysis model is used to analyze the main cover line texts contained in the cover illustration. To analyze Visual Framing, Rodriguez-Dimitrova's 4 levels of visual framing model was used. Of the 4 covers studied, Tempo seems to be trying to present its main subject in a denotative way, by using Edhy Prabowo's caricature and fry visuals appeared as the image focus. Abstract subjects such as 'export' are presented connotatively through symbols. Edhy Prabowo's visual framing process using illustrations on the cover of Tempo media looks like a visual story highlights, depicting one chapter after another. First act, Edhy Prabowo as an intellectual actor who has power in the fry export game. Second act, Edhy Prabowo fell into his own toy. Third act, flashback of the scheming of new rules for fry export. The fourth act, disclosure of the characters behind the scenes.

Abstract

The issue of the development of the komodo premium tourist destination went viral because of a tweet on a social media, twitter. The tweet posted a photo of a Komodo dragon and a truck facing each other and there was a narrative questioning the sustainability of the Komodo ecosystem. These photos and narratives were then retweeted and mentioned by various other accounts and the hashtag #savekomodo appeared so that it became a trending topic and went viral. Twitter is a social media medium commonly used by Indonesian people to discuss various topics. Such topics can be framed based on perceptions and even certain account interests. This study uses a qualitative approach with framing analysis method Gamson-Modigliani model to examine how the viewpoints presented by four Twitter account posts frame the development issue of the Komodo National Park. More. The results of the study concluded that the first tweet on twitter actually attracted a response from the audience, who then reacted to the tweet while still carrying the initial tweet. The first tweet becomes the main frame which is then amplified by various reactive tweets that add a new layer of framing. The framing process grows organicly based on the audiences response on the social media network, but still carries the originall message (framing)

Abstract

Komunikasi visual hadir memberikan informasi yang berupa gambar yang dapat dimengerti oleh semua pihak. Gambar tersebut hadir dan tersebar dalam media apapun, salah satunya adalah media cetak seperti majalah. Majalah Tempo hadir sebagai salah satu media cetak obyektif dalam memberikan fakta fakta di lapangan baik buruknya suatu peristiwa yang terjadi. Dalam ilustrasi cover majalah tempo tanggal 17 Oktober 2019, di gambarkan sebuah kritik sosial berwajah jenaka berupa sidang paripurna DPR berhidung panjang dan bermasker putih seperti pinokio dengan judul teks siasat pinokio senayan seperti rekayasa politik dalam penentuan pengesahan sidang. Terdapat makna dalam tanda tanda visual dalam ilustrasi cover majalah Tempo tersebut yang diharapkan dapat mempermudah pembaca untuk mengetahui pesan pesan yang terkandung di dalamnya.
