Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study was to analyze on how the implementation of teaching strategies used by English teacher and the reasons teacher used certain strategies for teaching in SMPN 20 Kota Bengkulu. The subject of this research is English teacher who taught at the first grade in SMPN 20 Kota Bengkulu. The researcher used Roy Killen’s theory to analyze the teaching strategies used by English teacher. The theory of Roy Killen has nine teaching strategies that can be applied by English teacher in teaching and learning process in the classroom. There are direct instruction, discussion, small-group work, co-operative learning, problem solving, research, role play, case study, and writing. The research method used by the researcher was qualitative approach. The techniques of data collection were observation, interview, and documentation. The results of this research show that the teacher used some varieties of teaching strategies which are: direct instruction, discussion, small-group, and role play. The reasons teacher those strategies because those strategies made students more actively on follow the learning process, students could learn together and share their knowledge each other. The teacher used the same strategies for teaching English at first grade, but in term implementation of teaching strategies, the teacher still has difficulties to apply strategies in class during Covid-19 pandemic. Abstract

Based on the explanation of the theory by Gardner the state is motivation comes from within a person as a driving force to achieve goals for more advanced change. This study aims to determine how enthusiastic student's Eighth grade in the SMPN 03 Bengkulu Tengah are in learning English, especially speaking English. Researchers used a quasi-experimental research method, namely a control group posttest only design which showed a significant difference between 74, 92%, and 61.96% of the experimental class in the control class. From this hypothesis, the researcher obtained a comparison of the experimental class in the treatment using the storytelling method of 4.34% and the control class with the narrative picture method of 3.58%. So the researcher can conclude that there is a significant difference between the two methods with or without the use of treatment compared to the motivation to learn English in class VIII students at SMPN 03 Bengkulu Tengah.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of character education values based on the five main values of strengthening character education. The method employed in this study was descriptive qualitative. The sample consisted of two English teachers in SMAN 4 Mukomuko. The researcher used 5 main values of character education as the research limitation in conducting this study.  The technique of data collection were observation, interview, and documentation. The result of this study shows that teachers in SMAN 4 Mukomuko have implemented the 5 main values in strengthening character education, such as religion, nationalism, integrity, independence, and mutual cooperation value. The teachers show and teach the value of character education in the school well. They have been carried out quite well in the teaching and learning process.  Although there were obstacles faced by teachers at SMAN 4 Mukomuko, the school were also constantly looking for solution to overcome the problems by strengthening teachers cooperation and building good relationship between parents of student and SMAN 4 Mukomuko.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran guru dalam upaya meningkatkan keterampilan membaca dasar pada siswa kelas I SD Terpadu Islam. Metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini, dan pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Penulis melakukan wawancara dengan berbagai narasumber, antara lain guru SD Al-Qiswah Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu dan siswa kelas I. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru sebagai penyelenggara, mediator, fasilitator, guru, pembimbing, motivasi, dan evaluator berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dasar siswa kelas I SD Islam Terpadu Al-Qiswah. Ada juga faktor pendukung bagi guru dalam upaya mengembangkan keterampilan membaca dasar siswa kelas I SD Islam Terpadu Al-Qiswah, seperti sarana, prasarana, keluarga, dan guru yang sering membiasakan siswa dengan kegiatan literasi membaca sebelum memulai. belajar setiap pagi, serta faktor penghambat yang dihadapi guru dalam upaya meningkatkan keterampilan. Bacaan dasar bagi siswa kelas I SD Al-Qiswah Terpadu Islam yaitu keluarga, siswa, dan lingkungan
