Abstract

Sumber daya energi terbarukan di Indonesia sangat berpotensi, dimana salah satunya adalah potensi biomassa. Berdasarkan data BPPT-Outlook Energi Indonesia tahun 2017, potensi sumber daya energi biomassa sebesar 32.654 Mwe. Di sisi lain, Negara Indonesia sangat kaya sumber daya alam, salah satunya adalah jambu mete (Anacardium Occidentale), yang kulit biji (cangkang) jambu mente ini menghasilkan limbah dan belum dimanfaatkan secara maksima sebagai produk yang mempunyai nilai ekonomis. Pirolisis merupakan dekomposisi termokimia bahan organic melalui proses pemanasan tanpa atau sedikit oksigen atau pereaksi kimia lainnya, sedangkan viskositas merupakan ukuran untuk menyatakan kekentalan suatu larutan atau fluida. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui temperatur dan jumlah produksi dari minyak, tar dan nilai viskositas (dari minyak dan tar) yang terdapat pada limbah kulit biji jambu mente dengan menggunakan teknologi pirolisis, kenaikan temperature diukur dengan termokopel, dan jumlah produk yang dihasilkan diukur dengan timbangan digital sedangkan nilai viskositasnya diukur dengan viskometer Otswald. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen. Limbah kulit biji jambu mente dipanaskan sampai pada temperatur dimana minyak dan tar mulai keluar atau berproduksi. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa temperatur produksi minyak dari limbah kulit biji jambu mente mulai dari 218-245.50 C sedangkan tarnya mulai dari 245.5-3470 C, dengan jumlah produksi minyak 85 % dan tar 15 %, nilai viskositas untuk minyak 0.9528 cP sedangkan nilai viskositas tar tidak terdeteksi karena sampel melengket di dinding viscometer.

Abstract

Pertambahan sampah non-organik yang tidak dapat diurai oleh alam menimbulkan masalah lingkungan. Salah satu sampah yang perlu penanganan khusus untuk proses penguraiannya adalah limbah ban bekas dimana juga memerlukan lahan untuk pembuangannya. Saat ini, pembakaran menjadi cara yang cepat untuk penanganan sampah ban ini, namun sayangnya, cara ini juga menimbulkan polusi udara dan efek pemanasan global. Oleh karena itu, proses pirolisis yang merupakan proses dekomposisi kimia bahan organik melalui proses pemanasan tanpa atau sedikit melibatkan oksigen dianggap cara yang tepat untuk mengurai limbah ini. Pada penelitian ini, proses pirolisis limbah ban dilakukan dengan variasi suhu 350, 550, dan 750 oC dengan memproduksi bahan bakar arang, gas dan cair tanpa produk samping limbah lagi.

Abstract

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is a raw material that is processed to produce crystal sugar and bioethanol. The process produces sugarcane bagasse. In this study, The liquid-plasma treatment based on microwave plasma in the liquid was used to treat sugarcane bagasse to observe the effect on glucose concentration and gain byproducts. The energy input parameters were varied by 340, 360, and 400 W with irradiation time variations of 1, 3, and 5 minutes. Nelson Somogyi's method was used to determine the percentage of glucose as well as Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Image-J software to characterize the side-product of the samples. The results showed that the glucose concentration reduced around 27.6% - 99.2 % after microwave plasma in-liquid treatment at the energy input of 340 Watt and 360 Watt, respectively, with an irradiation time of 5 minutes. Abstract

Teknologi pembangkitkan plasma dalam cairan dengan memanfaatkan gelombang elektromagnetik 2.45 GHz oven microwave telah dilakukan sebelumnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pembangkitan microwave plasma dalam berbagai sampel cairan seperti cairan rontgen, pure water, air baku PDAM dan air laut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembangkitan plasma dalam berbagai sampel cairan membutuhkan waktu awal pembangkitan sekitar 1-2 detik pada tekanan 6.7 kPa. Karakteristik warna plasma yang dihasilkan dalam cairan rontgen dan air laut adalah sama yakni orange, dan karakteristik warna plasma yang dihasilkan dalam pure water dan air baku PDAM adalah sama yakni pink.

Abstract

Balang Caddi Island is one of the islands in the Pangkajene dan Kepulauan Regency where most of the people work as fishermen. Administratively the island is Mattiro Bintang Subdistrict, Liukang Tuppabiring District. The island is a remote area that often receives less attention. The electrical energy crisis experienced by the people of this island needs to address as soon as possible. With this community service, we are implementing new renewable energy solar cells for lighting residents on Balang Caddi Island. This Solar Cell application will be placed in one of the residents house as a pilot project for the application of new and renewable energy. The community will also receive training on how to maintain the tool so that the community will independently maintain the sustainability of the program in the future. A 100 wp Solar Cell with a 216 Wh battery is installed to power 2 pieces of 7 watt lamps, 2 pieces of 9 watt lamps, 30 watt fan and 50 watt TV. The lamp is operated at night for 6 hours with a total power consumption of 192 watts. Fans and TVs are operated during the daytime only by utilizing direct solar energy converted from the DC current of the solar cell to the AC current using a 300 watt inverter. On a daily basis, benefits are obtained in the form of free electricity of 300-400 watts per day to meet the needs of the residents of Balang Caddi island. This activity have succeeded in transforming the residents Balang Caddi island. This can be seen from the results of the Pre-test and Post-test which showed an increase in knowledge from really don't know 26.4% to very knowledgeable 83.3%, an increase in skills from really don't know 87.5% to very capable 94.6% and an increase in attitude from really don't know 20% to really know 100%.

Abstract

Turungan Bontojai Village is one of the areas in Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency (Pangkep) where the majority of the people work as fish farmers or shrimp farmers. Administratively, this area is Sibatua Village, Pangkajene District. This village is an area close to the sea where infrastructure does not receive much attention, especially the electricity network. The electrical energy crisis experienced by the people of this village area needs a solution. In this community service activity, renewable energy from solar cells have been planned and applied to light the residents' ponds in Turungan Bontojaidengan Village. Lighting application with solar panels that will be placed in one of the residents' ponds as a pilot project for the application of the renewable energy. The community also received training on how to care for the equipment so that the community could independently maintain the sustainability of the program in the future. A 100 wp solar cell with a 432 Wh battery is installed to power 4 unit 7 watt light bulb with an additional DC to AC inverter which can be used to power other electronic equipment. The lights are operated at night for 12 hours with a total power consumption of 336 watts per day. Electronic devices are operated during the day by utilizing direct solar energy which is converted from DC current from solar cells to AC current using a 300 watt inverter. On a daily basis, benefits are obtained in the form of free electricity of 400 watts per day to meet the pond needs of the residents of Turungan Bontojai village. This activity has succeeded in increasing citizens' understanding as seen from the results of data processing with SPSS in the Pre-test and Post-test which shows an increase in understanding with a Mean value of 5.35 (pre-test) to 14.55 (post-test). The success of the activity was measured by a questionnaire on participant satisfaction with the community service activities carried out and the results showed that 90% were satisfied with the implementation of the activity.
