Abstract

This research is an experimental research which observed the influence of the use of exploratory method in improving mathematics learning outcomes in the students of Class IX of SMP Negeri 5 Campalagian. The sampling technique used in this research is random sampling. Sample determination was done randomly from 3 classes with 99 a population, each class has the same chance of being sampled. IXB class as experimental class taught by using exploration method with 25 students and IXA class as control class taught by using conventional learning, there is 25 people of learn. Each class is taught in the same frequency of meetings and on the same subject. The experimental class uses exploratory method and control class using conventional approach. The results of mathematics learning are obtained on prêt-test and post-test. Thus, in the experimental class obtained prêt-test average score of 56.00 while the post-test of 75.40. In the control class obtained the average score of pre-test of 61.40 while in the post-test of 67.60. Judging from the average result of the students showed a significant difference, seen from the results of hypothesis testing obtained value of 2.136, while for the value of which means that, it can be said that there is a different application of exploratory methods with the application of conventional methods of mathematics learning outcomes in participants Students Class IX SMP Negeri 5 Campalagian.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to compare the ability of male and female students to solve mathematical problems in a two-variable linear equation system. The subjects of this study were 19th grade students A VII from Mamuju Middle School as many as 19 people, then 6 students were taken, consisting of 3 men and 3 women. The results showed that students with high ability categories; (1) able to understand problems; (2) able to complete planning; (3) able to solve problems; (4) can use existing information to re-examine the answers obtained. Whereas in problem solving abilities for students with moderate categories, he is able to stage (1) be able to understand the problem, (2) be able to plan solutions and, (3) be able to solve problems still in stage (4) less able to reexamine the problem solving ability of answers to students with disadvantaged categories. (1) less able to understand problems; (2) inadequate settlement planning; (3) less able to solve problems; (4) unable to use the information available to re-examine the answers obtained. Indicates that the average score of learning outcomes is 75.26. Judging from the number of students who have not finished learning, it can be concluded that the obstacle experienced by students is the lack of students' understanding of the problem given, so that they are not able to solve the problem properly. Men read and understand the problems given at a glance and women understand the problem carefully and analyze whatever information is given correctly.

Abstract

The main instrument in this study is the researcher himself and his supporting instruments are the teacher's pedagogical knowledge test, learning observation sheet, and interview. The subjects of the study were mathematics teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Polewali, SMP Negeri 2 Polewali, and SMP Negeri 3 Polewali, which were then chosen by two people from each school. The results obtained from this study are the first based on the results of pedagogical tests given to research subjects, namely there are 2 subjects that fall into the category of high pedagogical knowledge and there are 4 subjects that fall into the category of low pedagogic knowledge and based on interviews the results show subjects that fall into the knowledge category High pedagogic generally understands how the application of scientific approaches in mathematics learning because they have frequently participated in training related to the scientific approach, whereas subjects with low pedagogic knowledge category only one subject understands the application of the scientific approach because they are active in the training carried out by the relevant offices.and for the other 3 subjects they did not really understand the scientific approach because they had only participated in the training once. Based on observations, it shows that (1) subjects who have a high pedagogical knowledge category are generally good in applying learning steps because it is clear in directing students in the learning process so that some students are able to follow them well. (2) subjects who have a low pedagogical knowledge category are generally not good at implementing learning steps because they are not clear in directing students in the learning process so that students cannot follow them well.

Abstract

The Study aimed at developing learning package on the operation of addition and subtraction of integers subject material using cooperative learning based on Dienes theory. The learning package developed consisted of student’s book, student’s workbook, and the lesson plan. This study was a developmental research. The intended product of the study was cooperative learning package based on Dienes theory which fulfilled the criteria of valid, practical, and effective. The product consisted of four components, namely student’s book, student’s workbook, and lesson plan. Considering the time efficiency, the product was conducted in limited test and simulation; in other words, when developing the learning package, the instument related to the product was developed as well. The process of development of the learning package used 4-D which consisted of four phases (1) the defining, phase, which conducted a) pre-post analysis, b) student analysis, c) concept analysis, d) task analysis, e) specification of learning objective; (2) design phase, which conducted a) test arrangement, b) foemat selection, c) pre-desing of learning package (prototype), d) media selection; (3) development phase, which conducted a) experts interpretation, b) prototype tryout; (4) dissemination phase, which conducted limited socialization and dissemination of the learning package to obtain suggestion from teachers at Mathematics MGMP. The tryout was conducted once in grade IV SDN 066 Pekkabata. The result of the learning package obtained (1) the lesson plan and student’s workbook were in the category of extremely valid based on the evaluation of the experts, except the student’s book was in valid category, (2) practical because the result of learning management observation dane by the observer confirmed that the learning package was conducted well at the tryout, and (3) effective because it has fulfilled three criteria of effectiveness, which consisted of the classical mastery was achieved, students’ activeties have met the expectation, ind students dave positive response on the learning package and the implementation of learning activities
