Abstract

Abstract: Indonesian Komnas Perempuan (National Commission on Violence against Women) and WHO (World Health Organization) reported that violence against women and children, especially sexual violence, is raising during the COVID-19 pandemic era. Such data triggers the authors to question why sexual violence against them persists, and so difficult to be eliminated? Lots of research and casual observation have been presented, many of which are blaming the victims instead of defending them. This present research aims at contributing in answering above questions by conducting qualitative, literature study using a feminist perspective on particular sexual violence experienced by late Novia Widyasari. In so doing we employ also Foucault’s power relation and misogyny culture. We find there are imbalanced power position and misogynic narratives to blame the victim, and to save the life and career of the perpetrators. The deep and widespread of such practices, i.e. power abuse and misogynic attitudes hinder the effort for the elimination of violence, not only against women, but also against minority groups and the weak in our society, such as children, and disabled people. Keywords: Gender; misogyny; power relation; violence Abstrak: Komnas Perempuan Indonesia (Komnas Perempuan) dan WHO (World Health Organization) melaporkan bahwa kekerasan terhadap perempuan dan anak, khususnya kekerasan seksual, meningkat selama era pandemi COVID-19.

Abstract

The notion of womanhood has become a serious concern of most cultures, religions and states. As such can be seen in written documents they have produced to educate and discipline their female subjects. However, most of the documents are produced by male authority within their respective fields; and many propagated for submissive womanhood. Why these male authors do so? Why they tend to discipline women? Where are the voices of women? These are the questions that attracted me to do research. To start with, I do research on Aisyiyah’s ideas on womanhood, because it is an Islamic organization for women that has survived more than a century. This is qualitative research with mixed methods in the data collection. The primary data comes from published documents and interviews. The research finds that these Aisyiyah women are strategic in developing their idea of womanhood; they take up the opportunity from learning to reclaim the right to self-identification as progressive woman, not submissive and inactive women as proposed in other books. Aisyiyah build its argumentation based on theological, scientific as well as cultural considerations. They also collaborate with other partners of similar minds to sustain their vision on womanhood.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to investigate student interest in accessing online platform of academic journals in the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta. This research applied survey method with quantitative technique to analyse collected data. The results show that all variables tested by conclusions are accepted. This means, after processing the data from the results of questionnaires, it can be seen that the data tested with simple linear regression methods have a positive value so it shows that students’ interest in accessing online journal has an effect on improving quality of their articles. Meanwhile, student interest in accessing online journal survey was still minimal, with 42.2% answered that they do not know the existence of the academic journals. However, 98% of students answered that the internet is a primary need. Unfortunately, the internet, as a tool to access online journals, is mostly used to find entertainment contents with a percentage of 56%. This value is obtained from the average access to the internet; 38% in between 1-3 hours, 30.4% in between 4-6 hours, 22.8% in between 7-10 hours, 4.8% in between 11-13%, ad 4% in > 14 hours. Keywords: Online academic journals, student interest, and survey.
