Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA Biologi materi sistem pencernaan manusia dengan menerapkan LKS model pembelajaran berbasis masalah pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tondano. Kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam berpikir, memahami dan memecahkan masalah mengakibatkan rendahnya hasil belajar dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas, dengan subjek penelitian yaitu 20 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tondano. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas melalui dua siklus pembelajaran dengan empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Data dianalisis dengan rumus . Hasil analisis data menunjukkan ada peningkatan hasil belajar dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi melalui penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Peningkatan hasil belajar dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dapat dilihat dari bertambahnya persentase hasil belajar dari setiap siklus, ketuntasan klasikal setiap siklus dan pertambahan jumlah siswa yang memenuhi Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal. Peningkatan persentase hasil belajar siklus I sampai siklus II adalah dari 45% (siklus I) menjadi 95% pada siklus II. Jumlah siswa yang memenuhi Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal yaitu pada siklus I berjumlah 9 siswa menjadi 19  siswa pada siklus II. Selisih peningkatan persentase hasil belajar dari siklus I ke siklus II sebesar 50%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA Biologi serta kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa.

Abstract

Limitations of innovation in learning can cause problems, including the low critical thinking skills of students. Critical thinking skills are important in problem-solving activities, innovating, and being able to make decisions. Students’ critical thinking skills can be improved through the inquiry learning model that focuses on finding new information or knowledge. This study aims to analyze the effect of the inquiry learning model on students’ critical thinking skills using quasi-experimental research with research on the static-group comparison design. Data were collected from pre-research data (to determine the initial ability of students’ critical thinking skills before treatment), pre-test, and post-test based on indicators of critical thinking skills. Statistical data were analyzed using prerequisite tests of normality test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test), paired sample t-test (if the data is normal), homogeneity test (Levene’s test), and the difference of critical thinking skills were measured using the independent sample t-test (if the data is normal) with SPSS. The results of the data analysis showed significant differences in the critical thinking skills of students participating in the inquiry learning model and conventional learning.

Abstract

The ability to solve problems is a skill that students should have in the 21st century to support better life activities. Observations on learning activities found that students were still relatively passive in learning activities, lacked confidence in conveying ideas, lacked the motivation to learn, and had no more interaction between students during learning, which affected low problem-solving abilities. It is in line with the evidence obtained through the acquisition of pre-research data where the results of problem-solving abilities include indicators of understanding problems with an average score of 55.63, indicators of preparing a settlement plan with an average value of 43.78, indicators of implementing a settlement plan with an average value of 50.37, and the indicator checks back with an average value of 46.53. Low problem-solving abilities can impact the quality of life of students who are less able to compete for jobs in the future. Increasing student solving needs to be considered so that from these problems, it is necessary to conduct classroom action research using the inquiry learning model to improve student problem-solving abilities, where this model has learning steps in guiding students to study in a directed manner and be able to solve problems. The research sample was 21 undergraduate students in Biology Education program. They obtained data through student activity questionnaires, student responses to learning models, model teacher activity questionnaires, and the results of problem-solving skills through giving test questions in the form of essays. This classroom action research was conducted in 3 learning cycles, with an average score between cycle I of 45.96%, cycle II of 94.78%, and cycle III of 95.26%. The acquisition of the average value shows an increase in problem-solving results between cycles I and II, cycles I and III. Testing the effectiveness of the learning model was carried out by the N-Gain test of 86.63% with the interpretation of "effective," and the distribution of the N-Gain score of 0.86 was greater than g > 0.7 with the "high" category. Obtaining these data can be concluded that the inquiry learning model effectively improves students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate students' interest in learning through the project-based learning model. The study was conducted at the Department of Biology Education and the Department of Science Education at Manado State University. The research method employed was quantitative descriptive. The subjects consisted of 20 students participating in project-based learning in the instructional media course. Data were collected through a learning interest questionnaire distributed at the end of the semester and measured using a Likert scale. The results indicated that for 12 statement items, the percentage fell within the range of 81%-100%, indicating a high level of interest among all respondents. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the project-based learning model effectively stimulates and optimizes students' learning interest.

Abstract

Di desa Kolongan kecamatan Talawaan kabupaten Minahasa Utara masyarakatnya pernah terkonfirmasi Covid – 19 varian Delta berjumlah 30 orang. Terpaparnya masyarakat oleh Covid disebabkan karena beraktivitas di luar rumah dengan tidak disiplin dalam memperhatikan protokol kesehatan. Dalam rangka penanganan Covid – 19 masyarakat dapat menggunakan tanaman herbal untuk meningkatkan imunitas tubuh. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 10 s/d 27 Oktober tahun 2021.Tujuan pengabdian pada masyarakat adalah untuk mensosialisasikan langsung penggunaan tanaman herbal dalam bentuk ramuan atau ekstrak, tanaman yang terdapat di pekarangan rumah dan tanaman yang terdapat di perkebunan. Metode pelaksanaan, penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan sumber data diperoleh secara langsung sebagai data primer dan data informasi dari masyarakat dalam pertemuan, meliputi; 1) interaksi dengan mitra dalam hal ini pemerintah dan masyarakat desa Kolongan, menyampaikan maksud dan tujuan pengabdian pada masyarakat (PKM), 2) melakukan observasi mengidentifikasi tanaman yang berpotensi positif tanaman herbal sebagai imunitas tubuh, 3) mengimplementasikan proses pembuatan ramuan tanaman herbal yang ada di desa Kolongan, 4) memberikan angket kepuasan mitra terhadap kegiatan pkm dan tanggapan pengetahuan mitra terhadap tanaman herbal. Jumlah peserta responden 41 orang. Hasil untuk a) kepuasan mitra dengan indikator pkm memberi dampak positif bagi mitra, sangat setuju sebanyak 21 orang (51.22%) dan setuju sebanyak 20 orang (48.78%). Menambah wawasan dalam membuat ramuan tanaman herbal, sangat setuju sebanyak 12 orang (29.26%) dan setuju sebanyak 29 orang (70.74%). Masyarakat tahu jenis tanaman yang meningkatkan imunitas tubuh, sangat setuju sebanyak 14 orang (34.15%) dan setuju sebanyak 27 orang (65.85%), b) tanggapan mitra terhadap pengetahuan tanaman herbal, pernah mengenal sebanyak 12 orang (29.26%) dan tidak mengenal sebanyak 29 orang (70.74%). Pernah menggunakan tanaman herbal di masa pandemi Covid – 19 sebanyak 10 orang (24.39%) dan tidak pernah menggunakan sebanyak 31 orang (75.61%). Lama penggunaan tanaman herbal di masa pandemi Covid – 19 sebanyak 8 orang digunakan selama 1 minggu. Bagian tanaman herbal yang digunakan, bagian tanaman biji sebanyak 4 orang (9,75%) dan daun sebanyak 3 orang (7.31%), c) tanaman herbal yang teridentifikasi sebanyak 23 jenis.
