Abstract

Abstract

Milkfish nugget is one of nutritionally dense processed with a practical presentation and generally liked by children. To enrich the nutritional content, the manufacture of nuggets is modified with the addition of vegetables including carrots and sweet corn. The modification of milkfish nuggets with carrots and sweet corn can be used as additional food for underweight toddlers This study aims to determine the effect of milkfish nuggets formulation with carrots and sweet corn modification. This research was a quasi-experiment with one group pre and post-test design. The sample was 37 with the total sampling method. The data was collected by observing the enhancement of toddlers’ nutritional status during 10 days. Data were analyzed by using a paired T-test with a  95% confidence interval. The results showed the bodyweight average increase after giving milkfish nuggets was 800 grams with an enhancement in nutritional from the average Z-score value of -1,95 through the bodyweight for age indicator. The milkfish nuggets formulation had a significant effect in enhancing the nutritional status of underweight toddlers (p-value 0,002). It is necessary to improve the quality of health programs especially regarding food intake for underweight toddlers to achieve the quality of the human development index.

Abstract

The use of mangroves as natural dyes has the potential to reduce environmental pollution and provide beautiful motifs in addition to providing natural color nuances. This community service activity aims to form a fishing group for the Kuala Langsa coastal area to process mangrove skin waste into batik dyes. The problems faced by partners are: (1) Partners do not have knowledge and skills in utilizing mangrove skins as batik dyes; (2) There is a need for activities that can support the community's economy in the coastal area of Kuala Langsa. (3) There is no public knowledge in marketing the batik they produce. The team developed a number of solutions to help partners successfully introduce, develop and preserve batik culture, using mangrove skins, national cultural heritage and commodities to improve the family's economic standard. They are also given basic skills and training in making batik so that it has a pattern and a function and is sold at a higher price. Forms of activities that will be carried out in the form of socialization and training. The form of training provided is by accompanying partners starting from making batik dyes from mangrove skin waste, batik procedures, and marketing strategies. After participating in this community service activities, it is hoped that the Kuala Langsa fisherman group will have the expertise and skills in producing batik as Kuala Langsa's superior product.

Abstract

The subjects in this research were autistic individuals. Based on observations, it is known that individuals experience problems in non-verbal communication that result in individuals being unable to convey or communicate an activity they want to others. The purpose of this research is to determine the improvement of communication skills of autistic children by applying Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) through Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) media. The research method used is experimental research with the type of Single Subject Research (SSR) research with the design A1-B-A2. Data collection techniques in this study used tests, while the target behavior in this study was 1) able to show pictures of daily activities. The results showed that the application of Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) through Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) media can improve the communication skills of autistic children. The increase is indicated by the mean level value that increases in each phase through percentage measurement. Baseline phase 1 (A1) obtained a mean level of 28%, intervention phase (B) obtained a mean level of 47%, and baseline phase 2 (A2) obtained a mean level of 46%. From the acquisition of the mean level, it can be seen that the mean level shown in baseline 1 with baseline 2 has increased significantly. This shows that the application of Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) through Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) media can improve the communication skills of autistic children
