Abstract

One application of direct evaporation cooling system was a natural refrigerator. The advantages of this natural refrigerator was operating without using electrical energy or mechanical energy and environmentally friendly. This study aims to gain a performance analysis of natural refrigerator as a store of vegetables and fruits which uses water as the cooling medium. Material of natural refrigerator consists of teak wood and gunny. Experiments were conducted during seven days in the open space which exposure to solar radiation. The measurement of weather parameter  was done by using HOBO devices and to record temperature changes of vegetables and fruits in the natural refrigerator was used acquisition data. The results showed that the efficiency of natural refrigerator maximum that can be obtained was 14.7% with an average air temperature of 25,55oC, air humidity average of 91.34% and an average solar radiation of 108.45 W/m2. The experimental data showed that the freshness of vegetables and fruits heavily influenced by weather conditions.

Abstract

One application in a direct evaporative cooling system was a natural cooler. The advantages of this system were not using the electrical energy and so far also environmentally. This research aims to obtain a performance analysis of the natural cooler as a store for vegetables and fruits in Medan city. The materials for natural cooler consists of teak wood and gunny. The experiments were conducted during seven days in the open air, which were exposed to the solar radiation. The parameter measurement on the weather was using HOBO devices and to record the temperature changes for vegetables or even fruits is using its acquisition data. The results showed that the maximum efficiency of the natural cooler could be obtained  for 43.79%  in the average air temperature of 30.51oC, the air humidity average is 85.12%  with  average solar radiation of 183.98 W/m2.  Experimental data were showing that the condition of  freshness on vegetables or even on  fruits was heavily influenced by weather conditions

Abstract

Beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi efisiensi boiler adalah tekanan superheater, temperatur air umpan, temperatur uap, jumlah uap yang dihasilkan, jumlah konsumsi bahan bakar, dan nilai kalor pembakaran bahan bakar. Boiler mempunyai peranan penting dalam proses produksi uap, sering kali efisiensi kualitas kerja boiler diabaikan padahal peningkatan efisiensi boiler sangat penting guna mendapatkan output yang baik. Oleh sebab itu dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan hubungan variasi tekanan superheater dengan efisiensi boiler, hubungan variasi suhu air umpan dengan efisiensi boiler, dan hubungan variasi jumlah uap yang dihasilkan dengan efisiensi boiler. Metode analisa yang dilakukan dengan menganalisa nilai kalor bahan bakar serabut 75% + cangkang 25%, dan menganalisa efisiensi water tube boiler. Dari hasil analisa yang telah dilakukan maka hubungan variasi tekanan superheater dengan efisiensi boiler tidak konstan naik melainkan naik turun, hubungan variasi suhu air umpan dengan efisiensi boiler konstan teteap, hubungan variasi jumlah uap yang dihasilkan dengan efisiensi boiler relatif naik, nilai kalor pembakaran tinggi (HHV) adalah 21323,584 kJ/kg, nilai kalor pembakaran rendah (LHV) adalah 18083,584 kJ/kg, nilai efisiensi boiler tertinggi yang dihasilkan sebesar 71,05% dan nilai efisiensi boiler terendah yang dihasilkan sebesar 69,49%.
