Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to know the influence of cooperative learning model of Think Pair Share (TPS) type towards student’s mathematical conceptual understanding in eight grade students of Junior High School state 4 Way Tuba in academic year 2012/2013. The population was all eight grade students of Junior High School state 4 Way Tuba in academic year 2012/2013. The samples were students of VIIIA class as experiment class and VIIIB class as control class. The samples were chosen by purposive sampling technique. This research used post-test only control group design. Based on result research,it was concluded that the implementation of cooperative learning model of TPS type influences student mathematical conceptual understanding.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share (TPS) terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Way Tuba tahun ajaran 2012/2013.  Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 4 Way Tuba tahun ajaran 2012/2013 yang terdistribusi dalam tiga kelas.  Sampel dalam peneli­ti­­­­­­­­­an ini­ adalah siswa kelas VIII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas VIII B se­­­­­­bagai kelas kontrol.  Sampel dipilih melalui tek­nik­ pur­po­­­­sive sampling­. Desain penelitian adalah post-test only control group design. Ber­dasar­­kan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share (TPS) berpengaruh ter­hadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Kata kunci: pemahaman konsep matematis, pengaruh, think pair share
