Abstract

Abstract:The objective of the research was to find out whether teaching writing hortatory exposition text through Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) is effective or not. It was also designed to find out how significant the effectiveness of teaching writing hortatory exposition text through the use of TBLT is. The research was carried out at SMAN 2 Pontianak. It was a quasi experimental research. The subjects of the research were the eleventh grade students of XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 4. Data analysis showed that experimental group outperformed control group. It was also found that although there was a difference between the students’ mean score of pre-test and post-test of control group in favor of the traditional approach, this difference was not statistically significant. Therefore, it was concluded that TBLT was more effective in teaching writing hortatory exposition text compared to the traditional approach. Keywords: hortatory exposition text, writing, TBLT Abstrak:Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah pengajaran menulis teks hortatory exposition melalui Pengajaran Bahasa Berbasis Tugas (TBLT) efektif atau tidak. Penelitian ini juga dirancang untuk mengetahui seberapa besar efektivitas pengajaran menulis teks hortatory exposition melalui pendekatan TBLT. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Negeri 2 Pontianak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 2 XI dan XI IPA 4. Analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen mengungguli kelompok kontrol.Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa meskipun ada perbedaan antara skor rata-rata siswadari pre-test dan post-test dari kelompok kontrol yang mendukung pendekatan tradisional, perbedaan ini tidak signifikan secara statistik. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa TBLT lebih efektif dalam pengajaran menulis teks hortatory exposition dibandingkan dengan pendekatan tradisional. Abstract

Abstract: The objective of the study is to develop supplementary writing materials based on local needs for remote area students at SMPN 3 Satap Toba. This research is Research and Development method with the adaptation of the development proposed by David Jolly and Rod Bolitho’s framework. To get the data of local needs, thus identification of needs is done. The data derived from the questionnaires, interview, and direct observation. The evaluation showed that besides the good points, there were still a number of weak points. The weak ones were revised according to the feedbacks and suggestions from the experts. The feedbacks from the students suggested adding some photographs and clear instructions. After some revisions from the feedbacks and suggestions from the expert, the final product was completed. Because teachers know their students’ needs, thus English language teachers are recommended to write their own supplementary material based on local needs.   Keywords: Local Needs, Writing, Material, Remote area Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan materi suplement menulis berdasarkan kebutuhan lokal untuk pelajar yang ada di daerah terpencil khususnya SMPN 3 Satap Toba. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode Research and Development dengan mengadaptasi model pengembangan dari David Jolly dan Rod Bolitho. Untuk mendapatkan data tentang kebutuhan lokal, maka analisis kebutuhan diperlukan. Data diperoleh dari kuisioner, wawancara dan observasi langsung. Dari hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa disamping ada hal baik, ada juga beberapa kekurangan. Kekurangannya diperbaiki berdasarkan umpan balik dan saran dari para ahli. Umpan balik dari siswa-siswi adalah menambahkan beberapa photo asli and kejelasan perintah pada material. Setelah perbaikan dan saran dari para ahli, jadilah produk akhir. Karena guru lah yang mengetahui kebutuhan peserta didiknya maka guru bahasa Inggris di rekomendasikan untuk menulis materi suplement yang digunakan di kelasnya berdasarkan kebutuhan lokal. Abstract

This research was to describe the dynamic implementation of KKNI-Based Curriculum through contextual dialogical literacy. The findings revealed that General Skilled English Subjects (MKUE) in the concept of pragmatism integrates the understanding of current applicative and exploratory competence. With purposive sampling, 24 S2 BE students predominantly stated that MKUE learning based on contextual dialogical literacy accelerated mastery comprehensively in receptive and productive communication. MKUE accommodates the performance of contextual dialogue emphasizing the context of reading, sharing, and reflecting. Materials development, presentation management, question answering, and packaging arguments encourage S2 BE students to appear as innovative learners. The aspect of competition did not arise for its winning nature. Collaborative and co-learning aspects dominate as a social reflection of the spirit of dialogue and cooperation. Whereas, current intensity is in demand as an application of the practical concept of the digital era in integrating technological progress into MKUE, through descriptive exploration, the data concluded that students are facilitated to develop their competence dynamically, integratedly, and innovatively presented in MKUE learning. They are advised to implement this approach maximally, especially in integrating the development of learning materials with local content insights.
