Abstract

The Cibodas village is located in Pasir Jambu subdistrict at Bandung Regency, majority community livelihood edged is dairy cattle and agriculture. The problem of waste management in terms of cattle manure that could potentially produce methane (CH4) as one of the greenhouse gases (GRK), and when the cattle manure dumped into the River then it can pollute the rivers directly. The purpose of this study is to see how big the benefits of social and economic aspects of the utilization of cattle manure at the farmer scale. A series of Research include : 1) collect opinions and responses to ranchers, livestock farmers and administrators, by filling the questionnaire against the management of the cattle manure, 2) Observations of operational  at the process of vermicomposting  in two locations, namely in kampong Papak Manggu and kampong Injeman Cibodas village, during the activities of Demontration plot. The observed data covering 1) production process of vermicomposting (worm production and the weight of the raw materials, daily activities, results of casting, mass balance and quality of organic fertilizer) 2) Required total working hour of process of vermicomposting 3) Space and facilities requirement 4) cost and price analysis. The research show that vermicompost is suitable to be implemented in processing cattle manure, base on the following reason : a) cleaning of the environment b) minimum labor requirement c) providing  additional income d)  availability of organic fertilizer.

Abstract

Community empowerment, which is the practice of implementing 3R by utilizing or recycling household solid waste, aims to increase the community's knowledge and skills in utilizing household solid waste into economic value products. Having this knowledge and skills will increase people's interest and willingness to use household solid waste, which in turn will maintain environmental quality by reducing the amount of solid waste and making the environment greener. This community service activity in Cibodas Village, Pasirjambu District starts from the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation stages, as well as preparing reports and activity outputs. Activities are carried out offline while still observing health protocols, which are mandatory to wear masks, maintain distance, and always wash hands with soap and running water or use hand sanitizers. In this activity, the implementation is carried out by utilizing material delivery technology through the MS Power point application, delivery interactions through banners/posters, demonstrations of waste sorting and processing practices, as well as the design of 3R-based household waste management patterns that are integrated with the Waste Bank. In the implementation of counseling and training held at the Cibodas Village Office, all participants seemed enthusiastic in gaining additional knowledge and skills in 3R-based household solid waste management and had the motivation to change behavior in placing solid waste in segregated containers.

Abstract

The area of the Faculty of Sports Science, University of Cenderawasih is the embodiment of Campus Open Space that must consider comfort for the needs of local users. This area consists of lecture buildings, entrepreneurship buildings, football stadiums, as well as several sports arenas such as volleyball, futsal, basketball, tennis and badminton arenas. The Campus of the Faculty of Sports Science has an area of 5 hectares in which there is open space. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of comfort in campus open spaces through measurements of air temperature, air humidity, wind speed influenced by land cover (vegetation, pavement, water elements and building orientation) in the campus environment. The theme of the study is the Comfort Zone which focuses on user comfort to achieve the goal or criteria of thermal comfort of the environment based on the placement of space and human activities in the campus landscape. This research method uses quantitative descriptive methods. Observations were made in several locations on campus open spaces by purposive sampling on each different land cover characteristic using quantitative methods to obtain the Temperature Humidity Index (THI) value. The results showed that uncomfortable locations according to THI value standards were in all locations due to the use of pavement materials that did not absorb heat or vegetation that grew not optimally. This research shows that the presence of vegetation that shades a location can have an impact on decreasing air temperature in that location.
