Abstract

This current research aimed at investigating the structure and average size of New zealand rabbit’s spermatozoa. This research employed experimental design and was conducted in Chemical Engineering Laboratory of State Polytechnic of Malang and Biology Laboratory of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This research was initiated from August to September 2019. The design of this research was specifically Completely Randomized Design, with four treatments of tannin extraction of Pluchea indica, and control with oral nasogastric with the dose of 3 ml/kgbb in four-time repetitions. A light microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) were used for observation. One-way ANOVA was used for data analysis. As for the control group, the spermatozoa were found normal. Whilst, with reference to the three other treatments, the spermatozoa were seen to be abnormal, with apparent dilation in the neck, pseudo-droplet (bumpy neck), and dag defect (twisted tail). Based on the results, there was an influence of tannin extraction of Pluchea indica on the abnormality of New zealand rabbit’s spermatozoa (with p<0.05). Regarding the size of the spermatozoa, the average length of spermatozoa was 8.74 µm for the head, 1.86 µm for the upper neck, and 56.48 µm for the tail. With reference to HOS (Hypo-Osmotic Swelling) test, it showed that abnormal spermatozoa was in the form of severance of the head and the tail, as well as dag defect. To sum up, this research has indicated that the condensed tannin extraction contributes a similar effect to that of the pure one on the structure of spermatozoa.

Abstract

Dust mites are insects that have a wide range and can cause a variety of allergy illnesses. The existence of mites in an environment can be affected by abiotic factors that espouse the growth of the mites. This research aims to analyze the connection between dust mite number and abiotic factors of boarding house dust. This research was descriptive. The research was conducted in Dau District, Malang Regency, using an analysis unit of student boarding houses and their residents (students) from 2018/2019 to 2019/2020. The research population consisted of student boarding houses that had been recognized as having disruptions due to exposure to house dust. The UMM Biology Laboratory was used to obtain research data. Inferential statistical tests with SPSS 21 software were employed as part of the analysis technique. The results of this research indicate that room temperature, humidity, light intensity, wind speed, dry matter, ash content, protein content, crude fat, and crude fiber are abiotic factors that influence the TDR (House Dust Mites) population in boarding houses. Humidity is one of the abiotic factors that influence the existence of TDR among all the abiotic factors that influence the existence of TDR. The findings of this research can be utilized as a source of information for the general public, particularly students, to always pay attention to the cleanliness of their surroundings so that it does not become a medium for developing TDR and reducing the TDR population

Abstract

One of the efforts that teachers can undertake to strengthen their professionalism as educators is writing scientific papers and teaching materials. This study aims to analyze knowledge and scientific performance competency in designing and carrying out Classroom Action Research of the teachers in SMP Muhammadiyah 8, Batu City. This study was descriptive study. This study was conducted from July to November 2022. The population and samples of this study were the teachers of Batu City Middle Schools. The procedures of this study encompassed preparation and research implementation. The number of respondents was 30 teachers. Interviews and questionnaires were used as the data collection procedures of this study. The knowledge aspects studied from the teacher's scientific performance competence were formulating appropriate research problems, developing a literature study framework, compiling a conceptual framework, and analyzing research results data. The data analysis technique used in this study was a descriptive-analytic by describing the findings of the study. The results of this study indicate that: that experience in the form of undergraduate education background is higher (66.76%) than master (33.38%); being a teacher for less than 15 years or less (33.00%), over 15 years is 67.00%; experience doing research is 83.00% and performance competency knowledge in the field of scientific work of Batu City Middle School teachers is in the sufficient and good categories. This study recommends that correlation analysis (correlation regression) is required between the professionalism aspect, particularly in terms of teacher scientific field performance, and assistance is needed to improve teachers’ competencies thru collaborative academic activities between lecturers and teachers in schools; one of the activities is thru a Lecturer Partnership Program.
