The strategy in teaching is very important for the teacher in teaching writing, especially in teaching writing explanation text. The teacher must have a variety in teaching to help the students study successfully. This research was intended to find out the teaching strategies used by the teachers at SMAN 10 Garut. The purposes of this research are to identify some of the teachers' strategies and techniques used in teaching writing explanations. The data needed is gained through a sample consisting of 4 SMAN 10 Garut (Senior High School) teachers. The teachers are provided with 18 questionnaires. The responses are in the form of Yes, Sometimes, and No to the statements given. Then, the result is formulated by using: = f × 100%. This research used the descriptive method and employed qualitative data. The writer observed the teachers in teaching writing explanation text and using teachers' observation form also. Based on the findings, (61. 11%) of the respondents perceive that various teaching strategies were needed for the students. Based on the writer's interpretation, it is suggested that the teachers practice specific strategies for teaching writing explanations.

This research investigated the effect of extensive reading on students reading comprehension. The writer used the quantitative as the researched method and the writer used the queasy experiment as the research design. For collecting the data the writer gave the test for experimental and control group. For experimental group the writer used the extensive reading method as the reading class room and the other method for the control group. After the post- test gave to both classes, the writer analyzed it by using SPPS 20 program to found out the improvement on student reading comprehension after extensive reading implied on reading classroom. Based on the finding and discussion. It can be concluded that hypothesis was accepted. It meant that there was effect on extensive reading on student reading comprehension. Based on the resulted of this research. The writer suggested the teacher to used extensive reading on reading process to improved student reading comprehension.

In using language, there are a lot of varieties in represent the language. One of them is code mixing. Indonesian people use code mixing not only in speaking but also in written text. One of written text contains code mixing is novel Takbir Cinta Zahrana. In the novel, the authot represent the characters use code mixing in their daily conversation. They mixes Bahasa and Javanese language. This paper is conducted to get some information about code mixing, especially in novel Takbir Cinta Zahrana The first one is about the level of code mixing, the second one is about factor of code mixing, and the last one is about reason why the characters in the novel using code mixing. The research used qualitative research. The data were collected from the contain of the novel. After doing analyzing, the researcher roll out some facts. The level of code mixing in the novel is dominated by word level, factors of using code mixing are popular term, speaker and speaker character, prestigious factor, and domicile and time of conversation. The last fact is 3 reasons of using code mixng in novel Takbir Cinta Zahrana. They are social roles and relationships of participants; situational factors: discourse topic and language allocation; message-intrinsic considerations; and language attitudes including social dominance and security.

The Effect of Speed Reading on Students’ Reading Comprehension Dadan Hidayat

This research investigated the effect of speed reading on students’ reading comprehension. The writer used quantitative as the research method and used the quasi experiment as a research design. The writer used experimental class to imply the speed reading method and control group for the other technique in teaching reading. For collecting the data the writer gave the pre – test for experimental and control group, then administrated the treatment for experiment class , finally the researcher administrated the post – test to find out the improvement of speed reading method for the student . Based on the writer interpretation it is concluded that hypothesis is accepted.it is suggested that the teacher should imply the speed reading method in teaching reading because research finding proved that speed reading gave more improvement in reading comprehension that the other technique in teaching reading and the speed reading method was more interesting than conventional method.

The objective of this paper is to know about popular culture especially type of popular culture which occurred in today society and the moral value. This analysis is done based on the source of movie is Confessions of a Shopaholic which focuses on main character only. The writer uses descriptive qualitative method for this analysis which focused on Brummetâ€™s theory of popular culture as the main subject. The result indicates that there are two types of popular culture based on Brummetâ€™s category, there are top down and bottom up. First is top down, which consist of eight points: branded-product, fancy store, shopaholic, credit card, look, property, taxi, and gadget. Second is bottom up, which consists of two points, there are: boot and coat. The writer considered that the most dominant type from those two types and ten points is top down. While for the moral values from the movie, the writes takes six points there are: confront the expenditure, do not let things define you, cost and worth are very different things, credit cards are not magic wands, lying is not a good idea, and everything happens for a reason.Â Â Keyword: Main Character, Movie, Popular Culture.Â

The education system implemented in Indonesia in the new normal era underwent changes. Prevention of transmission of the corona virus by social distancing to avoid potential crowds is the main reason children have to go to school from home. Changes that occur include education which was originally face-to-face to online or online only. Another thing that has changed is the adjusted learning targets and also the adaptation of the curriculum used. education is required to adapt immediately. Education must not stop just because of the impact of the spread of Covid-19. One of the online learning media that is currently developing and starting to be used is Google Classroom. Google Classroom is a special application that is used for online learning carried out remotely and can be used anywhere. In using the Google Classroom application, it contains services for users such as being able to send assignments in the form of documents, photos, and learning videos to students related to the material discussed. This research aimed to know the benefits of google classroom and how the teachers and students use google classroom The methods used in this survey were library surveys and interviews. Arikunt discovers that literary studies in research are a way to collect data by finding information from books, newspapers, magazines, and other literature to build a theoretical foundation. I did (Arikunto, 2006)In addition to this opinion, literary research is a data collection technique by researching books, literature, records, and reports related to solved problems (Nazir, 1988)Data and information are available from academic books, research reports, academic papers, sets of rules, encyclopedias, diplomas, and other written and digital sources. Abstract- This research aimed to understand the categories of code mixing in Sarah Sechan programme. This research uses qualitative descriptive since the data collected were collected by watching the TV program. The data of this study was the sentences that contained code mixing within the extent of words, phrases, clauses or sentences which were found in utterances between the hosts and guests in Sarah Sechan program on Net TV. The source of information was Sarah Sechan talk show. The technique of data collection applies during this study was documentary technique and therefore, the instrument of information collection was recorder. The data was collected by downloading the video Sarah Sechan programme through official channel. Then, she transcribed each of the host and the guests’ utterances while they talked, commented, interacted and responded one another. After doing analyzing, the researcher roll out some facts. This type of insertion and external code mixing are dominant for this episode. Key words: Code Mixing, Sociolinguistic, Sarah Sechan Talk Show Program

Abstract :This study aimed to see how the Zoom Application can affect students' speaking skills during online learning during the pandemic covid-19. The experimental research method was used in this study. This action research started with an observation in which the researcher The subject was a group of 30 third-semester students from the University Bina Sarana Informatika in the academic year 2020-2021. This study used some instruments as observation to collect data, which provides complete concern to the research object of the sense, which aims to explain the situation in-class activities, individual involvement in some activities, and the relationship between situation, activity, and individual. Documentation is used to obtain explicit information and to administer a test in the form of a multiple-choice question. Data was collected and analyzed in qualitative and quantitative ways to explain the results of observations and tests. In the result,Â the researcher find out the average score of the studentsâ€Ÿ speaking test was 59.1 from 30 students. Later on, the average score for speaking in Post-Test I was 79.2, and Post-Test II was 85.7. t could be concluded that using a zoom application can affect speaking ability significantly[u1]Â Â [u1]Abstact has been revised based on the request. This study aims to see the improving students' reading comprehension through intensive reading for college students. The quantitative method was applied by the writer for this research since the writer required the data to be examined using a statistically oriented method, specifically statistics. The writer then used the quantitative research method to administer the test for this study, and the data was evaluated by assessing the relationship between variables For experimental research, the writer used the quasi-experiment because quasi suited to look at the effect of an educational intervention, such as a school improvement program, a project to improve a specific element (such as an anti-bullying program), or a professional development programed. intensive reading improves students' reading comprehension. It was demonstrated by the student's grade. The mean post-test pre-test score, in addition to the student's enthusiasm during the observation of the reading process, when intense reading is implied in the class, indicates that intensive reading will assist the teacher in increasing students' reading comprehension
