“We Need Supervisors”: Problematic Implementationof Curriculum 2013 among Mathematics Teachers Setiawan Setiawan; Khairiani Idris

Abstract

The development of the curriculum is a dynamic process which aims to comply with the evolvement of knowledge and technology. However, the implementations of the reformed curriculum have been acknowledged to raise various issues. Likewise, among the issues related to the implementation of the Curriculum 2013, known as K13, in Indonesia was teachers’ difficulties, including mathematics teachers. This study aimed at investigating and describing the difficulties faced by junior high school mathematics teachers in implementing K13. The study applied a mixed-method approach involving 66 from a total of 78 junior high school mathematics teachers in Lhokseumawe, Aceh Province, as the study sample. The findings showed that 50%-60% participants encountering difficulties in components of training and socialization of K13, lesson planning, learning activities, and assessment and reporting the learning outcome. Although 93.94% teachers have taken the K13 training, only 56.45% of them sometimes implemented the curriculum in the classrooms. Additionally, the main resource of the difficulties was the ineffectiveness of training and socialization of K13 the teachers had attended. The teachers expected that there would be a learning community or forum as the follow-up action of the training, which can supervise the implementation of K13 in their classes. The directions for further research to improve curriculum implementation were discussed.

Abstract

Kesiapan kerja mahasiswa sangat tergantung pada kompetensi diri dan locus of control yang dimilikinya. Kompetensi diri dan locus of control dapat dikembangkan atau dilatih dengan cara menjadikan mahasiswa lebih aktif dalam kegiatan kampus baik akademik maupun kegiatan organisasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh kompetensi diri terhadap kesiapan kerja mahasiswa IAIN Lhokseumawe. 2) Untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh locus of control terhadap kesiapan kerja mahasiswa IAIN Lhokseumawe. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 257 responden mahasiswa dan 109 responden alumni sebagai sampel penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: Tidak terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan kompetensi diri, locus of control terhadap kesiapan kerja mahasiswa IAIN Lhokseumawe. Mahasiswa yang orientasi loc internal lebih siap kerja dibandingkan dengan mahasiswa yang orientasi loc eksternal. Peran lembaga IAIN terhadap kompetensi diri mahasiswa dalam menghadapi kesiapan kerja belum maksimal dan Lembaga IAIN Lhokseumawe perlu berbenah diri agar lulusannya nanti siap bekerja yang salah satunya merevisi matakuliah sesuai dengan perubahan zaman, membentuk wadah untuk pengembangan bakat dan minat mahasiswa dan menjadikan kewirausahaan sebagai matakuliah lintas fakultas.

Abstract

Memahami konsep dalam matematika merupakan keterampilan dasar yang harus dimiliki setiap peserta didik untuk mampu berpartisipasi dengan baik dalam proses belajar mengajar, namun yang sering terjdi saat ini pemahaman kosep matematis peserta didik di Indonesia cenderung rendah. Hal tersebut telah dibuktikan oleh beberapa penelitian, bahkan diperkuat oleh temuan dari The Trends of Mathematical and Science Studies. Penelitian ini merupakan kajian terkait analisis kapasitas siswa untuk memahami konsep matematika. Penelitian ini berorientasi pada penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif, pada penelitian ini penulis bermaksud menggambarkan atau mendeskripsikan perihal kemampuan peserta didik dalam pemahaman konsep matematis khususnya pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar. Adapun jenis data diperoleh dari observasi langsung peneliti di lapangan melalui tes soal yang telah diberikan skor pada setiap soal dan wawancara yang diukur dengan beberapa indikator pemahaman konsep matematis. Sedangkan data sekunder berasal dari data yang ada dan memiliki keterkaitan dengan masalah temuan penelitian yang diperoleh melalui penelitian tingkat perpustakaan. Hasil analisis diketahui bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep matematika khususnya yang berkaitan pada materi matematika bangun ruang sisi datar masih sangat rendah, terbukti dengan nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh 50% siswa yaitu 62,65.Understanding concepts in mathematics is a basic skill that must be possessed by every student to be able to participate properly in the teaching and learning process, but what often happens nowadays is that students' understanding of mathematical concepts in Indonesia tends to be low. This has been proven by several studies, even strengthened by findings from The Trends of Mathematical and Science Studies. This research is a study related to the analysis of students' capacity to understand mathematical concepts. This research is oriented to qualitative research with descriptive methods, in this study the author intends to describe or describe the ability of students to understand mathematical concepts, especially in the material of flat side space. The types of data obtained from direct observations of researchers in the field through test questions that have been given a score on each question and interviews are measured by several indicators of understanding mathematical concepts. While secondary data comes from existing data and has a relationship with the problem of research findings obtained through library level research. The results of the analysis show that the ability of students to understand mathematical concepts, especially those related to the mathematical material of geometrical shapes, is still very low, as evidenced by the average value obtained by 50% of students, namely 62.65.
