Abstract

Abstract

Glibenclamide is a sulfonylurea class of antidiabetic drugs that works by stimulating insulin secretion in the pancreas so that it is effective only when the β-cells of the pancreas can still produce. The glibenclamide dosage form that is on the market is a conventional oral tablet which has various disadvantages in terms of pharmacokinetics. Based on this, it is necessary to develop a more effective drug delivery system for glibenclamide in order to avoid first-pass metabolism so as to increase the bioavailability of glibenclamide, namely by making mucoadhesive buccal tablets. This glibenclamide mucoadhesive buccal tablet is formulated using a variety of mucoadhesive polymers, namely CMC Na and oleic acid as enhancers. The manufacture of four mucoadhesive buccal tablet formulas used the direct compression method. The results of the weight uniformity test showed that they did not meet the NP requirements specified, all formulas had an NP of more than 15. The tablet hardness test also showed results that did not meet the test requirements. However, the results of the physical properties of the brittleness, pH and swelling index showed the results that met the test requirements. In this research, the optimum variation of CMC Na polymer and oleic acid as enhancers to physical properties (hardness, brittleness, pH, swelling ability) and the release of glibenclamide mucoadhesive tablets were CMC Na of 37.5 mg and oleic acid of 3.5. ml.

Abstract

Emulgel is a semi-solid preparation, in the form of an emulsion where the viscosity is increased by the addition of the gelling agent. Emulgel can be used for formulations of active substances that are difficult to dissolve in water. Meloxicam is a first-line treatment to treat rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. The aim of the study was determine the stability of the physical properties of emulgel meloxicam with the Freeze thaw test. The research design used was quasi experimental. In this study there were 2 storage temperatures, the freeze temperature of 4-8oC and thaw temperature of 40-48oC. The treatment was carried out in 3 cycles for 6 days. Physical stability test of organoleptic (color, odor, and dosage form) showed no difference during storage. Physical stability test of homogenity also showed no difference during storage. Physical stability of the emulsion type showed that there was no phase separation in the emulsifying gel during storage. Significance of pH is 0,083 (p 0,05), viscosity is 0,083 (p0,05), and spreadabilityis 0,102 (p 0,05) can be interpreted that the physical stability of pH, viscosity and dispersion power has no significant difference. From all research data, it can be seen that the meloxicam emulgel preparation did notchanges in physical stability after passing 3 cycles.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variation concentration carbopol 934 934 to the characteristics of physical shampoo from anti-dandruff infusion of pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius roxb). Pre-experiment one shot case study was used as a research design. Variation in carbopol 934 concentration were 1% (F1), 1.5% (F2), and 2% (F3)  The result stowed that variation concentration of carbopol 934 affect organoleptic shape and smell, pH, and viscosity of shampoo. But didn’t affect color, homogenity, and foam height oh shampoo. The viscosity of the shampoo increases with the increase in the concentration of carbopol 934 used.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature variations before and after storage on physical stability and bacterial contamination of the antacid suspension. The samples in this study were generic antacid suspensions with variations in storage temperature stored at 15-30°C (room), 2-8°C (cold), and 30-40°C (warm). Physical evaluations were carried out in the form of organoleptic tests, pH tests, viscosity tests and there was a bacterial contamination test. The results of the organoleptic test showed that the generic antacid suspension before and after storage had no change in smell, color and taste. The pH test has a stable pH and meets the requirements, namely pH between 7.3 and 8.5, the statistical test results obtained were 0.589> 0.05, which means that the pH before and after storage there was no significant difference. The viscosity test met the requirements, namely viscosity from 0.37 to 3.9 dpas. statistical test results obtained 0.023 <0.05, which means that the viscosity before and after storage there was a significant difference. The results of the Total Plate Number test before storage there was no contamination with ALTB values, namely 1.3x101 colonies/ml, 1,3x101 colonies/ml, and 1x101 colonies/ml, based on The International Pharmacopeia-7th edition the requirement for suspension bacterial contamination ≤ 1x102 colonies/ml, the result showed that contamination happened in all samples after storage. It can be concluded that bacterial contaminatios occured in all samples with temperature variations before and after storage but not affected on physical stability of antacid suspension.
