Abstract

Rice is the main commodity food support in Indonesian society. As a country with a large population, there are challenges to improve the efficiency and optimizing the utilization of land resources. The purpose of this study is to determine the use of lines were superior and spacing are effective in increasing productivity. The research was conducted at the experimental land Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University, Mojolaban, Sukoharjo. The research using Randomized Completely Block Design. The first factor is the lines, local lines Inpari 10, hybrid rice lines Tiongkok 1683, 1606, and 358. The second factor is the plant spacing, 18 cm x 18 cm, 22 cm x 22 cm, and 26 cm x 26 cm. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and if there is a significant followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test at 5% level. Hybrid rice lines 358 and spacing of 26 cm x 26 cm is a combination of treatments that have a higher level of productivity is 5.86 ton/ha.

Abstract

Corn is an important crop. Potency of corn productivity in Indonesia are still low. Main obstacles of increasing corn productivity is convertion of fertile land into non agriculture interest. the increase of corn productivity can be done by administrating NPK fertilizer and hybrid variety. This research is aiming at deciding and analyzing the effect of NPK fertilizer administration and hybrid corn variety towards growth and result. This research was held in June to October 2017, at Srimartani Village, Piyungan Districts, Bantul Regency, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta with regosol soil type and land altitude around 80 meter above sea surface. This experiment arranged in split plot design by factorial. Experimented factor are two corn hybrid variety ABCD and EFGH (main plot) with three doses of NPK fertilizer 200, 300 and 400 kg ha-1 (sub plot). The result of research show that there are responds in two variety towards NPK fertilizer dosage almost same (unreal interraction). ABCD and EFGH variety reach highest result of height and component at 300 kg ha-1doses. Variable of cob weight with husk, cob weight without husk, cob length, total row, dry pipilan weight per plot, 100 seeds weight, fresh stover wieght, dry stover weight, harvest index and yield per hectare the highest average is variety of EFGH. NPK fertilizer dosage 300 kg ha-1 is the best amount to optimally increase the growth and yield of hybird corn (8,92 ton ha-1). EFGH variety with 300 kg ha-1 NPK fertilizer dosage can increase the potency of hybird corn yield. EFGH variety is showing better results (9,26 ton ha-1).

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays) is a primary source of food after rice, considered as cerealia crops. This research to analyzing about growth and yield of several variety of hybrid corn on phospat fertilizer dosage giving because in Indonesia the land is nutrient-deficient phospat. This research has been held on June until October 2017 in Kecamatan Piyungan, Kabupaten Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Plan which used in this research are Split Plot Design which consist of 2 factors which observed three varieties of hybrid corn (ABCD, EFGH and IJKL) as main plot and phospat fertilizer dosage giving (0, 100 and 150 kilogram ha)  as  sub plot which repeated three times. Research fact found that the topography of the research field is 40% of the plains with a slope of less than 2% and 60% of hilly areas with a slope above 40.1% and the type of the soil is regosol with the highest temperature recorded at the study site was 32ºC with the lowest temperature of 23ºC, then phospat fertilizer dosage is strongly influence the growth and yield of each hybrid corn variety. The best dosage of fosfat fertilizer for corn growth is 150 kilogram ha on each variety, which are ABCD variety, EFGH, and IJKL. The best habit of the growth and yield of hybrid corn is on the phospat fertilizer dosage giving at 150 kilogram ha with variety EFGH.

Abstract

Kaempferia rotunda that long ago been used to treat gastrointestinal disorders and also treat cancer, has promising opportunities to cultivate. There are several obstacles in cultivation today. Plant propagation by in vitro can be one solution. Basic media and plant growth promoting substance usage is an important factor which has to be concerned. Research aiming to produce high quality seed and in large numbers. Research has been carried out in Tissue Culture Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, during July 2014 to August 2015. This research was used MS (Murashige and Skoog) media with combination treatment of each IBA and BAP concentration of 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 ppm. The number of shoots that appear on the explant is the main observation variables. The results showed IBA and BAP are likely to affect the appearance of buds as much as 2 pieces in each explant at 0 ppm IBA treatment.

Abstract

Rice is the main product in Indonesia in the context of the supply of rice as a national food. Efforts to increase rice production are faced with various constraints such as fertilization ineffective and under-utilization of hybrid varieties by farmers. This study aims to determine the effect of differences in nutrient application through the leaves on the growth and yield of china’s hybrid rice. The method used is strip plots design. The design consists of two factors, namely the variety and diversity of nutrient factors. There are five varieties of rice that are used with 3 treatments a difference nutrient which is water, micro nutrient, complete nutrient. The results obtained indicate that the applications of micro-complete nutrient through the leaves have outcomes on the growth parameters that affect on plant height and the parameters of production that is the total number of grains per hill, weight of grain content per hill and percentage of grain content. Then, hybrid rice which has the highest potential yield after applying nutrient based on the amount of grain per clump is Hybrid I and Hybrid III.

Abstract

Mentik wangi is one of the local rice varieties in Indonesia less attractive to farmers. That is because the rice Mentik wangi has some weakness, namely a long harvest time, easy to collapse, and the results less than the maximum productivity. To increase the interest of farmers in rice cultivation Mentik wangi, then an attempt is made to improve the quality of rice Mentik wangi properties with plant breeding techniques one of which is a genetic mutation using gamma radiation. This study was conducted to determine the performance (performance) of rice Mentik wangi (M1) results of gamma-ray radiation that is expected to have a positive properties of new or better than its origin. This research was conducted in paddy fields in the village of Nangsri Lor, District Kebakkramat, Karanganyar and implemented in September 2015 to January 2016. Data were analyzed by descriptive with sorting and comparing each individual plant at each radiation dose to the average control accurately and objective. The results showed that gained some plants that could potentially be a mutant plant that has better properties (positive) that appears at the variable plants from each individual plant, ie the number of lines T16 with a radiation dose of 300 gray tall plants are very short 86 cm, strain number T204 with a radiation dose of 200 gray pick the highest panicle length of 33.5 cm, strain number T133 with a radiation dose of 100 gray has a total number of tillers and productive tiller high of 17 rods (total) and 11 rods (productive), strain number T133 with radiation dose of 200 gray had the highest number of filled grain and 624 grain strain T70 numbers with a radiation dose of 100 gray had the highest percentage of filled grain at 96%, and the number of lines T (1-7) with a radiation dose of 100 gray and strain number T ( 1-9) with a radiation dose of 200 gray had a shorter harvesting time is 110 days.

Abstract

Maize (Zea mays L.) is the second most important cereal crop of Indonesia after rice. The productivity of corn in Central Java province in 2015 was increased that considered as relatively low. Maize productivitiy needs to be improved to supply the requirement of people through of plant spacing and use the hybrid maize varieties. The aims of study was to determine the effectiveness level of plant spacing, to test the best hybrid maize varieties, and test the combination of two treatments to optimize the yield potential hybrid maize. This study has been conducted from June until October 2017, at Desa Srimartani, Kecamatan Piyungan, Kabupaten Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. This study was arranged in Split Plot Design consisting of two factors that have been researched, varieties (ABCD, EFGH, NK6172, P27 and DK77) and plant spacing (70 x 20 cm, 75 x 20 cm, and 75 x 25 cm). The results show that treatment of varieties mostly can increase all of variable analysis but there is no interaction on both treatment except plant height, fresh and dry biomass weight. Variable of plant height, tasseling and silking, cob weight with husk, cob weight without husk, kernel seeds weight per plot, 100 seeds weight, yields per hectare show that the highest average is variety of P27. While treatment of plant spacing has no effect because the interval between treatments plant spacing is too close therefore it shows insignificantly different result. The highest dry kernel product on variety treatment P27 (8,82 ton ha-1), followed by DK77 (8,53 ton ha-1), ABCD (8,50 ton ha1), NK6172 (8,34 ton ha-1), and EFGH (7,13 ton ha-1).

Abstract

Variation on orchid is an advantage that allows plant as breeding material. Orchid in plant breeding has a target to increase plant genetic diversity character who favored by the consumer. Efforts to increase genetic diversity among others by artificial mutation using gamma ray irradiation. This research aims to study the influence of gamma ray irradiation dose against the performance of morphology and growth of crossbred orchids ♀Vanda celebica x ♂Vanda dearei. Research using completely randomized design single factor that is dose gamma ray irradiation 0 Gray, 10 Gray, 20 Gray, 30 Gray, 40 Gray and 50 Gray. Data were analyzed descriptively, compared plant irradiation treatments with control plants to determine the effect of irradiation on morphology and growth plant. The results showed dose irradiation treatment increased the diversity of plant height, leaf amount, leaf length, leaf color changes, the amount and length of roots. 10 Gray dose irradiation increases as height and length plant leave. 30 Gray dose irradiation increase in the number of leaves. Leaf color change occurs at 20 irradiation treatments Gray and 50 Gray.

Abstract

Hybrid rice has genetic traits such as sturdy stems, long and bushy dwarfs, short lifespan of 110-145 days, has large number of tillers, and leaves are dark green. Productivity of hybrid rice reached 6-12 tons-1ha. To obtain maximum production, hybrid rice varieties should be planted on fertile land, nutrients must be available, adequate irrigation, integrated pest management, and crop management should be done well. Efforts that can be done is to provide a balanced fertilizer, one with the use of appropriate doses of NPK fertilizer. The research was conducted in Gedangan Village, Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency in May to August 2017 using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) design with 2 factors of treatment, is the dosage of NPK fertilizer and rice varieties and replicates 4 times. The results showed that the treatment of various doses of NPK fertilizers and rice varieties increased the results of all observation variables, except in the variable of plant height and yield per harvest. While the interaction between the two treatments almost increased the results of all observation variables except for plant height and yield per harvest.

Abstract

Research on the growth and oleanolic acid content of pearl grass (Hedyotis corymbosa) in experimentall field of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicines Research and Development Center (B2P2TOOT), Tanjungsari Village, Tegal Gede Village, Karanganyar and B2P2TOOT laboratory, Tawangmangu, Karanganyar. The research has been conducted in August to November 2017. The purpose of this research is to know the dosage of cow manure and liquid organic manure which has the most influence to the growth and the oleanolic acid content of pearl grass. The experiment was designed in a randomized complete block design with twelve treatments and three repication. The observed data  analyzed using  variance analysis  with 5% level then if there was a significant difference in the continued test with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the use of cow manure at doses of 0 kg-1m2, 4,6 kg-1m2, 6,1 kg-1m2 and 7,6 kg-1m2 did not give increase to all observation variables. The use of POC dose 0 ml-1liter, 5 ml-1liter and 10 ml-1liter did not give increase to all observation variables. All given treatments may show that oleanolic acid is present in pearl grasses.
