Medicinal plants are plants that have medicinal properties and are used as drugs in healing and preventing disease, the use of natural materials is more acceptable to the human body. Knowledge about the use of medicinal plants is an important element in improving the ability of individuals and families to obtain a healthy life. It is important to continue educating the public regarding the benefits of TOGA. One of the functions of TOGA is as an effort to improve public health including preventive efforts (prevention), promotive efforts (improvement/maintaining health), and curative efforts (curing disease). With the education carried out, it is able to empower the community in the use of family medicinal plants as an effort to increase body immunity in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic. PKM partners are 21 housewives. The method of implementing the activity is to begin by identifying the needs to be used, follow-up surveys and collection of tools and materials needed, then identify the mechanism for implementing community service activities as well as education and socialization. The resulting outputs are: 1) empowering the community in the use of family medicinal plants as an effort to increase body immunity, and 2) becoming a published scientific work.

Abstract

Young women are more at risk of suffering from anemia due to menstruation so they need more iron than young men. The problem is teenage girls do not want to take Fe tablets, so they need alternatives to increase hemoglobin such as consuming chicken eggs. Chicken eggs contain various vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A and iron which are good enough to prevent anemia. This study aims to determine the effect of chicken egg consumption on increasing hemoglobin levels in young women at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu. Pre-experimental research design with one group pretest postest design. This research was implemented from January-August 2020. Samples were taken by simple random sampling technique of 14 respondents. The research instrument is observation sheet and Hb sahli. Data were analyzed using Dependent T test. The Hemoglobin level before consumption of chicken eggs is <12 gr / dl as much as 85.7%. After consumption of chicken eggs the hemoglobin level is ≥ 12 gr / dl as much as 57.1%. The average pretest Hb was 11,464 gr / dl (SD = 0.5444 gr / dl) and posttest Hb 12,307 gr / dl (SD = 0.6330 gr / dl). Dependent T test results showed that the influence of chicken egg consumption on increased hemoglobin levels in young women at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu (ρ = 0,000) <0.05. It is recommended for young women to consume one egg boiled eggs every day as an effort to prevent anemia in adolescents, especially teenagers who do not want to take blood-added tablets.

Abstract

Emesis gravidarum is a complaint that often occurs in pregnant women, especially in the first trimester. In addition to pharmacological drugs, emesis gravidarum can also be treated non-pharmacologically. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the consumption of kepok bananas (Musa Paradisiaca Formatypica) on the reduction of first trimester emesis gravidarum in the Independent Midwife Practice (PMB) Susanti Pekanbaru City. The study was conducted from June to August 2021. The type of research used was pre-experimental with a one-group pre-post-test design which did not use a control group, but previously the group had pretest observations so that researchers could compare changes. The population of this study was 15 respondents. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling. The research instrument is a questionnaire sheet and bivariate data analysis. From the results of the study, it is known that the average emesis gravidarum before consuming banana kepok is 9.27 and the average emesis gravidarum after consuming banana kepok is 7.00. The results of the paired T-test showed the effectiveness of kepok banana consumption on decreasing first trimester emesis gravidarum with p value 0.000 < 0.05. From the results of this study, it is expected that pregnant women who experience emesis gravidarum can consume kepok bananas boiled for 40 minutes 3 times a day. Researchers suggest to health workers to be able to provide education about the benefits of kepok bananas to pregnant women in the first time who experience emesis gravidarum.

Abstract

The prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding tends to decrease in general due to the desire of parents for rapid growth of their baby's weight, especially the promotion of formula milk which is increasingly intensive. Breast milk is the single best source of nutrition for babies because it contains Fats, Carbohydrates, proteins, Vitamins, Minerals, Water and natural protective substances that can protect babies against various diseases. Green beans are one of the lagtogogum plants that contain vitamin tiamin and polyphenols that can increase breast milk production.   The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving green bean juice on infant weight gain in breastfeeding mothers exclusively breastfed. Quasy experimental type of research with pretest and  post test design with nonequivalent control group design. The study was conducted from September to November 2020 in the Working Area of UPT Puskesmas Sebangar Bengkalis Regency with a population of 189 mothers having babies aged (0-6) months with a total sample of 32 people, purposive sampling technique. Giving green bean juice is done once a day as much as 300 ml for 14 consecutive days. Data processing using an independent sample t test. From the results of the study, the average weight gain of babies in the experimental group was 468.74 grams while the average weight gain of the control group babies was only 290.62 grams.  In the independent test of the t-test sample, a p value = 0.021 was obtained, where the p value of ≤ 0.05 Ha was received, meaning that there was an effect of giving mung bean juice on infant weight gain in breastfeeding mothers exclusively in the Working Area of UPT Sebangar Health Center, Bengkalis Regency. It is recommended that breastfeeding mothers can consume Green Bean Juice to help smooth milk production, so as to increase baby weight gain in exclusive breastfeeding mothers.
