Abstract

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is one kind of plants to be processed as traditional medicine, drinks, and spices. the smallest type of ginger that has many benefits as medical plant. Demand for ginger plants growing in the community is increasing. Additions of manure and arbuscular mychorrhizal fungi (AMF) can increase the quality and quantity of ginger. This was conducted to obtain the kinds of manure and levels of AMF to ginger to produce optimum growth and yield. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of two treatment factors, namely planting medium and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). Results were analyzed by analysis of variance and if there is a real difference continued DMRT 5% level. The results showed that the differences in the kinds of manure and the levels of AMF increase growth and yield of ginger. Chicken manure application showed the highest results in the fresh weight of stover plant, dry weight of plant stover, fresh weight of plant rhizomes, and dry weight of the rhizomes. Whereas the additions of AMF 15 grams per plant in zeolite showed the highest results in the number of plant tillers, dry weight of plant stover, fresh weight of plant rhizomes, and dry weight of the rhizomes.

Abstract

Sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) flour industry in Tulung, Klaten district is the center of the sugar palm flour production industry in Central Java. In the processing of sugar palm flour is a lot of obstacles, one of which is environmental pollution resulting from waste liquid produced. This reasearch was purposed to determine the effect of liquid organic sugar palm fertilizer with a variety of decomposition starters on the growth and yield of maize. The research was held from September to December 2014 at the Greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University (UNS) of Surakarta with the design used was Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) that there is one factor, that is a variety of decomposition starters. The treatment of each repeated four times in order to obtain 24 plots. The results showed that fertilization using sugar palm liquid waste fermented with variety of decomposition starters have no significant effect on the growth and yield of maize. The combination treatment of sugar palm liquid waste fertilizer fermented with EM-4 resulted higher yield potency grain per cob is 36,49 grain or 7,3% of normal production grain per cob.

Abstract

Soil deterioration for biomass production caused by soil processing out of control and that can make the soil quality become decrease. The research aims to map out soil potention and status for biomass production as a reference for government in Padas sub-district to preserve and repair soil quality. The research aims to map of potention and status of soil deterioration as a reference for government in Padas sub-district, so they can preserve and repair soil quality. This research was conducted using a survey method, with observations, take the soil samples for laboratory analyses and then scoring and matching from result of analyses to determine soil status . The result of this research showed Parameters contributing to soil damage in Kecamatan Padas are permeability in all unit of land maps, texture parameters in unit of land maps 2, 3, and 4, then soil redox parameters in unit of land maps 3 and 5. This is because the soil texture has a high klei content so that the ability to withstand high water which causes low permeability values and soil conditions that are water-saturated or inundated will result in a low soil redox value or <200 mV. Padas sub-district Ngawi regency is include into minor damage status or RI with 5 total score based on the Government Regulation No. 150 of 2000.
