Abstract

Al-Ghazali (1058-1111) is Sunni sufi representing Islamic mysticism and Ibnu Arabi (1165-1240) represents philosophical Sufism. Al- Ghazali’s concept of Gnosis (knowing God) is based on the Quran and Hadith which is similar to its predecessor, al asy’ari. In contrast, Ibnu Arabi’s concept of Gnosis is based on Greek philosophy and the school of Bathiniyah (Syiah). The fundamental difference between the two scholars is that Al-Ghazali is consistent with classical model of epistemological interpretation. He is very cautious in preventing understanding Islam (the sunni view) especially on aqidah (faith) from polytheism (musyrik) or infidelity (kafir). Meanwhile, Ibnu Arabi explores a variety of sources: Greek philosophy, school of shi’i Bathiniyah, and other sources with contempory interpretation paradigms whose characteristics are pluralistic, multicultural and universal, and gives more priority to welfare and justice. Even though the paradigm used by Al-Ghazali differs from the one employed by I bnu Arabi,they agree in some points. There are similarities in their paradigms and understandings. Al- Ghazali even justifies the righteousness of paradigm deployed by Ibnu arabi. Reflections of the two scholars’ paradigms bear the main principles of mysticism. Al-Ghazali develops it with tahalli, takhalli, and tajalli, while Ibnu Arabi in addition to the three of Al Ghazali develops it with the teaching of wahdatul wujud.

Abstract

Ad-Dûdah wats-Tsu‘bân ‘worm and snake’ is an arabic play which represents the condition of Egypt society in conquering French imperialism. So the ideas of arrousing this play is due to the confusion, disruption, and internal and vertical conflicts within Egyptians. They made such a reaction because they couldn’t find a leader who could help and protect them. Therefore, the appearance of Sulaiman Al-Jausaqi was thought as a figure who can calm them down. He was a religious man who concerned much on the problems of the society. This kind of hero was the one who successively made a strategy to fight against the French imperialism to the end of his dead as Syahid. Besides, a more alive scene and coherence of this play can be seen as in another heroic character from France, Napoleon Bonaparte. Key words: konflik internal dan vertikal, imperialisme, syahid, dan koherenitas.

Abstract

Sunan Kalijaga is a very creative figure in preaching for the spread of Islam. One of the media utilized by Sunan Kalijaga in preaching is to show wayang kulit. Wayang kulit at that time is very popular by rural communities or urban communities. For that, the mission carried out by Sunan Kalijaga crowded by the visitors and they want to convert to Islam. He argues that in preaching the most important is the quantity first, while the quality for a while has not worked. Thus, wayang kulit is one of the dakwah media that is powerful enough to attract people so that they flock to Islam.

Abstract

Cerita pendek (al-qish-shatul-qashîrah) berjudul ?K?nat Hiyal-Adh??f? karya Nawal El Sa?dawi berisi keresahan, kesedihan, dan tekanan-tekanan psikologis yang dialami oleh masya-rakat, khususnya para perempuan Arab karena adanya budaya tes keperawanan yang dipandang sebagai aib. Dengan demikian, masalah yang menjadi fokus penelitian ini adalah bagaimanakah kondisi psikologis para tokoh dalam cerpen ?K?nat Hiyal-Adh??f?? Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengungkap kondisi psikologis para tokoh dalam cerpen tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjuk-kan bahwa para tokoh (Mempelai Laki-Laki, Mempelai Perempuan, Ibu Mempelai Laki-Laki, dan Ayah Mempelai Perempuan) mengalami kecemasan dan ketidakstabilan jiwa dengan penyebab yang berbeda dalam menghadapi budaya tes keperawanan. Hanya tokoh Ibu Mempelai Laki-Laki yang tidak cemas karena jiwanya kuat. Simpulan penelitian ini dapat dikemukakan bahwa kondisi kejiwaan yang dialami oleh masing-masing tokoh yang berkaitan dengan id, ego, dan superego antara tokoh yang satu dan tokoh lainnya berbeda-beda. A short story (al-qish-shatul-qashîrah) entitled ?K?nat Hiyal-Adh??f? written by Nawal El Sa?dawi contains psychological unrest, sadness, and pressures experienced by the community, especially Arab women. The culture of virginity test is regarded as a disgrace and psychological pressure for women in general and Arab women in particular. Therefore, to reveal the characters? psychological condition related to the culture of virginity test for Arab women in the short story ?K?nat Hiyal-Adh??f?, a psychological approach and method is needed. Psychological approach is a discipline which regards that literary works contain psychological elements. The method of psychological approach describes the characterization of the characters in the work in question. This study concludes that each character experiences different psychological condition related to id, ego, and superego.
