Abstract

The aim of the study was to produce teaching material as a learning module for teachers, in order to develop basic science process skill for hearing impairments students. Science process skills are an important aspect in learning science. Teachers need teaching materials as a source of relevant knowledge and skills in order to implement science learning especially in developing science process skills. For this reason, a specific module was developed for teachers to teach science process skills through an inquiry approach for hearing impairments students. Specific aim of the study was to examine the feasibility of the module as a product being developed. This study used the method of Research & Development. The subjects of the study were classroom teachers and fifth grade of hearing impairments students. An instrument for product validation testing was developed and given to relevant experts. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the expert validation test showed that the module has a feasibility level of 87%, which categorized as a very feasible product.

Abstract

Academic services is essential to improve the quality of higher education. The quality of the services can be determined from the students’ point of view. This research was conducted in the Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education, Sate University of Jakarta, from August to November 2012. The purposes of the study are to determine and describe student satisfaction on the academic services. The study included three aspects of services, i.e: (1) services related to teaching and supervising the students, (2) services related to academic administration, and (3) services related to supporting facilities The samples were 70 students chosen by random sampling from the population of second and third year students in the department. The results of the study show that students’ satisfaction on the services related to teaching and supervising is ranged from satisfied to very satisfied. Students’ satisfaction on the services of academic administration is also ranged from satisfied to very satisfied. Students’ satisfaction on supporting facilities isranged from quite satisfied to satisfied. Among the three aspects of service, supporting facilities has the lowest score. The study then generally implies that the Department of Education for Special Need, needs to improve some aspects of services especially suporting facilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this classroom action research was to improve the reading comprehension of students with hearing impairments through the application of Maternal Reflective Methods (MMR) in the learning activity. Based on the results of observations and initial tests on students with hearing impairment in grade 4 of school for students with disabilities, it is evident that students reading comprehension skills need to be improved further. The Maternal Reflective Method is utilized to improve reading comprehension for students with hearing impairments. The research participants consisted of a male and three females with hearing impairment students. The research was held in two cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data were obtained through classroom observation, reading comprehension tests, and supplementary documents. The results showed that the utilization of the Maternal Reflective Method in learning activity could significantly improve reading comprehension for students with hearing impairments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the receptive language shown by autism-deaf students. The subject in this study was an autism-deaf student at SLB Kembar Karya Pembangunan II. The research method used in this research is a case study with a qualitative research approach. The data was collected by observing, interviewing and documenting further data analysis in the field using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the autistic-deaf students showed several receptive languages ​​that they had. The results shown are being able to match pictures, knowing nouns, being able to group colors and being able to follow instructions. These results indicate that autism-deaf students have receptive language and can develop language skills such as receptive and expressive language. Therefore, parents and teachers need to know the needs and abilities of autism-deaf students so that they can design appropriate activities and provide appropriate teaching and activities so that autistic-deaf students can develop receptive language skills.

Abstract

Pembelajaran sains belum terlaksana dengan optimal di TK. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah belum tersedianya media pembelajaran yang dapat memfasilitasi anak untuk belajar sains. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memperoleh data hasil analisis kebutuhan yang merupakan acuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran sains yaitu cerita sains bergambar terintegrasi kearifan lokal berbasis teknologi untuk anak usia dini.   Penelitian ini merupakan preliminary research yang merupakan bagian dari penelitian Research and Development model ADDIE, yakni fase analisis.  Penelitian pada fase analisis ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, yakni dengan melakukan analisis kebutuhan yang menjadi dasar pengembangan produk berupa cerita sains berbasis budaya lokal.  Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara dan analisis dokumen berupa kurikulum.  Subyek penelitian ini adalah anak TK Al-Huffazh. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh hasil analisis peserta didik, analisis kurikulum, dan anilisis pembelajaran sains.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi masih rendahnya keterampilan proses sains pada anak di RA Bakti Ibu Bukitsari Jambi. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui bagaimana efektifitas pemakaian metode inkuiri terhadap keterampilan proses sains melalui sifat air. Treatment dilakukan pada dua kelas yang berbeda, tetapi dengan jumlah anak yang sama sebanyak 10 disetiap kelas baik B1 atau B2. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen pernyataan yang berupa indikator-indikator sebanyak 7 butir item, dengan menggunakan tes perbuatan, yang mengembangkan keterampilan proses sains anak yaitu: aspek mengamati (observation), aspek mengelompokkan (classifying), aspek mengukur (measuring), aspek memprediksi (predicting), dan mengkomunikasikan (communicating). Sedangkan dalam proses menganalisis data menggunakan pengujian normalitas, homogenitas dan hipotesis yang dilanjutkan dengan perhitungan effect size. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama 8 kali pertmuan yang diperoleh hasil kegiatan rata-rata pre-test serta post-test kelas eksperimen 12,4  serta 17,3 sedangkan kelas kontrol 10,1 dan 13,0 serta memiliki pengaruh 1,25. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode inkuiri terhadap perkembangan keterampilan proses sains anak sangat efektif digunakan di RA Bakti Ibu Bukitsari Jambi

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan memvalidasi buku panduan model inovasi pembelajaran terintegrasi lingkungan dalam pembelajaran pengembangan diri siswa hambatan intelektual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research Development. Lokasi penelitian di Sekolah Luar Biasa/SLB Negeri 2 Jagakarsa Jakarta Selatan. Sasaran penelitian yaitu guru SLB dan peserta didik hambatan intelektual. Panduan terdiri dari dua bab yaitu Pendahuluan dan Perangkat pembelajaran. Perangkat pembelajaran terdiri atas tiga bahan ajar yaitu lingkungan sekitar rumahku, kebersihan rumahku, dan keterampilan membuat keset serta evaluasi. Bahan ajar disajikan melalui ilustrasi gambar sesuai dengan materi. Inovasi terletak pada bagian isi yaitu adanya pengintegrasian dengan lingkungan. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli, Buku Panduan Perangkat Pembelajaran Terintegrasi Lingkungan dalam Pembelajaran Pengembangan Diri Hambatan intelektual mendapatkan nilai dari ahli hambatan intelektual sebesar 90% dengan kategori sangat layak, ahli desain instruksional sebesar 85% dengan kategori sangat layak, ahli materi sebesar 90% dengan kategori sangat layak, dan ahli materi pendidikan lingkungan sebesar 83,5% dengan kategori sangat layak. Kesimpulannya bahwa Buku Panduan Perangkat Pembelajaran Terintegrasi Lingkungan dalam Pembelajaran Pengembangan Diri Hambatan intelektual dinyatakan sangat layak untuk digunakan dalam penerapan pembelajaran pengembangan diri hambatan intelektual. Penelitian ini berimplikasi terhadap peningkatan kompetensi guru SLB dalam memberikan pelayanan pendidikan yang dapat memberdayakan peserta didik hambatan intelektual.
