Abstract

Prayitno MB, Dunand H, Sulistyani DP. 2019. The influence of urea fertilizer and zeolite minerals on carbon dioxide (Co2) emissions on the rice plant (Oryza Sativa L.) in peat soil. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal 2019, Palembang 4-5 September 2019. pp. 437-444. Palembang: Unsri Press. This study aims to determine the effect of nitrogen and zeolite fertilization on CO2 emissions in paddy rice plantation in peat soils. The study was conducted in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya, South Sumatra Province, from September to December 2018. The results of this study indicate that the treatment of nitrogen fertilizer produces the highest CO2 emissions in the production phase of the U3 treatment (average emissions: 3.80 mg/plant/day) and the lowest emissions in the vegetative phase (age 55 days) on the U2 treatment (average emissions: 2.41 mg/plant/day). The zeolite treatment produced the highest CO2 emissions in the production phase of Z1 treatment (average emission: 3.82 mg/plant/day) and the lowest emissions in the generative phase (age 65 days) on treatment Z1 (average emission: 2.43 mg/plant/day). The highest CO2 emission from the combination of nitrogen and zeolite fertilizers is in the rice production phase U2Z3 (3.95 mg/plant/day) and the lowest CO2 emission at 55 days on treatment U2Z1 (2.22 mg/plant/day).Keywords: peat soils, CO2 emissions, paddy rice, urea fertilizer, zeolite minerals

Abstract

Prayitno et al, 2019.  The Effect of Ground Water Level and Nitrogen Fertilizers on the Plant Carbon Emission on Peat Soil. pp. 225-235.The aimed of study was to determine the increase of CO2 gas emissions in rice plants on peat soil which is influenced by ground water level and nitrogen fertilizer and to know the type of treatments that affects the highest CO2 gas emissions. The study was conducted at the green house, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya. The results showed that in the 5 cm water level from the soil surface and the application of nitrogen fertilizer of 250 kg/ha had significant effect on CO2 emission. The highest CO2 gas emissions during the growth period is generated by the water treatment of -5 cm from the soil surface and the application of nitrogen fertilizer of 250 kg/ha, about 2619.54 mg. The lowest CO2 emissions during the growth period were generated by the treatment of water level +5 cm from the soil surface and the application of fertilizer of 125 kg/ha, were about 348.30 mg. Total CO2 emissions during one growth period is 39699.15 mg. The results of this study can be as a recommendation for rice planting activities.

Abstract

Prayitno MB, Lisa E, Sulistyani DP.  2022. The effect of dolomite lime and urea fertilizer treatments on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in rice plants (Oryza sativa L.) on Peat Soil. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 234-242.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The study was conducted to determine the effect of treatment of dolomite lime and urea fertilizer on CO2 gas emissions in rice plants on peat soil. The research was carried out at the ATC Greenhouse, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, from March to June 2020.The research design was a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (RALF) with two factors, namely dolomite lime and urea fertilizer.Observations of gas emissions were carried out in various vegetative, generative and production phases. Gas capture is carried out with a closed chamber and then inserted into a vacuum tube. Carbon dioxide gas analysis was carried out in the laboratory of the Agricultural Environmental Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture, Pati, Central Java. The results showed that the increase in urea fertilizer application decreased CO2 gas emissions at 30 DAP, 84 DAP and 100 DAP, but on the contrary there was an increase at 70 DAP. The lowest CO2 emissions in the vegetative, primordia, generative and production phases were U2D0, U2D2, U0D2 and U1D2, respectively.
