Abstract

Garbage in coastal areas is one of the complex problems faced by an area that is close to the coast or the coast which has several rivers that empty into the sea. Marine debris, especially inorganic (undergradable) waste, is the main enemy, whose numbers do not decrease over time and its existence tends to be neglected. The impact caused by this type of waste can threaten the survival and sustainability of biota in the waters. The purpose of this study was to determine the amount, type, mass, and density of inorganic marine debris in the waters of Lae-Lae Island, Makassar City. This research was conducted in May-June 2019 on Lae-Lae Island. The garbage collection method is carried out at 3 stations, where Station 1 is in the North, Station 2 is in the West and Station 3 is in the South of Lae-Lae Island. In a transect that is stretched along the coastline and then divided into 3 plots at each station with a size of 50 m x 20 m. Then, collect every type of trash found on the plot. The results showed that the straw type soft plastic waste was mostly found in each research station. The total mass of waste obtained on Lae-Lae Island is 65.64 kg/0.003 km2 and the average density of waste on Lae-Lae Island according to the number of pieces is 1.82 items/m2 and for the average density by weight is 21, 87 g/m2.

Abstract

Abstract

The process adopted adheres to the principles of being consistent and continuous, with maximum effort and thought, time-consuming and tiring, until in the end the beneficiaries of the counseling experience a change for the better. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role and strategy of extension in the marine and fisheries sector in Indonesia. Based on the studies conducted, extension officers in the marine and fisheries sector have a strategic role in determining the success of marine and fisheries development in the field. Outreach strategy for the marine and fisheries sector through structuring and increasing institutional capacity.

Abstract

The two phases of handling fish catches include on-board handling and landing/unloading processes. Through this approach, the quality of catches can be maintained along the fishery supply chain, from ships to consumers, which contributes to the sustainability of the fishing industry as well as the provision of quality fishery products. This study aimed to analyze the process of fish handling in KMN. Dua Putri 02 and Fish Auction Site (TPI). The study was conducted from November 3, 2023, to December 29, 2023, at PPS Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. The results of this study provided in-depth insight into the process of handling fish in both locations. On KMN. Dua Putri 02, the process began with the preparation of tools, the removal of fish from the net to the hold, and the application of ice to the hatch. At TPI, the process started with the preparation of tools for unloading, the transfer of fish from the hold to the sorting place, sorting by type, size, and physical shape, and then weighing and distributing the fish to the point of sale or auction of fish. The conclusion of this study provided a comprehensive overview of the flow of fish handling from vessels to TPI, offering a basis for improving efficiency and quality in the fishing industry.
