Abstract

Soybean lines selection of F4 population resistant to soybean mosaic disease (Soybean mosaic virus) with high yield. The soybean breeding program is usually not purposedly done for resistance to Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) but rather for crop yields. The experiment was aimed to obtain soybean lines of F4 population resistant to soybean mosaic disease with high yield. F2-F4 plants that have been inoculated with the T isolate of SMV one week after planting were selected by the pedigree in the screen house. The result indicated eight F4 populations (Wilis x L. Temanggung; Wilis x L. Jombang; Wilis x Pangrango; Wilis x PI 200485; Gepak Kuning x L. Jombang; Gepak Kuning x L. Temanggung; Gepak Kuning x Malabar; Gepak Kuning x PI 200485) produced medium seed size (from 9.84-10.26 g 100/seeds). Gepak Kuning x Mlg 3288 showed more resistant than Gepak Kuning x PI 200485. The seed produced by Gepak Kuning x PI 200485 was 1.97 ton/ha. There were no F4 populations that had higher yield and bigger seed size than Gepak Kuning x PI 200485 even though they were moderately resistant to SMV. Therefore, these lines of Gepak Kuning x Mlg 3288 and Gepak Kuning x PI 200485 might provide exellent sources to develop a new variety that resistant to SMV and of high yield.

Abstract

Abstract The sawmill industry in the village of Bodag, Kare Subdistrict, Madiun Regency causes an abundance of sawdust. The waste can be used as a growing media for oyster mushroom cultivation. This waste problem can be overcome, but new issues arise with the production of mushroom growing media (baglog). Baglog waste generated in one harvest more or less (1 - 2) t. Limited knowledge and skills in the use of baglog waste is a problem. The community service program aims to improve the skills of mushroom farmers to yield products made from baglog waste. Activities to overcome problems using counselling methods, discussions, practices and assistance. Initial counselling of the meeting about the prospects for the cultivation of oyster mushrooms continued handling baglog which has expired so that it does not become waste that pollutes the environment. Target and outputs of activities, namely after farmers follow counselling on managing waste and making various waste products, farmers can produce compost, animal feed and fuel made from baglog waste which can increase farmer's income. Keywords: old baglog, contaminated baglog, environmental pollution, baglog compost Abstrak Industri penggergajian kayu di desa Bodag Kecamatan Kare Kabupaten Madiun menyebabkan berlimpahnya serbuk gergaji kayu. Limbah tersebut dapat digunakan sebagai media tanam budidaya jamur tiram. Permasalahan limbah ini dapat diatasi namun timbul masalah baru dengan dihasilkannya limbah media tanam jamur (baglog). Limbah baglog yang dihasilkan dalam satu kali panen kurang lebih (1 – 2) t.. Keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pemanfaatan limbah baglog merupakan suatu permasalahan. Tujuan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah meningkatkan keterampilan petani jamur untuk menghasilkan produk berbahan limbah baglog. Kegiatan mengatasi permasalahan menggunakan metode penyuluhan, diskusi, praktek dan pendampingan. Penyuluhan awal pertemuan tentang prospek budidaya jamur tiram dilanjutkan penanganan baglog yang telah habis masa tanamnya agar tidak menjadi limbah yang mencemari lingkungan. Sesuai target dan luaran kegiatan yaitu setelah petani mengikuti penyuluhan penanganan limbah dan pembuatan berbagai produk limbah maka petani dapat memproduksi kompos, pakan ternak dan bahan bakar berbahan baku limbah baglog yang dapat meningkatkan pendapatan petani. Abstract

Sweet sorghum is one of the bioethanol producing plants that can be cultivated on dry land with a wide climate range. The study aims to utilize dry land forest areas for the development of several varieties of sweet sorghum as a bioethanol feedstock. The types used are Suri 3, Kawali, Super 2 and Suri 4 varieties which cultivated at various biofertilizer doses per plant, namely 5 g, 10 g, and 15 g. This experiments used Randomized Block Designed factorial followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the Suri 3, Kawali and Super 2 varieties had above-average agronomic and production characters with the highest values at stem height (301.28 cm), stem weight (145.21g), and seed dry weight (39.74 g) achieved by the variety of Super 2.  Varieties of Suri 3  has the highest potential the content of sugar in the stem (16.69%). Suri 4 variety produces the most volume of juice with the lowest of sugar content. The interaction of varieties  and biofertilizer doses was significantly different against the number of nodules, and the highest of nodules number accomplished by Super 2 varieties at a dose of 10 g (11.77).

Abstract

Mikroba Bacillus subtilis merupakan agen pengendali hayati mempunyai kelebihan sebagai Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) yaitu dapat berfungsi sebagai biofertilizer, biostimulan, biodekomposer dan bioprotektan. Tujuan penelitian mengetahui potensi B. subtilis dalam merombak bahan organik sebagai usaha meningkatkan ketersediaan bahan organik tanah yang semakin menurun. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terbagi dengan berbagai  bahan organik sebagai petak utama (B0 = tanpa bahan organik, B1 = kotoran ayam,  B2 = kotoran kambing, B3 = kotoran sapi) dan aplikasi B.subtilis sebagai anak petak (A0 = 0 cc/L, A1 = 5cc/L, A2 = 10 cc/L, Pengamatan meliputi variabel tinggi tanaman, indeks luas daun, jumlah buah per tanaman, berat buah per tanaman, dan bahan organik tanah. Data pengamatan  dianalisis ragam  menggunakan  Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) versi 25 dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan untuk mengetahui signifikansi perbedaan antar perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terdapat interaksi antara bahan organik kotoran ternak dan konsentrasi B. subtilis terhadap semua variabel pengamatan. Potensi B. subtilis sangat baik dalam mendekomposisi bahan organik yang ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan bahan organik, dan hasil terbaik pada kotoran  sapi (B3) dan konsentrasi B. subtilis 15 mL/L masing-masing sebesar 46.47 % dan 34.76 %. Variabel pertumbuhan tidak berbeda nyata kecuali tinggi tanaman dengan pertambahan tinggi paling banyak pada pemberian kotoran kambing sebesar 170.69 %.

Abstract

Abstract— The percentage of failure to multiply "Siam madu" oranges by grafting in the rainy season is around 50 % to 80 %. The purpose of the study was to determine the interaction of rootstock pruning length and time of grafting plastic opening on the initial growth of  "Siam madu" oranges (Citrus nobilis L). The study used a factorial experiment based on a randomized block design (RAK). The first factor was the length of pruning (P) were, P1 = 5 cm above of patch eye with 0.5 stems, P2 = 5 cm above of patch eye, and P3 = 10 cm from the shoot. The second factor is the opening time of grafting plastic (B) were B1 = 25 days after grafting (DAG), B2 = 30 DAG and B3 = 35 DAG. Observation parameters included the percentage of grafting growth, time of shoot appearance, number of leaves, length of grafting shoots, and leaf area. The results showed that there was a significant interaction between the treatment of rootstock pruning length (P) and plastic opening time (B) to shoot appearance time, the number of leaves, shoot length, and leaf area. The best results of the combination variable treatment observed were achieved by the treatment of rootstock pruning length of 5 cm above of patch eye and opening time of grafting plastic 25 DAG (P2B1), namely shoot emergence time (30.20 days), shoot length 46 DAG (21.06 cm). Abstract

Sustainable Food Yard (P2L) activities utilize a sustainable agricultural approach, utilization of local resources, community empowerment, and marketing orientation. The Edelweiss P2L group in Pilangbango Village, Kartoharjo District, Madiun City, consists of homemakers who have yards but need basic knowledge of good farming and utilization of crop yields. Community service activities aim to turn the results of the P2L program into value-added products. The dedication method is carried out through discussion, counseling, and mentoring of program activities. The results of the implementation of the program show that the activities are carried out correctly. Discussion activities, program evaluation, counseling, and mentoring can increase the knowledge and skills of members in utilizing their yards by cultivating intensively, especially chilies, tomatoes, eggplants, mustard greens, Brazilian spinach, and kale. Yields can meet family nutritional adequacy and increase income. Eggplant, mustard greens, and Brazilian spinach commodities are prioritized as superior products with marketing in processed forms such as mustard greens noodles, mustard sticks, eggplant brownies, and Brazilian spinach roulade.

Abstract

Processed Product Skills Improvement Program are carried out by empowering women in soybean sorting groups. The women of RT 02 RW 02 Sambirejo Village, Saradan District, and Madiun Regency have only participated in a partnership program with PT Unilever as sorters. Experience and skills as a sorter have yet to follow the knowledge about the added value of soybeans as a processed product. This program aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the sorting group in producing processed products. The service method uses socialization and counseling on post-harvest management, training, mentoring, and monitoring the manufacture of processed soy sauce products. The results of program implementation show that program activities were carried out well. Discussion activities, program evaluation, counseling, and mentoring can increase members' knowledge and ability to make processed soy sauce products independently. Processed products can meet the family's nutritional needs and commercially can increase income and, in the future, make Sambirejo Village a soy sauce production center.
